I have a few projects that have been on my desk for years: a forgeworld avatar, an old-school land raider, some death guard terminators, amongst others. My Dark Angels Army is more than complete, but i usually find something to update or more to paint around the time a tournament comes up. I've also got an embarrassing amount of spinespur minis to paint, as well as some confrontation stuff that ought to get finished at some point, because my color scheme kicks ass.

this has been on my desk since february of '05. I originally bought it to paint it up for my then girlfriend for her birthday. Now, she is my ex-wife, so there's quite a bit of emotions tied up in this. my logic for having this half finished on my desk went something to the tune of 'if i don't finish it, we'll be together forever.' Forever, however, disagreed with me. So, at the next viable gift-giving event, i'm giving it to her as a subtle hint that despite how i may feel from time to time, and despite what she might think, there's no going back.

so after years of searching for this mini, i've finally found it, and at what resembles a reasonable price (mental note: I still have to leave feedback for this). I wouldn't have normally gone in for a librarian, but it was a package deal, and considering that i didn't have one, it might be nice to paint one up for when the rules aren't ****.

the lighting is crappy on this one. you can't really see the additional highlighting and shading on the cloak or the armor.

Are those glas vials a sort of painting tool or just your way of posing the models for photography?

the glass jars are something i had left over from a christmas project i did. I was able to get a few dozen of them pretty cheap from a place called Christmas Tree Shops here in america. it's a junk repository of sorts, and they often have discontinued brands or last year's styles, &c. Normally I stick my miniatures on an empty film canister using some blu-tac, but my stash is somewhere in the basement, and these jars were readily available. the purpose of this is to keep my greasy fingers off the miniature. when i paint something that i can't avoid touching, i try to wear nitrile gloves.

I should be able to get some painting in by the end of the week, once my son goes back to his mother's for a week. he's taken a little too keen of an interest in my painting for the moment... maybe in a few years when he can actually focus on something for more than ten minutes we can paint together, but as a three-year-old, our options are limited.

thanks guys. the pic makes it look a little better than what it actually is, but it's still pretty awesome. I think i'm going to try some kind of freehand doodle or edging along the bottom of the cloak, but i'm largey done with Him. I'm waiting on some illicit copies of the DA backpack so that i can put them on all the dudes that came in the 'masters of the chapter' box. I'm also gearing up to do some bitchin' wave serpent conversions, as would be befitting of Yme-Loc.

i'd also have more don on my farseer, but my fiery orange seems to have been misplaced. I'm waiting on some more of the DA captain backpacks so i can trick out the 'masters of the chapter' box that i bought so long ago too.

Loving the DA's you make me want to go and dig mine out again for the 3rd time in a couple of weeks. I like the bone on beakie helmet, never thought of doing that set's him apart a bit more and breaks the colour. You have a very nice and tidy dark green and both your cloaks are looking superb.

Really liking your Dark Angels. The cloth has come out fantastic. Very nice red and bone colours.
