    Possessed Warbands

Me and a friend are starting a Mordheim campaign and I think I'm going to go for Possessed.

My problem is that I want this to become a proper Chaos army at some point and while I can think of obvious uses for nearly all of the models I'm planning to use, there is no unarmoured Hero in the Warriors of Chaos book.

Basically, my question is: how good is the Magister with armour and is losing his magic worth it? He'll be based on a Marauder whatever happens, just with a load of stuff from my bitz box, so all I'm really worried about is that he'll be feasible.

    Thanks

I would definitely not take away his ability to cast spells, wait until he can learn the skill "warrior wizard" if you really want to give him armor.

However, I find that most people really aren't too picky about WYSIWYG armor in Mordheim, even if they are WYSIWYG gamers about weapons and equipment. Most people are also pretty forgiving about models serving double-duty in Mordheim & Warhammer. I think most people would understand an armored sorcerer being used for a magister.

You could always pretend it is just costume armour until you get the Armoured Wizard skill. For the most part though, those that I play with at least would be fine with just using the model and saying he has no armour until you can get the skill and buy it for him.

Heck, GW made a Marienburg champion that come with a handgun modelled on it, and this despite the fact that Champions can't take handguns. Most people are fine with me having a few games until I can get the skill that allows him to take it for real.

You could also do what some players do with the Possessed list and try to kill of their Magister after they get a henchman promoted to Hero.

Our group isn't too picky as long as the mini's are painted. I know one of the local stores is a stickler for that sort of thing, so it depends on your venue what your options are.
