    Re: New Stormraven model?

Here are some close ups on the Dread sprues sent to Morticon from BnC:

    Enjoy!

EDIT: Mods forgive my post, but I thought that is relevant to the SR since it is included in the same release

I need to see that giant head in context with another model. By itself it looks like the Face of Boe.

At least they're plastic. The amount of cutting/scraping necessary to use them for a successor chapter or anything else is pretty high. And in several cases recessed and difficult to get at.

well for a successor chapter, you might as well just convert a normal dreadnought.

No... a BA successor chapter should be able to pick up the box for the dreads in the BA codex and put it together, not kitbash it with something else.

I assume it's supposed to be a death mask for the Venerable Dread-style Reliquary.

    Nice!

It's definitely nice to see some better pictures. Any chance we could see some similarly detailed shots of the other half of the sprue?

I'm liking the DC dread front with the skull. Very nice. Still not sure how that magna grapple assembly will look on top though. Another interesting tidbit from the new images: it now makes sense why there are two sets of "fist" bits. The second pair has three of the finger slots closer together to closer mimic actual hands instead of the typical dreadnought look with the fingers spaced equidistant from one another.

I don't play BA, so I'm more interested in cool conversion bits, but this looks like it will do the trick nicely.

i'm glad to see these pics mostly because it solidly confirms that the plastic furioso will be released alongside the stormraven.

Actually, I think those are 'blood' talons- they're closer together to mimic lightning claws. The actual talons seem to be the pieces marked '20' on the sprue in image 1.

Am I just blind, or why cannot I find the second set of fingers for the DCCWs on the sprues?

Yes. I can see that. And I assumed as much myself. It was tough to tell from the original blurry image though so it's nice to see them clearly now.

They are next to the smoke launchers. Looks like only enough claws for one "Blood Fist" though. The second half of the sprue in the original pic shows 6 long talons in the second half of the sprue. Looks like you've got enough bits for a pair of talons (3 big claws and 1 small claw thumb for each) or enough for 1 blood fist with the 4 short claws. Too bad they didn't have enough room on the sprue for another set of four short ones Guess its fine for the Libby Dread or a Furioso with Frag cannon, but if you want a 2 Blood Fist dread, it looks like you are outta luck.
But yeah, I've kinda been wondering the same thing since the original image was leaked.

I was told that Black Boxes should be arriving in stores by now, though they are not supposed to be shown till Skaven release is over. Therefor I assume preorders start tuesday
We both read the rumour, day and night,
but you read black where I read white.

Confirm on the first half, I've seen and touched the models.
Nobody in the stores seems to know when preorders are going to be taken.

There are six Talons in there and two sets of "hands", one with 3 slots for Talons and one with the regular 4 to make DCCWs. There are enough parts to make two full close combat arms with either 2 Talons or two Fists.

The side doors are Rhino sized I think, couldn't compare them side by side but they looked the right size.

And I'm not sure on the turret ring, sorry.

Do black boxes go to all GW distibutors or GW stores only?

Yes, I did find the first four. However, there seems to be two full sets of "palm" parts, one for the twin talons and one for the fists. Not having "fingers" for the second fist is odd, to say the least.

It is good to hear. Would you mind pointing out where the second set of "fingers" is on the sprue? Or is it supposed to work out in a different way?
