I emailed Soda Pop to ask about the contents of the game and if they were going to do starter packs for the demo rules. They had this to say...
They did ignore my question about starter deals or at least forgot it. I also noted that they didn't actually say it would be a boxed game but rather the "full gaming experience", I wonder if that means you will only be able to buy things seperately. I would be surprised if that was the case. The full game will be launched next year with MUCH more than what you see here
The metal miniatures and demo rules are just to get a flavor for what is coming - but it is safe to say that yes, the complete game experience will have a lot of miniatures, all the tokens and cards and miniatures you will need to play a full game... and then you can start collecting additional monsters, bosses, and heroes to customize your gameplay.

It is going to be a boxed game, they've said that in multiple places elsewhere.
The soft, cartoonish look to the figures and the general "old school" feel instantly reminded me of what the computer game Torchlight strived for. Interesting to see how it all ends up.
Just spotted this pic, see below. I think he's going to be the boss!

Looks like this will be released within the next month or 2 , this is apparently the contents of the boxset, and it looks really really nice.

It is indeed. Some US stores have it up for pre-order already.
I really like the half-elf Druid & his bear form! (front left of pic)
Been painting some of these and they are pretty nice - although they really need you to re-learn a different style of painting altogether which I struggled with for a while.

The models (and I've been painting some kobolds and the paladin) have very large areas that are flat and devoid of any detail at all, as such unless you can blend different tones into things like skin pretty well you'll end up with a flat looking boring model. Obviously this is just my own experience of painting these few SDE minis.
Thanks.
That worries me a bit, considering you are a far better painter than I have hope to ever become.

@hastings , It was your comment in the ogre thred that attracted my attention to this game, with your lizardmen comment

i believe level 2 (1st expansion) is to contain undead & necromancer and 2 more playable characters.
So, apologies if I have missed something, but is there a set release date for this?
Rather, a set EU release date?
I've snagged a few of the models as they had them in stock at my FLGS, and I really like the chibi theme going on, coupled with dungeon-crawling.
The box also has a nice amount of new models in it, from the picture? Anyone that can confirm the other heroes there? It looks like Druid, Priest(or, some kind of other caster), and Barbarian.
Currently painting- Super Dungeon Explore!

nurgle-boy, that looks to be about it.
What I like is that it has a double dose of kobolds; the 'squad size' from the original rulebook was 1 Priest, 2 Ironscales, 2 Flingers, 3 Knuckleheads, and 3 Gougers. I was wondering about that, though it does make me feel kinda gypped that I have 2 Ironscales and 2 Flingers without their lesser brethren... I may have to buy a full metal squad just to make up for it!
I just really, really hope they have some slightly better QA... my Elf Ranger had some serious issues with detail, and her bow was the thickness of paper; completely unusable. Had to replace it with a GW Goblin bow and an arrow from same.
I'm actually planning to make the Elf Ranger that comes in the box into a princess of some kind, since she'll be a spare.
...i want this box!
This game is a must purchase for me. It's got me more interested than anything else miniature related this year.
plus you could always use the Kobolds for a GW LM army! LOL!!!
On a serious note I've heard the rules a pretty decent, and if you took a mind to you could easily exchange the cartoony minis (if you wanted to) for some models from say Red Box Games or similar.
I still need to get round to playing with the playtest rules and all the models I bought! Should really do that befor eI buy the box set, i twont stop me if I don't though!
