Khymeras. They're using the back end of the Steeds of Slaanesh and the front end of a Chaos Hound (I had 10 going spare). This means that i'll be using all of the stuff from the Seeker box, which means I can increase my Scourge squad to 10 men without wasting money.




More of the Cronos. The rear legs are done as i carved up my last Aethersail, so I can't finish my third Raider.

Last two shots. The cabling underneath took AGES. The rear section took 10 minutes whilst the other two took around 3 hours each to get right. The blocky bit near the Brass tubing is going to be redone. The holes near there are for the bigger rear legs. The carapace is rough and blocky because it'll be trimmed down and filed flat. The second pair of smaller legs will go where the vents go on the Trygon and the lumps of Greenstuff near the engines will have additional engines made from the Hellion Phantasm Grenade Launchers.

Thanks glenning, go for it!. When I finished greenstuffing the first one I was sorely tempted to use them as my Rough Rider mounts.

bloody hell, everything looks so much better in these pictures. The chronos will looks amazing if you can continue this level of detail, the underneath looks awesome. What will you use as a face though rabid bunny?

btw, have you used milliput? It's kinda better in large scales and you can sandpaper/cut it, really works miracles in some spots.

Thanks alphachicken, I do have some miliput, but its three years old and slightly crumbly. I do have three 30cm rolls of Greenstuff though, so i'll be using that in the mean time. I posted some pics of the Cronos' head earlier (probably why you didn't see it ) but I have one pic I posted on Sunday;


Its an upside-down Kabalite Warrior head (this one) attatched to a Mawloc claw with the blade and spikes trimmed down. I'll try and get a better pic tomorrow morning. The plan for tomorrow is to finish off the infantry (Warriors and Wyches) in my 1,000 point list, so checking for mouldlines and greenstuffing the gaps in the shoulder pads of the warriors(The one thing I think could have been better in the kit) and cleaning up my 10 metal Wyches. If I have some spare time i'll finish off the Scourges and the Fighter. The plan is to get 1,200 points at least undercoated by Wednesday so I can get a few games in Thursday evening. My 1,000 point list is as follows;

HQ
Lady Malys: 130 - Needs corset, hair, arms, a fair bit, done.

TROOPS

10 Kabalite Warriors: Blaster: 105 - assembled, needs shoulder pads fixed.
Raider: 60 - Crew and Dark Lance needs assembly.

9 Kabalite Warriors: Blaster: 96 - assembled, needs shoulder pads fixed.
Raider: 60 - Crew and Dark Lance needs assembly.

10 Wyches: Hekatrix with Agonizer: 130 - Needs fingers sculpted and mould lines removed.
Raider: 60 - Crew and Dark Lance needs assembly. No aethersail.

5 Kabalite Warriors: Blaster: 60 - assembled, needs shoulder pads fixed.
Venom: Splinter Cannon: 65 - Crew needs finishing off, hand rail made then attatched.

FAST ATTACK

5 Scourges: 2 Dark Lances, Solarite: 150 - arms need sculpting, mouldlines removed.

Thanks again, i'll try to get some pics up tomorrow. The plan went out of the window, so I spent today tinkering with the Fighter, it has guns now.

@Dayspringer: I'll get some unblurry pics tomorrow if the lgiht holds out, its been overcase most of today. I have alot of work to put into Malys, i'm just not happy with the way she is panning out. I was thinking of doing something along the lines of this picture of the Lady of Blades, the upper part, not the lower part with the razor feet things.

Like your ingenuity with the Khymerae and the Chronos is progressing nicely. I was skeptical in the first shots but you clearly have a vision and the skillz to execute. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

I applaud your attempt at the Razorwing and agree you need to take a different tack with it. The FP/DS turret is just too small to be a great conversion/proxy. But maybe it's good enough for a stand-by until the kit comes out.

I would also console you with the old addages of "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." and "They can't all be gems, folks." Your willingness to dive in and try things is inspiring.

Interesting start on the razorwing. I think extending back is good idea. It's hard to judge the scale of the model as we have only codex illustration, but I'd try using falcon hull for this conversion. The wings are still problematic though.
I love your khymeras conversions. Stunning models. I think beast master in more relaxed position (i.e. lower speed) would better fit the squad. Most of the khymeras aren't too dynamic as well and that would stressed the difference between beast master and hellions. Just my 50 euro cents (beasts/jump infatry).
The cronos model start looking more organic than mechanic (which isn't a bad thing). Also nice sketch of a haemonculi.

Thanks guys, no new pics. I've slacked off this week by tinkering with finished models instead of finishing off the Warriors, like cutting the front part of the Dark Lances off so when I get some Heat Lances I can attatch them. The only real headwork I have made is of Lady Malys. I've got the bits ordered to make her. Her legs/torso will be made from the Island of Blood High Elf Mage with the waist thinned down and the top part of a Kabalite Warrior torso added. Shoulder pads from the White Lion kit. The head is the only part of the model I can work on at the moment, i'll try and get a picture of the work so far, but its not overly polished at the moment.

@Dayspringer: Thanks, I never got round to playing Planetscape (The one D&D campaign I played was during 3rd, but the DM wasn't too friendly towards new players and charged £1 per gaming session for photocopying) but i've always liked the Planetscape setting, shamlessley nicking the style of the focal inhabitant of Sigil seemed like a good step

@Avatar of the Eldar: Thanks, I agree with you on the Razorwing, it'll do for the time being. I've seen other people saying they've converted theirs from Falcons or the Fire Prism so when I get some money i'll have a go at making one like that.

@Morathi: I've kinda given up on the idea of extending the back, i've got some Raider engines coming from www.bitsandkits.co.uk so i'll glue them on the back, make some missiles and call it a day. Like I said above, i'll take a stab at making a bigger one in the future. I see what you mean about the Beastmaster, the Razorwing flocks and Clawed Fiend will be going at full pelt to compensate. The other two Beastmasters are in slightly more passive poses. Thanks about the sketch, its the only serviceable doodle i've done for the new DE.

edit: I've just snapped a few shots of the WIP head, also I just did a quick doodle of how the head and (hopefully) what the model will look like. Sorry for the pics, I feel a bit bad about not updating this log properly this week.
