So you covered the inside of your ASS? Most people only bother with covering the outside.

Interesting storage system, although I think some kind of lid for the topmost crate would be in order. The lid could be another crate, with some simple locking-into construction (plugs and holes). Do you tie the crates together through the holes in their rims for safer transportation?

Or you could continue the theme and use magnets. No hassle (apart from aligning properly), and the components will hold together much more easily than with wire or other such things.

Furthermore, their magnets aren't expensive, they are very, very strong and they have a huge range of different magnets! Check them out!
Thanks for that link! That should prove useful in the future!

Nice storage system btw, I'm always struggling myself to get enough capacity to transport (and store) my own large armies. The magnetic crates are a very good solution!

The black foil makes your storage crates look a bit more finished. I await your next project!

A couple of fellow gamers have magnetized armies. They also have all metal tool boxes full of those armies, models, goodies.

They bought the tool boxes on sale at local stores selling that stuff. Heavy to carry.....BUT safe, safer than boxes.
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?

I think I'd go for tool boxes too, but the very idea of magnetizing my whole army feels me with dread. I got several hundred models in there :/

I won't be adding a lid as some of my models (most notably my Steamtank, War Altar and BSB) won't fit inside if anything is placed on top of the crate... These models will always have to be in the top crate and so no lid is possible. As for linking the crates together, I thought about that... I might add some kind of belt, but that's something that I'll have to go looking for...

That would be cool, but I doubt it would be strong enough... Fully packed crates are bound to be heavy!

Thanks! Give it a try, after all it was rather easy getting all the stuff together...

I found one of those, too... Bit too expensive and too small for my taste (at least the one I found) but I can easily imagine them to be quite practical... If only to bludgeon your opponent with if he's cheating...

Aha, I can relate to that... I've spent the last week fitting every model possible with magnets and I'm not even close to being finished...

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread (101 votes and counting)...

Hmm. I may have a problem with Stirland now sadly. After you pointing out the dislike of halflings I went off to read my background more carefully and Stirland no longer seems like such a good fit for me. I'm looking to create a force that can have a fluffy alliance with my Dwarfs and the location I've picked for my hold is very close to the Moot so I wanted a lot of halflings in the army. Upon further reflection it looks like I may have to up sticks to Averland to use my halfling models, plus Dwarfs are very welcome there and they may well have objected to the hot ale thing anyway.....and I'd never have been accepted by those insular Stirlanders anyway!

Thanks for the good wishes towards my painting - I really should get started - if I can get my camera working I'll try and get a plog of my own. Nice work with the black plastic btw - makes your ASS look very professionally done!

Thanks! We should plan another game as soon as possible, you can see my ASS in person... I don't remember if you have a suitable table/room, but now I can come to you, too...
Don't have a table yet I needed to change my plans since one room does now have designation. So I need to make boards that I can stow away. Will be done next holliday since I will need to do a lot of wood work. So if you don't mind untill then we need to play our battles on your table. July will be more time for me, how about you? Will send you a mail.

Thanks! You certainly did your homework... Stirlanders aren't overly fond of Halflings, that's for sure. You should really pick the province that suits you best, just make sure you like the colours you'll be painting them.

I'm looking forward to your plog, let me know when it launches!

    Massive update!

Yesterday it was 'meesters- en juffendag' at my school (it would translate as teachers day in English) and one of my pupils gave me this mug as a present...

    Cute, right?

The best part is the name tag can be removed and is kept in place by magnets (and no, I didn't do this myself)... This gave me a chuckle and promptly spawned the following idea...

I proudly present the sequal to Fridgehammer: Mughammer! Want to play a fast battle during your coffee break? This might well be the answer! All you need is a magnetised mug and two magnetised miniatures. A simple challenge can be fought in minutes, giving your coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) some time to reach an agreable temperature to drink.

On a more serious note, I'm almost done working, just one more morning and I don't have to think about school for six whole weeks... Also, I'm in the process of painting 'The Crown Jewel', quite slow, but the basics are mostly done and I can now begin with the details and crew...

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread (101 votes and counting)...

Aah you're a fellow teacher... my students only ever give me beer and wine at the end of a schoolyear. Must be they think I'm some kind of alcoholic.

I love this whole thread by the way. Amazing skills combined with a lot of dedication make some great inspiration for the rest of us. Thanks! I'd rate this thread as more than excellent if I could!

I can only hope so... It's not something I openly bring into my classroom very often but I sometimes do share cool projects or finished models and bring some Hirst blocks from time to time... Over the last couple of years I even managed to draw a couple of pupils into the hobby...

Thanks! I told my pupils I don't drink alcohol so I got a lot of candy (mostly chocolate) and that's fine with me

The Stirlanders will get some more attention now my vacation has begun! 'The Crown Jewel' is currently on my paint station as is one of my Helblasters... I also managed to find a couple of nice plastic gears/cogs so maybe I'll start another project soon.

Re: 'Crazily Religious' and 'Technologically Advanced'; An army of the Empire (Stirla

    Small update...

A few WIP shots from 'The Crown Jewel'...

As you can see the basics are more or less finished... The big base for the Cannon is also finished but not on the picture. The Ogre and crew (all except for one model are easily removed for painting purposes) are going to be fun to paint!

And a couple of shots from the last crewman I converted last night...

I was still a crewman short (I wanted two separate crew to be used as counters) as I misplaced the original model I intended for this purpose... As I also wanted to use a wheelbarrow somewhere on this model I came up with this simple conversion. I'm still undecided as to what I want him to transport. I might add a giant cannon ball, a keg of gunpowder or a chest of some kind... The connection between the handles and the hands is a bit messy but it should do fine when the model is painted...

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread (104 votes and counting)...

Is it really odd? It is usually the miniatures that grounds ones collection in the impression of a down-to-earth life with tools, families and so on going on beyond one's battle line that speaks most to me. I like the wheel barrow man as well and the Crown Jewel is looking fine.
