I am thinking about it. Back in holland I would use MDF but I am worried that the humidity in Malaysia would warp.

So the other solution would be to use thick plastic card. But I haven't found a good store selling it :'( so at the moment this will have to do.

Re: The Void, Calamities blog of everything from tables to soldiers

Thanks Kisanis, Although the last bits have been a bit standard out of the box projects. I plan to really get some conversion work done soon.

Today not so big an update. I did do a lot of stuff though.

for starters i think about 75% of ll my FOW platoons and command are done. But i didnt take a pic of it as the buggers are so small that the base coats dont really show until after the wash. However I did manage to do a tester for my StuG G color scheme. I quite like the result and i think these tanks will be rather easy to get done.

finally i also had some barricades build up from the WFB mansion which I did up. I will do another set of walls and hedges as it seems we never have enough of them at the club.

as always any comments are welcome

Ok I finished painting all the regular grunts! I have à game this Sunday so I aim to have all the above painted and based by then. I have no idea if the above is a good army so wish me luck.

the test paintjob for the tank looks fantastic! A whole lot of tanks painted that way would look really impressive.

Re: The Void, Calamities blog of everything from tables to soldiers

@Juicytomatoes: thanks it was rather fun to do. and really fast too.

I did go back over the yellow with a Green Glace (the new one from GW) as i thought the color was a bit too ochre. It worked nicely i think. I finished the yellow base on all vehicles.

Besides this I managed to base the entire army and finish the Command section and motorcycles. All and all i think I am right on schedule for next sundays game. Lets hope i have some time to read the rules on how to play as well sometime this weekend. But how had can i be right? You chuck some dice. Shout Achtung! and Sterbe Du Schwein! and make machine gun sounds....

I am kidding though I am looking forward to try a game of FOW.

After all the right out of the box projects i wanted to do something different for my table. I spoke about my Khorne fields. And besides the weak pun. I really took the Khorne bit very literal...

the green bit is the first attempt at some flames with liquid Greenstuff. It came out rather well so i slapped some primer on and picked up my trusty drybrush. It was just as well that i paid some homage to the lord of "slaughter and being very angry" just before my kickboxing practice. Made me feel really pumped up .

I am thinking of changing the other half of the field into a crop circle. But maybe it would be a bit too busy. What do you guys think?

    Great modelling work.

Your terrain looks great but your FLames of War army is very impressive also!

    Happy Gaming,

    Thanks Allen.

À little update to help you sleep at night. I did these necrons a few months back.

But I am not really happy with them. I like the purple and white but the model is missing contrast. And I am not sure how to fix this.

In any case after all my fantasy stuff is done these will be the next project. As well as a complete 40k table

Ok I just got some time to go back and read your plog properly instead of just looking at the pretty pictures.

I must say that you certainly kept your promise that the plog would be entertaining.

Not sure if the points r still up for grabs, but would that rabbit be the notorious beast of caebannog of the monty python fame?

And how are the khorne fields coming along? That was really khorne-y!

The level of humor is certainly on par with the projects you are doing here. just based on new terrain boards you just did, one could say it is merely... AWESOOOOME!

You are in malaysia now, you say? Whereabouts? If you dont trust the wood not to warp, you coukd try the high density foam core.

Dammit, u make me wanna collect and play fow!

Ding ding. We got a winner! It is indeed a monty python reference.

Glad you enjoyed the read . Currently I live in Penang. Are you in Asia too?

I wish I could get high density foam. I used to get it really cheap in Holland. Unfortunately it's used mainly to keep the heat inside buildings when it's cold outside. Which is rather pointless if the coldest temp outside is 30 degrees C*. Hence it's lack of uses as a building material in Malaysia

I think I will need to import some plastic card instead. (my poor bank account)

Some days you post post on this forum and some days you have a post-posting depression. This condition Is when you use a device to post a post, but rather than posting the post it fails to post! The effect it has on this poster I think is also known as going postal.

In any case it took me a full day to recollect my thoughts and bring you this update. Firstly I finished the khornefields (which my autocorrect just changed the word to automatically! I suppose my ranting can get even an iPad khornefused..)

