Having a plethora of inherited Marines (both Chaos and Loyalist) I decided to do something with them after reading Soul Hunter. Mixing and matching Loyalist and Chaos marine boxes as this Night Lords warband loots and pillages its way through the Imperium. You'll not find a bigger den of scum and villainy in the galaxy.

Since starting those guys in something of rushed inspiration, I eventually started thinking about an actual army list. I plan to start magnetizing my guys so that I can use them for various things. In the case of my Night Lords, switching between the Chaos Marine Codex and the Blood Angels Codex depending on what I feel like playing that day.
The Blood Angels came when I had a cool idea for representing my own version of Sanguinary Guard. Using bits from the Fantasy Chaos range the Chaos Knight lances became Glaive Encarmines. Originally I wanted to buy a bunch of the new fancy Forge World Ferrox Bolters to representing the Angelus Bolters. Alas, money is tight so I have settled on regular bolters for now.
Several others will be using the torsos of the Chaos Knights and most will have head swaps with Chaos Knights or Chaos Warriors. All of them will be getting Jump Packs courtesy of MaxMini as seen here:http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.ph...products_id=49
The last picture there is going to be my Sanguinary Priest/Apothecary for when I do my all Jumpers list.

Lots of nice little touches in this army so far. And I like the blue/black effect on the armor. Looks like you're off to a good start.

The Glaives are from the Chaos Knights.
Though now that you mention it the Chosen weapons could have worked too, and helped mix it up a bit.

The Night lords are looking really good, your vanguards are awesome conversions and I love the blue colour. I collected nightlords back in 2nd edition when I was like 12 and really wish I had inspiration like this, makes me want to repaint some word bearers...

Normally I will be running my Night Lords in a 1750 point Blood Angels all jumpers list.
I still like using the Chaos Codex when I don't want to do an all Jump Infantry army though. So for that, just this morning, I put this guy together. A Daemon Prince. He uses the body from Gulavhar, The Terror of Arnor. Part of GWs LotR line. The head is a metal Chaos Terminator head. Both arms just came from the regular Chaos Marine box. The hand holding the Heavy Bolter was holding a plasma pistol. I cut the plasma pistol off, cut the hand off the heavy bolter, and glued them together. The smoke stack things on his back come from, I think, the Soul Grinder.
I'll also probably use this guy in the small 40K Daemon army I have as well.
