Thread: My Orks

    Re: My Orks

Those guys look wonderful! Your rusty effects are really great...
My only problem concern the guns, you should really drill some hole to make them more effective.
    Keep posting!

    Re: My Orks

Thanks le Mediko. Glad you like. I know, I know, gun barrels! Thats the next job.

Cheers synthet. Thank you very much! I took your advice about the red and adjusted the colour scheme accordingly. I also decided to tone back the verdigris a touch and added a little more blue.

Prepare to be bombarded by pictures of Deffkoptas:

    And finally, all three together:

Next job on the list is to drill out the gun barrels and then an update with photo of the complete AoBR Orks (it's taken long enough!)

    Thanks for looking

    Re: My Orks

Was supposed to be doing some work up at the Lake this afternoon, but I seem to have done something to my back. I was helping my Sister move house yesterday and I think the culprit was the daft size couch we had to shift (there's always one).

So, instead of lumbering stuff about I spent a couple of hours sitting in the allotment, drilling out gun barrels.

This shot is specifically for spaint2k and le Mediko

This of course means...... I'VE FINALLY FINISHED PAINTING ALL THE ORKS FROM AoBR!!!!!!!!! I started working on them in September last year. Yep, that's right EIGHT MONTHS!!!!!!! Slow painting huh?

    Here they are:

And here's a close up to show how my attempt at SENMM on the goggles turned out (though you may have to squint a bit)

Next up for me is to get the AoBR Marines painted and in between that I'll be converting some more Minoboars.

Once I have the Marines done I'll get back to painting more Deathskulls. I have the Battleforce, some Kans and a Deffdread to paint and I've been eying up some stuff on the Forgeworld website too.

Thanks for looking and have a great week folks

Great work on the koptas! Actually the whole army looks stunning! You can clearly see how much you have grown as a painter, inspirational!
About the "slow painting"...I still got AoBR orks left to paint and I got them about 1,5-2 years ago

I'm no fan of Deathskullz but uh...I think you made me a fan. The different blue tones and the extensive weathering make it work.

synthet, Mega Nutz and Naotaka, thank you very much. It's great to get such positive feedback. I'm quite pleased with how these fellas turned out and I'm glad you like them too.

I had a pleasant surprise this morning when I checked my Twitter feed. The GW Voxcaster had posted a link to a pic of my Deffkoptas on Flickr. A nice start to a Monday I reckon

Wow, love these orks. I don't often see Ork armies that bowl me over, but this is awesome. The deff koptas are just fantastic!

I love the verdigris, it's really atmospheric - want to see more!

Woohoo! Drilled-out barrels! I'd give you five stars but I already did...

The army looks fantastic, dude. 8 months is nothing compared to the joy of looking at an army as good as this one and knowing you painted it.

    Re: My Orks

ewar: cheers. Glad you like. I've just been looking at your Marines. I think orange could be the way forward

spaint2k: Thank you very much. I am pleased, just hope the next bunch don't take as long. Could be looking at middle of next year before they are finished otherwise (I will of course drill them BEFORE painting this time round)

razormasticator: much appreciated How are your Death Skulls coming along?

Probably won't be an update from me for a while now. Marines next. Soon as they are done I'll be getting stuck into more Death Skulls.

In the meantime I found this image online a while back. Much nose-laughter when I saw it. Warboss?

Thanks again for all the feedback, it has helped plenty!

    Re: My Orks

I havent even started them regretfully. I have been focusing on getting my guard out of the way. I think I am going to start them in July for the new Tale of the 40K painters.
    We shall see.

    Re: My Orks

razormasticator: looking forward to seeing them. I just had a look at you IG. Particularly like the colour scheme on your tanks.

checkerthinker: cheers. I was falling out with the last two - I just wanted to get them done! But once I got all the fiddly stuff done (mainly the pilot) they pretty much painted themselves: checks, verdigris, rust and dirty washes. So far I think the marines are going to be orange-made-up-chapter-marines, but not hundred percent certain yet. I have been slowly getting mould lines off the AoBR ones and I dug out some ancient models over the weekend so shall repaint those too.

Orodreth: thank you very much! Despite them taking way too long, and occasional moments of frustration (as with the Deffkoptas) I've really enjoyed doing them and it has given me a chance to learn and develop painting processes as I went.

le Mediko: Nice one, and thanks for getting on my case to drill them

MrWigglez: glad you like them. Thank you!

Nothing new to show you Ork-wise as I have been spending time mucking about with greenstuff making mutants for my WFRP project, and last week I began preparing the AoBR marines for painting. I reckon it could be a good month or two before I do anything Orky again. Quite keen to do so though as the small pile of boxes next to my workspace is beckoning.

    Thanks for looking,
