There is but one word that can describe that airship:

    WOOOOOOOOOF!

Boreas I think you win at Warseer. I just want to hide my Empire now as I'll not come up with anything to rival your wonderfully insane contraptions. They're just so perfectly fitting for the Empire and to be frank I'm a little in love with them.

Thanks for the feedback! Those are some kind words!

I've undercoate the model yesterday and applied the first layer of paint (with a little help from FBI). Luckily I had the sense of mind to keep some parts of the Airship (the boiler and balloon, the cannon and the cockpit as well as all the chains) separate for painting, it will make the job a lot easier.

Thanks for watching! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread...

The awsomeness of your airship is beyond what can be expressed in mere words! I've been thinking about getting a Marienburg landship from Forgeworld, but it just seems stupid in the light of your creation. The attention to details on this huge thing is marvelous. I can say, without any reservation, that I really can't wait to see this beast painted.

Thanks for the feedback! I've got some more time now so I can respond to your replies in earnest...

    Awesome, awesome.

    ...

How do the spotters get into the crownest on top of the balloon? :P
Probably very carefull... I wanted to add a ladder of some sorts, but I couldn't get it right. I can only imagine the break-neck moves they have to perform to get up there.

    Genius. You mad, crazy genius.
    Probably my favourite piece yet.
You are a constant source of inspiration / frustration
Thanks! Always nice to be a source of frustration I promiss you I won't make anything unusual after I've finsihed this project...

Boreas I think you win at Warseer. I just want to hide my Empire now as I'll not come up with anything to rival your wonderfully insane contraptions. They're just so perfectly fitting for the Empire and to be frank I'm a little in love with them.
Thanks! Don't hide your empire, it's a very cool army! Besides, I might be persuaded to take on some commission work

    *mutters* slave labour.....

Stop complaining We got a lot of work done yesterday...

Thanks! Well, actually the Forgeworld Landship has been the reason I almost cancelled the whole project... As the Landship was first released I wasn't exactly satisfied with the design of my Airship and I feared I couldn't compete with the Landship and I even considered buying one myself...

I've got a couple of pics of the paint as it is now, just to keep you posted...

A wip of the balloon... The first layer of green and the first few layers (Tallarn Flesh and Bleached Bone) as base for the white are done. The basecoat for the crows nest is more or less done, I have to finish the trimming and the banner with flag. The guns will probably be the last to get finished.

A wip of the cockpit... For now only Calthan Brown and Boltgun Metal. The metal parts still need some patching up and the instruments need a lot of detail.

Just keep in mind it's still very much a work in progress... The Airship itself has been painted in Calthan Brown and Boltgun Metal. It's bigger than I expected (which means a big surface to paint) and it took me quite some time to just give the whole model a basecoat... More updates coming soon!

Thanks for watching! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread...

This easily competes with the landship, I'd even go so far to say that it's better.

Good to see a bit of paint on the old gal (presuming it is a she). Have you christened him/her/it yet?

Thanks! I don't know if it's better, but I can certainly say I like it more (even though I like the Landship quite much)!

I won't rest before the Airship is finished! It will get painted, even if it's the last thing I'll do...

I haven't decided on a name yet, but a few have come up... FBI introduced the 'Booze Cruiser' which fast became 'Der Sauf Kreuzer'. In Dutch that translates to 'Zuipschuit'. Stirlanders like their ale hot, so it might be appropriate... As said before, I'm open to suggestions (that's a hint )!

Well, unsure of translations here (or if it will even translate), I'll have to leave to you.
The best I can do for a name is:

The Drunken Steamboat of Agitated/Spasmodic Cloud-faring/Air-faring?

Tried to create the sense that this thing would be jerking about all over the place while in the air, not helped of course by a Stirlander Crew downing flagons of steaming ale!

The airship is absolutely fantastic, easily competes with the Landship Forgeworld put out.

How many crew members are you thinking of putting on it?

Did you carve the wood grain or were you able to find textured plasticard, I'm guessing carved, any advice on how to beginner should approach doing something similar (creating nice looking wood I mean, the airship itself would be a little too ambitious)

Thanks! I've constructed six crewmembers (see the pics on the previous page) but I might make some more. Athough there is'n't much space left I'll probably end up making some more to give the Airship a crowded feel...
I'll make a little tutorial on how to get the woodgrain on the plasticard and try to put it up asap...

That really appeals to me! In charachter with the names given to all the other weapons the Engineers invented. There is no need to translate the name, something like this sounds just right in English. You are clearly going in the right direction!

Any more suggestions on a name for this contraption? Let me know! The longer the better...

    More updates coming soon!

Boreas von Donnerhosen's Marvellous Majestic Mellifluous Personal Aerial Conveyance of Agitated and Spasmodic Cloud-faring (and Pugilistic Platform Extraordinaire)

Why take just one of them?

On a different note: Stunning and inspirational work, Boreas! Both here and in the Mordheim thread. Your work on the buildings is a great help for my own terrain work, and this thread is making me want to start working on my own Empire army again

    Awesome paint WIP.

As for how they get up there. How about some handholds on the balloon itself instead of a full fledged ladder?

So apart from the one guy who gets to steer the ship, will everybody else be toting guns? Or are you going to do a few trying to skewer something as they float by?

I think a pirate-ish monkey or parrot would go well as well.

Have you tried doing a rope ladder? That way it could lie on the ballon, without adding a great deal of bulk.

Re: 'Crazily Religious' and 'Technologically Advanced'; An army of the Empire (Stirla

Issa got an idear for the name of the invention as a whole:

[Insert Inventing Engineer's name here]'s Splendiforous ship of Gaseous Mainsailing.

Basically, I tried to take a note from the Empire book with that.

But, for this individual machine, I would go for something along the lines of a bird, like:

The Avian, The Imperial Hippogryph, The lead Cloud, or something more religousy, like Sigmar's Deliverance, Avenging Angel, Ulric's Hammer (if you're into that)

Or, you could also use a name that combines Fluff and Games, and after the first game you use it in, you could make a reference to the oddest thing that it did/ happened to it. Something along the lines of:

[again, your Engineer's name]'s Rat smasher, Sigmarite Fireworks, The Flying Pig, and, most notably, The Count's New Toy.

I hope these help, I really came up with them on the spot, but I hope you enjoy them.
