    You... you... you are painting?
    *starts tearing up*

I am so proud of you!

You have such cool conversions though. I was like "whoa, where's that sword from?", and when you mentioned Karl Franz, I was like Oooh, I have that box!! So now I know where to look. I actually scored a 70% discount on Karl Franz (and a box of Chaos Warriors... I mean... 70% discount! Why not?) a little over a week ago. I was very happy.

Now... I need to get painting again myself. Those bleeding militia don't paint themselves (unfortunately)

'Schwung' is indeed the right word, and he got heaps of it!

I can't wait to see the background for him!

I see you did some serious batch painting since I last checked your log. Quite impressive.
And solid conversion, though I have to say, you're probably the only person I know, that would saw a limited OOP mini in half for a conversion. Looks great though.

Sounds cool, looking forward to those pics!

Thanks! I have several cutting mats, but all of them were stored upstairs, in my game room, and I was too damn lazy to walk up all those stairs (I had a long day and it was hot)

Schwung! Even the word itself has it... By naming him my Count, his background is somewhat restricted but that shouldn't be a problem... He is still very cool!

Thanks! I only cut up LE or OOP models if/when I'm confident enough I won't screw it up... Suffice to say I messed up quite some. This one turned out quite well indeed!

Got to go, my painting company is here...

Re: 'Crazily Religious' and 'Technologically Advanced'; An army of the Empire (Stirla

After an evening spent in idle banter (pluizig en blauw) I so have some progress to show you...

I've finished one of my Witch Hunters! To be honest, I already did most of the basics during my vacation but adding the details took longer than I expected.

One of the most striking features of the model is his two-tone greatcoat, something that isn't wholly apparent on the pics... After looking at the pics I think I should have waited until tomorrow. It's likely I'll take some new pics with daylight as these aren't too good... Waiting until the wash of Devlan Mud has dried completely may also benefit the quality of the pics
Even though the pics aren't that good, I'm still pretty pleased with the final result. The model is dark and a bit gritty, just what you'd expect of a Witch Hunter. Despite being very different from most of my other models he has no problems whatsoever fitting in due to his base, his big red feather and his tight green pants

This is the first Finecast model I painted and while I was moderately positive before, my opinion has somewhat changed. While painting the model I encountered several flaws, mostly in the smaller details, that really bring the model down. Imperial skulls are just fine, but a skull with seven holes is a sign of Chaos, don't you agree?

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread (111 votes and counting)...

Firstly, well done on being brave enough to hack up those LE/OOP models - your Elector Count conversion is quite simple (even if it involved lots of careful hacking!) and looks unique and indeed awesome!

Good paint job on him and the Witchhunter too...

Wonderful model , and great paint job. Indeed that cloak just invites to a party of effect and detail .. feel like getting him my self now ~~;; never saw him from behind ... as they say.
Looking forward to see him in the morning, if you decide to rephoto.

Sad to hear that the fine cast is not that great :/ I've only painted 1 my self - that was a Dwarf Ducal guard from the Scribor miniatures .. pretty cool model, and no flaws. But now I fear that my future purchases will be fail casts ...

Do the rest of you guys share the same experience with that material?

Thanks! The conversion is indeed very simple but works great nonetheless...

Thanks! The model is just great, easy as that, a worthy addition to any Empire army... Expect more pics tomorrow, I think I can do better these...
About the Finecast quality, it's not that he's missing huge chuncks of his face or something, but several of the smaller details weren't as sharp as you'd like them to be and there are more air bubbles than one would expect...

My own finecast Witch Hunter had a lot of annoying bubbles and flaws. I'm just gonna use a Mordheim or WHQ metal instead I think.

I never saw the defects until the packaging was torn apart and the model was cleaned up and glued to the base. Look at it from a worms eye view and there are way too many bubbles.

You could still try, usually they don't make a fuss to exchange faulty minis.

Ahhh... Worry not, it shall come!! But I really want both of us to have a solid force painted before we do that. It will happen, it will be epic, but the time is not yet.
I should continue on my Gryphon now, which I scored in Doetinchem by the way. The store there was done for.
EDIT: PS, how does Storm of Magic sounds? Those battles are the most epic and most memorable... and really are all laughs and zero competition.

Don't know about Storm of Magic, I only have one single Wizard and a Giant, that would be all... However, I'm all for laughs and zero competition, even for first games! As for the painted force, I'm getting there...

I took some fresh pics of my Witch Hunter...

I think these new pics are a bit better than the ones from last night. Hope you like him...

Oh that's a lovely coat that Witch Hunter has. I really need to get ahold of that model

Lovely Witch hunter, menacing and flamboyant at the same time. The look on his face is similar to: "Yes, I have a massive feather in my hat and tight green trousers. Want to make something out of it?"

I also like the converted Elector Count. There is, however, a problem. While the model looks fine, there is an area where he is lacking: the hat. Yes, he has a sculpted eagle on his helmet, but I feel that the eagle could have had a hat as well, for some hatception.
