Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Whilst the Tau are getting the focus I'm very slowly still going on the Hellions.

Yellows to be worked on now.

With all the talk of the next wave I'm starting to plan what to get next. Probably a battleforce if it's halfway decent which will give me loads of extras for converting. And the inevitable ghouls/flagellants to start doing some wracks.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Things are progressing over here, but slowly as I've been away with work and the Tau get the focus with the deadline looming for BOB this month.

Finally finished the next two hellions for my Dark Eldar.

    And the unit so far

Just two more to paint in this batch before I make the next 5.

Thinking about next purchases though the price rices etc are making me wary to spend more. Probably not getting flagellants to do wracks as I really don't like the legs that much though I suppose I can transplant old DE feet and green stuff the robes.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

I figured if I'm having issues doing the grey then it might distract me from painting Dark Eldar warriors so last night I started 3 more for squad 1.

Since then I've got a fair bit done on them so they looked like this a while ago.

Bit more done since and they will probably be finished by Monday. That'll leave me with 2 to finish for that squad. I can see me putting together some new figures.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Well as I'm still deciding what to paint next for the Tau I spent a bit of yesterday sorting out some stuff to make for the Dark Eldar.

These guys are going to be my new Incubi. I only have the bodies so I'll be using mirrored heads for them and the Archon body will get Demiklaivexes. They will get a nice Raider to ride on.

Meanwhile I finished building my new Duke Sliscus

I was going to give him a holstered pistol but it looked too big on him.

Then I finished the next 3 warriors

Brings the unit up to 8 and I've now sorted out the next squad to paint up. Next up are two more Hellions to bring the total to 5, Sliscus and a Hekatrix and Wych to finish off unit 1 of the Wyches.

Been working on building my new Incubi.

First one using a full Hellion blade

Second using a Dire Avengers staff

Third using the spear from the Raider.

As you can see I've tried to use the mirrored helms and hellion blades to tie them all together. Very pleased so far with them.

    Comments welcome.

That's some sexy conversions right there. Needless to say, but... Subscribed.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

    Thanks very much Xelkireth.

I picked up an Avatars of War Vampiress to convert into the lead Succubus for my wyches. If/when I get a normal Succubus model I'm probably going to convert it into another Incubi

So first thing for the conversion was to sort a head.

I've got more work to do on blending the hair - which doesn't really fit either of the original heads that came with the model either - but that seems to work.

Arm in place and since this shot moved up a little. Now to add some arm plates on the side once it's set.

Then past that I built Incubi #4

I've also done the shoulder pads for all the others so just back banners to finish sorting out.

Nicely done. How tall is the AoW mini compared to to Wyches?

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Well after a bit of messing around the first Wych squad is now done.

It's the Agoniser that takes the time because I start worrying about getting it done.

Decided with these guys to add a little more variety by doing some tattoos.

With these done I've pulled the last 2 warriors for squad 1 and the first of the new Incubi out to paint whilst I finish off the Tau. Once the Tau are done these revert to being one of the focus armies for a bit so I can get them to 1500 points at a minimum as well before doing a buy of new stuff to convert up.

Those aincubi are really sweet keravin! I may just have to use the masked heads on a squad of them.

Any specific plans to do some flyers? You could go wild on the bases.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Thanks McLucien. No plans for flyers as any funds will be going towards most of the other stuff for the army. I want to start on converting up Wracks and Grotesques for that side.

Picked up some old Confrontation models to use for various things.

These guys will all become wracks after some converting.

If you look at some of the detail I think you can definitely see why they will end up serving the Haemonculis.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Things were progressing well, but I ran out of Badab black so the jacks, assassins etc I was working on have hit a snag. Get some new wash tomorrow so I can get more done, especially with a week off work.

As a result of building for Inquisitor 28 I had spare bits and I've been thinking what I might use them for. I'd cut the body off the new Chaos Sorcerer and now looked to find him some new legs.

I think I may use it as a dark Eldar character, but I'm not certain who. Could be another Archon I suppose.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Noticed I'm behind in here. The Archon has progressed a little.

Well my clear the table mission continues. I've had 2 Dark Eldar to finish the first Warrior squad sat on my table for a bit, but now they are done.

    And the full squad

Next up finish the first 5 hellions and still got Sliscus to finish painting.

I really like the work you've done using the older parts. I have just got hold of a few sprues of old style warriors and i plan to do similar things with them such as using the alternative weapon arms and heads that would otherwise go unused.

Thanks Complicity. The older parts do fit well and the new ones really help rescue some of the older models.

I've finished one of my Duke Sliscus for my DE.

Did him with different armour colour, but still worked army colours in so he'll fit in whilst standing out. Starting on the Hellions now.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Some very interesting conversion ideas. I like how you incorporate miniatures from various systems into your force. Nice looking force.

With so many robes on her your succubus conversion would be probably better suited as lady Malys.

My only complainant is that you don't clean mould lines. Even the best painted minis looks bad with visible mould lienes so I'd consider cleaning those.

Re: Kabal of the Shadow Void

Thanks Morthai. I clean most mould lines. There always seems to be one more that I miss. Not likely to ever use Malys so probably going to stick with a Succubus as she works as the named character in my fluff.
