    My big fat krieg project

SUMMARY (Updated as Units are Added)

I'm a Guardsman at heart and after Cadians, Catachans and Valhallans I've finally decided to take the plunge.
My Valhallans have been ebayed away and with a fist full of money I've decided to become what my wife describes as a "40K Snob"

So my mission is to amass 10,000pts of Krieg within 12months. I have some of the funds and hopefully this army will be one which I can lavish all those hard learnt painting skills on.

This summary will be updated as units are added, so rather than posting a massive wish list (though I have planned it out) I've divided my force into regiments and will add as they come into active service to keep track of my progress.

The additonal goals I'm setting myself are to do this as cheaply as possible and by that I mean I'll be doing whatever I can to pay for this project, so commissions and Bitz selling from the kits I use.
Just for fun I'll be keeping a track at the bottom of this summary of the cash earned and cash spent throughout the project.

    Heres the list:

    93rd Armoured Regiment

    1st Tank Company
    Leman Russ Executioner "Sasha" 131

    2nd Tank Company

    3rd Tank Company

    1st Heavy Tank Company

    66th Artillery Regiment

    29th Recon Regiment

    129th Infantry Regiment

    1st Platoon
    Veteran Squad 111

    THE MONEY COUNTER!

Money earned via Commissions/Bitz selling: £550

    Money spent on Krieg: £310

Enjoy my Project and expect lots of tanks and possibly the worst value for money unit ever: Krieg Conscripts!

Like I said a test scheme I think it may need some more mud and definately some battle damage, keen to know what you all think.

Again results of tests and needing more work, I've ordered a few different colours of grass to add sparingly to the bases.
This squad has no name but I have named each one, German of course, it gives guardsmen so much character when your fielding them.
    Keen to get feedback!

I also have on the workbench:
HQ command squad, Platoon Command, 2x Infantry Squads, 2x Lascannon Squads, Commissar and a Leman Russ.

More Pics soon but its been hard finding time in the run up to Xmas! I'd expect to have all this lot done by the new year then hopefully I'll be steaming into my next resin order!!!

Agreed, it needs a bit more work on the weapons. My main problem is I do most of my painting late evening, highlighting has to wait for daylight sessions! Haven't quite found the right lighting to paint details at night!

    Thanks for feedback

Look nice, like the weathering on the troopers. Nicely done.
Really love the tank. The camo on it is top-notch!
(got a question, are the Krieg troopers supplied as 2 halves like Cadians, or moulded as one?)

    Looking forward to seeing more

@PariahZero: Thanks for the feedback, as for the Krieg troopers they come as a whole figure, just need to stick the arms, some shoulder guards and back packs on.
On the squad pictured you also get power cables to connect the guns to the packs on the back, very fiddly so I'm going to use electrical cable instead eventually.

They are (well this batch I bought anyway) very well cast, I was very impressed and they are a joy to assemble. Weapon swaps pretty easy too.
Can't say the same for one variant of the las cannon teams, pretty poor and both examples of this have needed quite a bit of work.

My Lord, that coat color is awsome. Would you mind sharing it? Would love for my Engineers to have a different color than the ordinary grey-coats i have

Also good luck on this project, ill keep an eye out for sure.

Consider: What gets more honour? Slaughtering a few peasants, or sending them away to summon a real fight?
Slaughter the peasants, then fling their heads over the local lord's castle wall. He'll sally forth with retribution on his mind then you can kill him and chuck his head over the wall of the nearest city. Continue this until you get to Altdorf. Honour is for sissies; Khorne plays to win.

Its very easy to achieve. I have for this project been very bold and started everything off by spraying it skull white, I'm attempting many new things this project (for me anyway), as you'll all hopefully see along the way.

So from skull white apply a layer of devlan mud, its all about building up the colour so a thin layer is all you need, ensuring it fills the recess's of the coat though. Be careful not to let it pool on the flat areas.
When thats dry apply another layer, same as the first, of devlan mud.
I then applied, once dry, a relatively generous wash (when compared to the devlan) of Gryphonne sepia.
Thats it really, the details, like buttons etc are picked out in chainmail. If you wanted a darker coat then go for three or four layers of devlan before you apply the sepia. The magic doesn't happen until you apply that sepia layer though so faith and patience between layers is the key.
The results also increase in effect once you purity seal the whole model once completely finished.

The mud effects on the coats are various drybrushing of brown which I intend to match the bases to.

If you can believe it the tanks base coat was also done in the same manner but a slightly different layer mix.

Wait till you see my Commissars Storm Coat, I have never painted such an amazing Black Leather coat before

So pics soon of my Commissar, another infantry squad and the additional details to my already pictured tank and vet squad.

Cheers everyone for the support so far!
