With the risk of derailing the thread even more; Could we persuade you to post a couple of single pics (or if you have the time; a full project log!) of the AdMech guys in the Imperial section?

And to keep it on-thread; What are your plans for the buildings on the display board? (At least I assume that the black spaces will have buildings on them.)

    Re: Rust Crons

Great army you've got so far, I love the persistent style of rusted horror robots from ancient times :P

I'm sad to see more and more cases of both bad customer service and extremely bad spin-cast stuff from forge world, it really is a huge letdown from the guys who used to bring us the best quality models and best sculpts and now more and more of their kits have been converted into spin-cast failures like the stuff GW produces...

Ohh yeah, and your admech models are amazing!

I admire your "Rustcrons" so much they are just perfect. I was wondering if you have tried this with the new paint range yet? Thinking of picking up the like for like colours in the new range and giving rustcrons a bash with a bit of a mossy twist.

I'm going to have to add my voice to the masses. Your Cryptek idea is most definately going to be stolen

Your Spyders are awesome and the colour scheme very, very effective.

    Re: Rust Crons

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

@Darnok - I dunno. I've took a long hard look at the new minis and I'm not 100% sure what to make of them. I'm going to get a box of Wraiths but not use them as Wraiths... they're probably see themselves in a C'tan I'm thinking of making. While the army is strictly no vehicle the Stalker gets a pass in terms of theme... but I don't really like the model. Don't get me wrong, I think it's an awesome model... but not a Horror 'Cron model. I don't like the rounded edges and the general composition of the legs. I may still pick one up just to play around with it...

@the damned artificer - Glad you like the 'Crons and Admech. I've been a fan of your models for some time! And all things considered, I'm still pretty happy with FW. So while they won't answer a damn email, I generally don't need to communicate with them often.

@ThePope - I've yet to use a single one of the new paints. I'm a bit scared to be honest... a few guys in my gaming group have noticed significant pigment differences between apparently equivalent colors. Thank god I stocked up on my most used colors a long while back (mostly by accident...). And I'd love to see mossy Rust 'Crons... green works very very well with the rust browns. I'll be on the look out!

@Fanny Crowbar - Thanks man. And steal away, I wouldn't have shared otherwise!

@Pazuzu & Razerz - Thanks guys... Heres another pic of the big guy before I started painting him.

I'm not totally happy with him. I wanted him to be more hunched... the pose just isn't natural enough. I started painting him, but he may get the saw if I look at him much longer!

And here are two guys I'm painting at the moment. They're in progress so be nice...!

Here's "Runner", the most 'human' of the team.

And a very basic "Mr. Crazy", a once brilliant scholar, now fanatically religious nut...

And for all of you guys who are still interested in the 'Crons here are some close up of the 'Characters' that I promised ages ago...

The completed, Veiltek. Nice and simple. Big thanks to all you guys who gave me tips on painting black cloth!

The Destructek. I took the idea of a lance a bit literally...

"The Blind Duke" or my minor Necron Lord. He may end up being the basis for a Lychguard squad...

And finally here's a pick of all the 'Characters' together:

As always, sorry for the shoddy pics...
Comments, critiques, and questions are always welcome.

    Re: Rust Crons

The characters are looking great (as do the AdMech)!
The Blind Duke oozes menace. The rest are nice as well but the Duke stands out for me. I might have to convert one for myself as an show-piece.

Those are really cool. I like how you put the green rods back in when the trend is currently to take them out.

    Re: Rust Crons

I've just read through the whole log and caught up with all your progress, and I must say that this is seriously the first necron army I've seen with a character that captures the gothic horror of the necron fluff I like. The new stuff of galactic game of thrones leaves me cold. Your lovecraftian horror is great.

I really like the scuttling theme you have going on and if I ever do necrons (much more likely after seeing this log) I am going to shamelessly steal ideas, colours and conversions from you! With due diligence and recognition of course

The admech team is simply beautiful too, the conversions have so much character its hard to know where to look in that group photo.

Keep up the great work, and I look forward to the next update.

    Re: Rust Crons

Well done mate, this necron army is stunning, i gave up on this hobby and with the new release's of necrons i was drawn a little closer to coming back, but your scheme has totally inspired me, so today i went out and got some warriors and the equvilant paints and some of the "textured-black fire earth" to try and make my crons that lil bit more "grubby" but upon seeing your tomb stalker i instantly fell in love with them and i hope you dont take offence in so many people "borrowing" your style.
Thank you for giving me back my "love" for this hobby, well done.

@sheep - I'm honored that you like my 'crons... I've spent hours just gawking at you Death Korps!

@peterjameslewis711 - Wow, I'm surprised I could be such an inspiration! I look forward to seeing your little plastic men!

@Everybody else - Thanks for all the nice comments!

So I've done a little painting in regards to the Admech team, but not much. I guess I'm a bit unmotivated lately. It's made tougher by the fact that each model is 'unique' and not part of an army, so color choices are overwhelming and stress inducing!

So instead of doing more painting I picked up a box of the new Necron Wraiths and started my new little project...

    Here's a sneak peak:

I don't think it'll be too difficult to guess what I'm making...

    Re: Rust Crons

This plog is brilliant. Never seen rusty Necrons look so nice. The characters are phenomenal too, it's hard to pick a favourite but the Blind Duke (great name btw) just does it for me, everything about him tells you what you need to know, stay away!

Any issues with me using a model and making a copy of the Duke, with proper credit of course . Really love the pose you used and the menacing feel of it.
