    Platty and his Xenos

Well, some of you may have seen my Imperial and general 40k stuff in my other log, as located in my sig.

As is the way with those of us in this hobby I have way too many projects on the go, some of which are just a squad in size. I continue to work on each project, though often some months apart and as a result have decided to open up a coouple of new logs - this one being my filthy Xenos! The main reason is so as not to clutter up my orginal 40k log with orks, nids, tau etc.

Aside from my 6000pts of guard, I have bits and bobs for renegades, Orks, Tau and Nids. All of these will be appearing in here from time to time. At the moment it's mainly orks, such as these:

At the moment I am working on this:

Hoping to have this done in the next few days.

Thanks for looking, any comments are always welcome.

Nothing beats a fully painted Ork army. An impressive green horde. Love your simple but effective scheme. Maybe I can convince my best mate to finally paint his orks, too.

Hammer: Thanks fella, I shall try not to disappoint.

Veritas: Cheers, it is simple and very easy. The GW washes are great for horde armies.

So, another daily update (one advantage of paternity leave!):

Weathering/scratches are done, the wash has gone on and it is pretty much complete. Just to do now is the fur around the pilots collar, they maybe some rust around the exhausts and the base and done. Hopefully, I might get this done today, but certainly tomorrow.

Love the way your Orks look and the urban camo work on legs and the Deff Copters armor is absolutely crackin'!

    Thanks alot SoR.

Got the 'kopta finished yesterday, got some photos done this morning in the sun light:

Had a small go with Pigments on the exhaust to make it look rusty, and also some washes on the cowling to make it look discoloured from heat. The result is quite pleasing in the flesh, but not sure if it comes out on the photos.

If I were to be critical of this, the one thing I would say is I should have made more of an effort with the base. But I've got two more to do so will consider that on them.

Let me know what you think.

Anyway, to prove progress is being made, next two deffkoptas are coming along nicely:

    Re: Platty and his Xenos

    Cheers fellas, much appreciated.

Have now done the two last deffkoptas. I shall just post up a picture of one since both models are identical. It's also very difficult to get a good photo of 'koptas as they cast a shadow over themselves. Very annoying. Also, little bit of effort with the base here, one has got some GS to give it some lumps and bumps, and one has a grot. Anyway, onto the pics:

And here is one that shows off the rusty exhausts, think I am slowly getting the hang of these pigments:

And the complete squadron, so you can see I have painted both of the remaining 'koptas. Middle one is the one I had already done.

Quite pleased with these, as I think they look good in a squadron. Might add another lot with shootas and a bomb at some point.

Quick couple of models done, two nobs to lead a couple of different boys mobz:

Not the best photos as the metal scratches are overexposed a bit, but happy with them in general.
