Boreas. It just came to me, that You already have splendid replacment for mortars. Those pidgeon squadrons!!!! They have better Str., are armour piercing, they need to "misfire" them twice to destroy themselves and chances of a hit are fairly even Template is smaller but they are cheaper!

No? Don't let the rest of the crews hear that...

Thanks! I used the same technique on my scratch built Airship, so this particular projecs was quite easy as it's a lot smaller... The process is fairly simple and, with a little practice, can be used to great effect...

Indeed... Too bad the range for our plump breasted feathered friends is now limited to 24 Inches (though they no longer require line of sight). I often used a single Engineer armed with Bomb Pigeons (I only have one 'converted' model), and I have seen some considerable success with him... It's one of those flavourful elements that make The Empire such an attractive force to play...

I've added a pic for those of you who haven't seen my Engineer with scratch built pigeon coop yet...

I've just placed an order at Forgeworld... I only barely contained the urge to ditch my Stirlanders and order a huge number of Chaos Dwarfs (and some proper Mortars). Instead I ordered the new Monstrous Arcanum book. The Tamurkhan book proved to be a very enjoyable read and looks very nice, too, so I figured I should pick this one up, too... I also ordered something else (just wait for pics)...

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread...

Thanks! This particular Engineer was done a couple of months ago. Somewhere buried deep within this thread there are several wip pics to be found of him (and many other weird contraptions)...

Thanks! I will definately let you know what the book is like... Judging by their previous work, it's bound to be nice!

    Small update...

I've finally finished the master for my Demi Gryph bases... It took me quite some time (again) to carve all the individual tiles, but in the end the result justifies all the effort. This base will be added to my collection of bases, which now numbers 12 different sizes (all of which are available for trade/sale)... In fact, the first few casts of this particular base aren't even for my brave Stirlanders, but for a fellow forum member who has ordered a whole batch, including a couple of the Demi Gryph bases...

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread...

Good to see that engineer painted; great work as always!

Many Demigryps planned? They have some very nice models, and are indeed practically too good to ignore in the game.

You have some really nice stuff going on here
"Though our fair homeland is beset on all sides, we shall resist, as our forefathers did before us.
In these dark times, as our tainted brethren ravage our shores, we stand defiant and shall emerge victorious.
For we are the Asur, the true kin of Aenarion, and Ulthuan shall never fall."

    Awesome pigeons!

Tamurkhan is a wonderful book! I finally got myself a copy at the weekend and I had great fun flipping through it. I will definitely get Monstrous Arcanum too.

Thanks, though the Engineer was painted quite some time ago, it still is one of the better models in my collection...

The new Knights are indeed too nice to ingore (don't even know their full rules, but the models are very, very nice)... I already have a single box of Demi Gryphs awaiting assembly, but that would just mean a command group and nothing else, so most likely I'll expand the unit to 6or maybe even more. I'm planning on building them as a mercenary band rather than a knightly order so I'll be arming them in a variety of ways (mainly because I just can't choose between the lances and the halberds, both are very nice)... I already have some plans to make the unit stand out just a little more.

Thanks! The pigeons are a firm favourite from the Empire arsenal!
I'm really looking forward to the monsters in the book (and the models that are sure to follow)... Most of the entries from the Tamurkhan book already have models released, so there's bound to be something that I would like to include in my Empire army!

    Anyway, small update...

I've finished the mold for my Demi Gryph base so I can begin casting as soon as it's cured. As I said, the first couple of casts have already been spoken for, but as soon as that order is completed I can start my own Demi Gryph unit (big plans)...
For later this week we (FBI and myself) have planned a small battle (skirmish style)... I am to assemble a band of characters to hunt down a Vampire Lord. I'm planning to field a couple of different characters, a Captain, a pair of Warrior Priests, a Witch Hunter (maybe even two) and an Engineer. If I can find the points, I might even include a Wizard... We'll be using my Mordheim board (just a few characters, it should work just fine)... Expect some pics!

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread...

O, and a 5 stars for the OP
Thanks! There is no shame in being a Nederlander!

Tonight FBI and me played a couple of skirmish games... I even remembered to take some pictures!

    First up: the battlefield!

    My Mordheim board...

A few pieces of my modular dungeon...

The battlefield was split in two different levels, above and below ground... Our first idea was to link them both together using both my mausolea as entrances to the dungeon. After a moment of consideration we decided it would be better to keep it simple and play two separate games (one above ground and one below ground).

    Next up: the opposing forces!

FBI brought his Vampire Lord... Around 300 points worth of bloodthirsty, ill tempered fangs and claws!

My hunting party... After the release of the most disappointing new Empire book, my officers decided to organise a team building activity to boost morale. And what would be better than a Vampire Hunt? So, my men boozed up, strapped on their armour, polished their weapons and waxed their stashes and went in search of their quarry...

We played the first game in the dungeon. My men split up and started the hunt... As they closed on the Vampire, they even managed to get in a couple of shots and even wound the leech! As Combat started FBI decided to use magic to summon back a couple of his wounds...

As you can see, something went horribly wrong... His spell caused a disastrous miscast, making the Vampire suffer another wound. The remaining Stirlanders then proceeded (after losing two of their number to the Vampire's attacks) to chop the beast to pieces.
After such a quick game, we decided to swap places. FBI took command of my hunting party and I used his Vampire... I fully expected the Stirlanders to vanquish the Vampire again. Alas, FBI managed to get all my Stirlanders killed (in a suitably messy fashion) without causing so much as a dent in the Vampire.

After that, we moved the battle to the streets!

That battle proved as bloody as the first two

The Stirlanders cornered the Vampire! The beast must have felt that escape would be impossible and charged in... Both Witch Hunters and both the Warrior Priests were killed in the following combat, but the Captains managed to kill the Vampire (bit by bit)...

We had a couple of great games! Fun, fast and bloody! The Vampire was really scary (the kind of scary that makes you want to change your pants) and the Stirlanders only managed to best him thanks to their superior numbers (and the fact that they were properly boozed up might have helped, too)...

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread...

Sounds like a very fun game. I do things like that from times to times (like the infamous attack of the monsters scenario). So, you dislike the new Empire armybook that much?
