Progress this week achingly slow but a June 2nd finish still looks doable, Assault squad progresses and should have a combat squad done by Sunday with 3 more marines just needing shoulder pads to finish. the final two members were assembled last night.
I needed flamers and didn't have any to hand so half a bolt pistol + a shortened IG flamer from the Cadian sprue will have to do, currently raiding bits box for a pair of matching tanks to complete them.

Target end date more than missed but I think finishing by 6th ed launch is not out of the question.

A good day today, apart from the 8 hours spent at work.

Go to pop into GW uxbridge and have some stunning banter as well as pre-order 6th Ed.
Store guys claiming that they've not seen the rules either!!!

In painting news Land raider hull is finished and varnished with the exception of the headlights

Little update:
Progress in the last few weeks has consisted of finishing one top hatch and everything bar the multimelta on the other top hatch and that is all.

On the plus side my Advance Ordered copy of 6th Ed ACTUALLY arrived today, please note the care which which it had been shipped. >-(

wee update,

sadly painting continues at geological pace. Landraider still not finished though the delay partially caused by me deciding to pimp it with forgeworld brass etch as well as doors etc already fitted.

The real reason for this post is I played first game of 6th ed today at GW uxbridge.
Really impressed, I played 1st ed quite a bit, a lot in 2nd ed though it was broken as hell and some 3rd, 3.5 and 4th ed.
5th ed never early grabbed me.

Really impressed with 6th ed a lot of the changes are more intuitive and do make the game flow quicker I can see beardy players not liking it but for fun pick up games it absolutely hits the spot. Thankfully like my frag missile that killed 7 bunched Orks.

Another non working weekend and it's a bank holiday- Yay!

Well actually, No, as prior to the rain coming I was painting this:

As you can see I've used a non blended wet brush technique with Dulux self undercoating paint that dried really quickly.



Thankfully it then pissed it down which curtailed any more exterior DIY, painting etc. while also not undoing any of the fence painting already achieved.

So back to models: End really is in sight, first photo shows all 5 CC terminators:
The Sargent (red weapons black helmet as per rest of army, is finished and varnished)
Every one else just needs the outside surfaces of the their shields painted, varnishing and the bases flocked, i painted the bodies and arms with them non assembled as it made highlighting the arms much easier.

The 2nd photo shows the Landraider sponsons also all done bar weathering the nozzles.

So That Concludes at least for now the Salamanders I've got some points to play with for fortifications, allies and new stuff when the 6th ed Codex eventually hits.
It's only taken nearly 20 years!!!

Choice between Orks and Dark Eldar to be finished next.
Suspect it may well be the Eldar purely due to the lower model count but we'll see, 6th Ed is suggesting some changes to the list i was working off of so...

Anyway the next few posts are basically consolidating all the Marines into one place so I'll link from the front page.

3x Combimelta and Sergeant with a Powerfist as I love the model.
I suspect that the Sergeant may get subbed in more competitive games due to the 6th Ed Challenges rule as for tactical squad one, but I'm more inclined to hang onto using this model as it just is such a good piece.

Assault Cannon and Power Fist shown, though the Lascannons and ML arms are also painted- this is the plastic dread. additional sculpting is green stuff from well before FW bits being available.

Terminators(Of both flavours used either/or)

The normal terminator squad (thanks to the free WD AoBR terminator) has both an AC and HF member painted.

Sergeant with PF, Flamer and Multimelta. Though a substitute sergeant with CCW and Combi-flamer may end up being painted up after a few more games of 6th Ed. the Challenges rules makes for some interesting choices.
