Wow. I do believe you could get a silver, if not gold, in a Golden Daemon contest with any of the tanks here. I love the colours being bright but not overwhelmingly so.

That's very high praise! But I do believe there are a lot of talented painters out there that have a lot more attention to details then I have! I am however very happy that you like them!
Good thing you're still able to type

Quick update for today, I've done a lot of soul searching for my other successor chapter and I'm starting to get somewhere with the general idea (now I just have to pound out the details and get going). Other then that I've been painting the turret on the Baal Predator (which took me AGES to highlight), here's an update, still very WIP:
C&C always welcomed!

Awesome. Truely awesome.
Just speechless. That is one sweet fantastic baal predator.

MD: You got a christmas gift?
House: Yeah, 'cause I worship Santa. Or wait, is that Satan? I always get them mixed up.
Stunning work, the painting i first class!
i still think you're a witch for having painting skills that are so unnaturally awesome.
Thank you!
Then consider the fact that I'm going to make a squadron of 3...
Thank you!
Perhaps not a witch, maybe a warlock?

Minor update on the baal predator, painting is going slow these days:
I'm having trouble finishing up the freehand, specially on the sides, which I think is putting me off and making me reluctant to paint it. I have some idea about mirroring the freehand on the dozer on the side doors that might work out, if I keep at it I'll reach that stage tomorrow.

That is beautiful. I am very jealous of your freehands. The precision with which you paint is incredibly enviable.

Your eyes might deceive you a bit, or perhaps the photos, when working as close to it as I do I see errors all over as I proceed. But I also know some of them will be hidden by the weathering later on and then again most faults won't be visible when actually playing the game or looking at the vehicle from an arms length. Thanks for the comment!
----
Since last time I've gotten some more freehand work done. To be honest I'm all emptied out on this vehicle now, I'll have to push to get it done but it should be possible. I know there are some areas that could use touch ups but I'm fed up with the birds and I'll try to cover some of those mistakes by wear and tear instead in the weathering process. I still have some stars to do on the rear and the front sides (along with highlights on those black areas). After that it's minor details (lenses, lights and metal parts) then it's all weathering with mud and paint chipping (the tracks will stay black till the very final step of the weathering process which is when they get a metallic sheen, I've found that to be the easiest way to "paint" them).

I hope to have another update for you later tonight!

Gave you 5/5, good work.

In the words of Jerry Maguire - you had me at hello.
I share your addiction.
I concur with the above quote.
But aside from this, your work is mindblowing! I love the expression and freedom your minis contain while still fitting firmly in the 40k genre. Not many have the talent you have, to combine such things.
Verily I say unto thee; this log surpases the good, into the legendary.

Thanks!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it!
Thank you for the very kind words!
Hehe, I do need the motivation, otherwise I'd probably just paint a unit for each army and never progress as much as I have done. Sticking to the theme has forced me to pick up quite a lot of tricks and I think that will be good to have should I ever "fall off the wagon" and start doing things all over the place again.
----
I was hoping to get more done on the predator today (I was hoping to finish it actually) but it took me AGES to do the highlights on the black parts. This is where it stands at the moment. I've started to weather it, done some dust effects on the bottom and some paint chipping. Tomorrow I'll be adding metallic weathering, smoke stack ash, finish of the lenses and the lamps as well as doing the final "mud" cover to tie it together with the other vehicles better.
----
More to show tomorrow (hopefully).
Till then, live well!

Hm, I was planning on doing only one, but I might come up with an excuse to make more. I'll have to rummage through my bit box and see if I have enough parts for more of them. The most challenging part was to dremel out all the parts that needed to be replaced (the helmet being a particular hard fit combining a dremeled out helmet with a dryad skull). I'll see what I can do...
Also, I love cookies!
Oh, kind words from a skilled artisan, without exaggeration I must admit that I've rummaged through all your logs and found them all to be great inspiration for my own dabbling! That's probably the best part with the community - the giving and taking. I find that my creativity really takes of when I can see what others have done and make spin-offs or become brave enough to actually try something!
Thanks!

Baal Predators, within the Brethren of the Phoenix, along with their crews typically serve in squadrons of 3 vehicles. With a crew unit of between 2-4 Battle-Brothers serving with every vehicle. Most common configuration is a squadron of 3 vehicles with a total of 10 marines, the additional marine being the squadron commander which is usually drafted from the veteran company. This particular configuration is called a Hesperides squadron and acts as a front-line scout and reconnaissance utility with a broad and powerful short- to midrange fire capability should it be needed.
Gloam is the name of this particular Baal Predator and she is a member of one of the many Hesperides squadrons utilized by the Brethren during conflicts in urban territories. Her particular squadron was named "Dusk-bringer" after their brutal front line assaults with flamer weapons in the Hive city of Arellexion IV which was a turning point in the war against the planets corrupt leaders.
The crew members of Baal Predators are used to proceed to forward positions and set up their tanks in deep cover while they await further orders or send out smaller squads for reconnaissance missions. To pass time they often spend it painting patterns on their tanks in order to bond with and please the machine spirit of the vehicles. This is no easy feat seeing as they also have to at least try to take camouflage into consideration as they adorn their vehicles. Because of this many of them choose to paint their tanks in darker colours.
Gloam, of the Dusk-Bringer squadron, Baal Predator pattern armoured scout tank:
And here she is with the other vehicles (yes, the repressor has lost its dozer - it fell of at the last game I played). For those curious, it's the exact same mud mix used on all these vehicles - you can definitely see what difference a background colour can do to anything applied on top of it:
Time Spent: ~18 hours
This proved to be quite the challenge for me. This was my first vehicle with black parts on it since I restarted my interest for Warhammer 40k and since I've taken a real interest in painting these miniatures to a high standard. It was a very time consuming to highlight the armour and it was harder to do compared to red highlights. On the other hand I also found out that black fields lend themselves very well to freehands (the space pattern came out fantastically well in my opinion).
That's about it for now, my mind is a bit tired.
C&C welcome as always.

ok well what would it take to convince you to make another or even buy the bits to make one? any form of tutorial would do, even a bullet point list would be great.

It is a big pain for me to see those beautiful machines spoiled by dirt, but seriously, it looks good! This is how Astartes tanks have to look like!
I think I'm gonna dirt my own tanks, too. they are to shiny right now.
