@ Lars: Yeah, glossy indeed. XH558 in unique as being a Vulcan with a Gloss finish for its camo!

No, the DecalFix is to help settle the decals onto the model, similar to micro sol/set. But if you let the Decalfix pool, it has a tendency of 'burning' through your paint and leaving you with a nice white spot.

Yeah, it does have raised panel lines, they aren't really visible here because of the sheer amount of sanding that I had to do to this model. I really wouldn't recommend this model if you wanted to get one (though I don't know what other options there are), the hassle involved is just too much!

Update!

Both surprises went down a treat for Christmas. Those involved were extremely happy with them. There were also a few more models gotten that will be for this log, so in due course!

So a question people, what is the best source of 1/72 HMMWV's? Need all kinds, flatbed, gunship (both .50cal and mk19), cut down spec ops type etc.
Can anyone help?

Are you looking for kits or ready-built? Wargames figures or models?

If you're looking for models, both Revell Germany and Dragon make Hummers in 1/72 scale.

OK, so an update. The next project is gonna be alittle bit of artistic licence on my part* involving a LAV-25 and some Dragon 101st men. Both in 1/35th (a first for me) More updates as the work progresses

*mainly think from Battle LA, when they get back to the FOB, and go searching for any working vehicles. That way I can excuse the fact that the LAV is USMC, but the men are Airbourne

OK so a little update - pics will follow later. The LAV has its shape made, it will be started to be painted tomorrow. Have also made a start on the men, with my own few minors touches. Till pic time....

OK. so 2 slightly blurry (sorry) pics. Tis abit late here, but my first day off in god knows how long meant this was forgotten...

1 is of the wire-cutter I've added to the body, and the turret of the LAV. Hope the pic shows what I was aiming for.

So here's a progress update.

Here's the LAV after getting a primer, but pre-stowage. The specks of green are because my primer ran out half way through spraying

And the first man from the diorama! With an AT-4, and M16/203. Any white are straps I've added from paper.

OK, just to let people know, this project is still alive. The LAV received a base layer, and the camo is going onto the man as we speak. Pics prob at the weekend.

OK, so finally an update.

Here's a pic of the first man, with a rough first coat done - and a close up of the camo. Am actually so happy with how the camo has turned out!

What era will the LAV be for? Looks like 1991 from here...

Im really planning on tying it to any one era. The transfers I have seem fairly non-specific. However, I guess it could be either '91, or early OIF. Either way, the base is gonna be a generic sand type.

No pic updates (camera gone away with my bro for the weekend0, but the 1st man complete, the 2nd is PIP and the 3rd is having final touches applied.

OK Cool. I think I was guessing 1991 because of the Fritz helmets. Maybe even hoping because I like the chocolate chip cammo, regardless of how crap it was.

I honestly don't know though, these models could (and probably are) based for 1991, but meh. Am really just doing this to get 2 boxes out of my press, and have them finished with.

OK, so this is NOT dead. The 2nd man has been finished, a base selected, and the second layer is being added to the LAV.

The main reason for the delays with this project is that the plans have kinda lost all interest to me. I'm just doing this now as I wanna see the plan through.
