    Sinner's Lizardmen WiP

Yes, it is time for another Lizardmen army! It took me a few days, but I am finally happy with the scales on my Saurus Warriors. Since I am new here, let me show you what i have tried so far:

From left to right they go from old to new.
And now for the definitive look:

Yes it does look quite a bit like the other ones. Though the first 2 (especially in real life) look very wet, which I did not like.

Ofcourse this is still a WiP as well, but I am finally happy with the scales and belly!
I am unsure what I should paint the caps on the spines and head... thing though. I am thinking of a sort of obsidian look or something. Definitely not gold though. Any suggestions?

More to come later on I'm sure, most likely some Skinks too, which I do want with a wet look. Perhaps.. maybe, I will see about that. =)

This looks promising... The Saurus Warrior already has a nice dark look, better than the ones from the book (which are way too bright for my tastes).

    I will be following this!
Check out my Mordheim scenery! NOW! I mean... Please... Only if you want to of course...
Get your ale while it's still hot! And discover why Stirland should rule The Empire...

    Boreas_NL - cheers

Cragum - Something bright probably, either the boring/standard green, or maybe yellow... purple also sounds promising.. i have to admit i usually make these things up as i go until i find something i like
and since its lizardmen we're talking about, i get to have plenty of variation between units, yay, i'll see if i can start them when i get bored of these saurus warriors.

Anyway, my saurus warrior is done:

The greenstuff on the base is my very very first attempt at doing anything with it. Oh and it's a little cracked tile, if you did not see =p
For the basing i will probably use some small aquatic plants with here and there a green stuff'd tile or something.

anyone have some tips on making the rest of the base look a little grassy? i've tried on a test base to fill it up with static, but that looks horrible in my opinion:

Funny how something that looks bad in real life, looks good on a (bad) camera and vice versa... -.-
Yo momma's so fat, she has to roll 2d6 for impact hits!

We're not just going to shoot the basterds. We're going to cut out their living guts, and use them to grease our treads!

I think you definitely picked the best of the the three. The one in the middle is a little bit bright for my liking.

Try and put a wash on one or two. For their head-caps, try using extreme highlights to make it look like a kind of diamond, or obsidian as you said you wanted it to be.

I have to say the grassy base in the photo is about the most "realistic" bit of turf I have seen modeled. Is it the usual sand --> black paint --> static grass method?

    Re: Sinner's Lizardmen WiP

Slight threadomancy there I think =p
But yeah, I just do the sand before I basecoat my model, paint it with scorched brown, then stuff grass over the whole base by putting superglue over the all the sand and 'sprinkling' grass over it.

    More examples of said stuff.

you might want to go back over the scales one more time with a slightly lighter red
just a quick drybrush, or mostly dry so long as it doesn't drip into the cracks.
this willl give the scale a bit more depth. Also washes are great stuff,
    especialy for painting Lizardmen.

I have to be honest and say I've pretty much abandoned my LM for the moment, in favour of my Vampire Counts and Dark Elves.. =p
I might go back to them one day though, so still thanks for the tip.

    Two things:

    1) It is a very effective looking basing method

    2) You should start (if you haven't already) a VC plog - they look pretty damn good

    D'aww don't make me blush.
I might make one as soon as I have some more posts, and more things to post. Since i don't raffle my units off in mass-production, it takes a while to get things done.
