Hadriel - you thinking for the Baron? Looking to build another Duke out of Corsair bits. The crossed blades one in particular.

I'm behind, particularly on looking through the other plogs in here.

Next batch of wyches in progress. Going to start on a Hellion at the weekend as well.

And more work done on the archon. I've gone with a red skin effect to help tie into the wyches as well. Trying to take my time with him.

I meant the head piece for a Helliarch or something. Just a thought I like the red on the cape. It provides a good contrast to the purple but is a similar colour pigment and saturates similarly.

Could work for the Baron as well. Looking forward to see what you do with all the Hellions you have in your new lists.

3 more Wyches done for the Dark Eldar. 3 warriors next. Probably going to need to buy some more Wyches at some point, but I shouldn't run out before April.

I think this way of keeping going on the army is working as it gives me variety whilst still getting troops done.

    Hellion is started.

The archon is also much further along and I'll get a shot of him as I think I'm done on his flame and armour now.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Well I've been making slow progress on the Dark Eldar. This painting 4 armies at the same time takes its time and real life has gotten in the way. Making certain I'm keeping going on some Dark Eldar even whilst painting up the blocks of Tau as the brightness of these guys is a nice switch from the greys I'm using for them.

    Hellion first.

Now the work through to yellow is done it's on with everything else. Going to add at least a design on one of the wings of the board. Probably using white as the colour to fit in with the white icons I've been doing on both the wyches and warriors.

Pain point markers. Doing the helmets to represent other armies I have.

Then the archon is pretty much done. I'm leaving him for a bit to get a fresh eye. The Corsair helms really do get in the way of painting the face.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Well thank you to the person who voted down the plog and didn't leave a comment. Had a surprise day off yesterday so managed to get some daylight shots taken whilst I was home and there was sun.

The Dark Eldar army painted so far.

Warriors. Definitely need to do the next batch of warriors to get these up to a ten man unit.

Only 2 wyches to do in this initial batch.

With the Hammerhead done for the Tau I started on the first raider.

At the beginning of the day. Spent part of yesterday experimenting on how I do my purple scheme to try and improve it.

    Later

And later still. It seems clear to me now that the sail and that part of the kit will be taking the rest of the time to work on. The crew are well underway and going to have the gun and gunner still removeable as that seems to still work.

I'm currently working on finishing the reaver and the hellion and getting this lot all done hopefully before starting next month's Tau batch.

I really like your Archon. I may have to steal the idea of the Duke made from Corsair bits.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Thanks for the votes, but much happier to have comments.

Abaddon - thanks very much. Trying my best on the conversions and building up an idea list for when I get to do the wracks.

Shnerg - thanks. I have my own Duke already, but I'm making another version from the crossblades Corsair body as well. The Duke is a man who would never go out in the same look twice in a row.

With the raider I've been doing really watered down layers, then less watered down layers and also tying it all together with washes as well. Main body of the raider is now done on both sides - initially I only did the one to see how it went, but it's now all done. Now it's crew and sail.

He's coming along. Since this shot his flesh skirt is mostly done as are some detail bits. Unlike his gunner counterpart I imagine this guy will be stuck in place.

Started on the sail. Been trying to figure colours for the frame and now all painted up black, but I think at least the sail bar will be a different colour. The circle is first step as I'll paint on a design now and then tidy up the circle and the design at the same time.

And the next reaver is done. Gives me a basic squad of 3 done. Probably going to do a few more hellions before coming back to the reavers to get them up to strength.

Minus the hellions at the moment I'm on about 600 points ish so my plan is to aim to get them to a 1000 in a logical manner. Next raider is going to be a wych one then its ravagers before I pick up new raiders.

Great to see some new dark eldar color schemes here on warseer! The extreme highlights really make them pop.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Abaddon - thanks. The orange is my preferred scheme between the pair of them, but painting the raider has helped me get over my problems with painting the purple.

Dwarf - thanks. I've always wanted the army to be different to anything else I was doing.

Whilst I was waiting on starting more Tau I concentrated on finishing the hellion and the raider.

Raider base body done with markings. Definitely like the blue and white effect.

    Sail in progress.

    Finished raider

And wonder where that kroot came from. That's the first raider done. The sail was a challenge and not certain it's perfect, but for now I'll live with it. The purple scheme has evolved whilst I painted it so probably happier to paint some warriors now.

Hellion all finished as well. Next up is two more Hellions to go with him and just bought another box to do up as well. Plan is to get a 1000 point force of the Dark Eldar done so going to figure where to go from these before I start my mass buying of new stuff.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Well the plan to do 1000 points has changed back into sort out 2500 because I couldn't really decide what to leave out. I suspect I'm going to end up doing a Wych force at 1000 points, but I'll see once I've done their raider. My concern with that is the lack of ability to deal with armour so we'll see.

Currently working on two new hellions

They've had the first build up of red after the basecoat of really dark red.

These guys are going to be a little slow going for a bit as I need to keep up with 250 points of Tau a month and try and finish a 1000 points of Lamenters for a Badab game in June. To be honest I'd rather be painting these guys and my Privateer Press stuff, but I've said I'd do stuff so those take priority especially in the months I'm horrendously busy.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Whilst the Tau are getting the most done on them due to deadlines I am slowly working on the Hellions.

Taking a look at the Wych army lists on GW I'm tempted, but the reality is I'm not buying a load more raiders and ravagers so they'll have to cope riding in some with warrior colours.

As I've said on my Tau thread the plan for joint fluff for the two armies is coming together. The plan, which may or may not work, is to write the fluff alternating between the Dark Eldar and Tau to build up the narrative. Also been picking up bits and pieces for the Dark Eldar so I have them to work with when I get through to May.
