Good to hear immortal reaper. I first started 40k 6 years ago, n tried almost every army, yet something keeps bringing me bact to the tau, i cant describe it.

Keep your eye on my thread, hopefully i can re-kindle that love of the tau you had. And hopefully i can inspire the rest of you as you have me. xD

    Sadface.

But, on a more serious note, I think that if you go for a whole city, try and make it look like there is a progression of damage. Like, if you go further in to a city, more and more of the buildings are intact. I don't like how GW only models dead, destroyed towns and villages.

That, and make sure that you at least have some bullet holes in the nice, shiny tau city you're making.

I like Tau scenery, it really is the kind of city from the "futuristic utopia" genre. It also gives some nice contrast if you add in Kroot buildings and Vespid hives and such.

I do like the idea of progressive damage... however it doesn’t really tie into the fluff for my tau city... my city is based around one of the tau sept worlds in the second sphere that where invaded by the impirium, then taken back by the tau.

so yes, there will be hundreds of bullet holes and holes where missiles have hit. and dead body’s galore.

as for kroot buildings, don’t they build tree houses?
and I haven’t got a clue what they would even look like?

Ok so, I started building my wall section last night, its ALOT bigger than what I thought it would be!

So after a gruelling 2 hours of cutting polyfoam (and ordering a take-away) here we are.

There’s still ALOT of work to be done.
Hopefully tonight I’ll make some final cuts and additions, sand down the block in the middle into shape and glue the whole thing together.
Then if there’s time ill start coating curtain bits in plaster to sand down later.

Hope you guys like the pics so far.
    MORE TO COME.

Looking promising! Any ideas how/at what point you're going to add in the ubiquitous panel-lines?

    Edit:
That Firing Step is looking a little high, the wall doesn't appear to be offering an awful lot of protection, even to the kneeling Fire Warrior. Though that may just be the camera angle.

Ill give it a shot adding the pannel lines straight into the coveing. . . Though that will probably fail. In witch case ill use plasticard (cut into panels, leaving gaps for the lines)

As for the fireing step, ill sort that out with some more foam and plenty of plaster.

I have made loads of mistakes so far. When i make my wall for real (unlike this one which is mearly a test) it will have a more complex design.

Use stuff like plastic buckets or plant pots as structure frame for buildings. Then add details and stuff. Beats working with foam (because foam sucks).

I dont envy you though. Making Tau terrain sounds very difficult, because its not all nice and boxy but roundish. Still, nice to see youre such an enthusiast

Thanks for the comment lexus. Wherever possible the buildings will be items like buckets and stuff covered in plasticard and plaster then sanded down. Though i dont seem to be having a problem with the foam so far, the only problem iv had is getting impatient and not planing things out as carefully as i should have.

Looks like your of to a good start with the walls. The turret is called an Area Denial Node and costs around the same as a Hammerhead in points with a Twin Linked Rail Gun. If two combine fire and hit the shot becomes a single Destroyer shot.