Still haven't decided about the crop fields. But I will make one definitely. I will even add a little skink and his trusty "tool of majestic agricultural ley-line alignment" aka "a wooden plank with a string"

The next scenery piece is the always entertaining nehekharan sphinx. I know it's not much to look at now. But the basic concept is there. I wanted the sphinx lying down so I had to get my trusty saw and play the veterinary..... orky style!

Besides this I also finished basing my FOW platoons and get a game in! All this without upsetting the wife, having dinner with the in-laws and take in another dog! Oh yes I was almost privy to a free dogfight between Logan (my current dog) and Morpheus (my new dog). FUN!

    In any case As a small treat I wanted to share my Battle rep. So I hope you like it;

    FOW

I mentioned in a previous post that I was hoping to read some rules before my game. But that didn't happen unfortunately. Luckily my mate did know so we got our little men out and prepared to cross swords. Or rather bayonets....

On hind sight that comment rings a bit.... Oh well

Bear in mind here that we both didn't really know the rules so we have certainly messed stuff up. So if you take offence to our blatant disregard of both the rules and historical accuracy please look away.

The game was a 500 points all infantry affair. I brought two platoons and a command section of SS-freiwilligen brigade Nederland. My buddy brought a bunch of Scotts. I noticed he had quite a few more men than me. When he pointed out that Scotts are cheap I replied that I have some English friends who would say he was rather stain the obvious.

In any case we deployed our forces and after the rolloff for firs turn I moved my army forward into ideal positions making effective use of area terrain and my stormtrooper moves to get close but completely out of sight.

You can see the Heavy Machine Gun platoon on the hill. The left tenant of these brave highlanders spied their surroundings and seeing no enemy's in sight. He barked the order to dig in. unfortunately the soil proved too hard and the confused corporal MacKensies replied: we kenna go ana further! Before All hell broke loose.

Brave soldiers moving through the woods

Two of my platoons moved through the woods and took up firing positions on the edge. In a fusillade of lead the confused HMG's were caught in the open and utterly annihilated!

    Removing hmg,s

Here is my buddy removing all his HMG,s

Having established a foothold in the centre of the field the the sturmfurher brought two platoons to bear on the rifleman on the right side on the field. The rightmost platoon managed to pin the riflemen into place before the other platoon led by the sturmfuhrer piled in for the assault. Whilst the defensive fire took down two MG teams the following assault was brutal. With casualties high on oth sides. The Dutch brigade was no fased howevr and pushed on resolutely

    Turn 4

The engaged platoons on the right pushed further into the woods and drove home a second wave of assaults. The SMG teams pinning the dwindling riflemen in place. However shooting casualties were low as the Riflemen managed to dig themselves in. Only to ge butchered down to all but the sergeant. The sergeant tried to make a break for it.

Meanwhile the other platoon on the left dug themselves in the forest. Ready to meet the advancing riflemen of the second Scottish platoon.

However the expected assault of the riflemen never came as on the right side the fleeing sergeant and all that was left of the first riflemen were brutally gunned down by the Persuing SS.

Realising that his rank would not make up for the lack of scotish troops on the left flank; The left-tenant sounded the general retreat.

The day belonged to the SS.

In conclusion I was a fun game. Some of the rules are still fuzzy and if anybody can tell me if it is possible to assault one platoon with multiple platoons at the same time, that would be helpful.

But I will try another game soon!

ok I did some finishing touches on the khorne fields. The whole set including the Walls and fences are done.

I added some little Easter eggs and decided to do the crop circle. I couldn't find a skink in my bit box so the project codenamed "huckleberry skink" will have to wait. The blue shield below is the coat de arms of my family. I though it would be nice to incorporate that somewhere.

The other Easter egg is on the third pic. More points for grabs for the person who catches the reference.

Finally I am almost done building the sphinx. I had to remodel the legs to get to the laying position. Also the tail needed a lot of work. However I really like the result as the silhouette represents that of a striking scorpion.

Hope yo like it. Any comments please feel free to post some.

Khorne-found it! Are all dutch people so khorne-y?

But seriously, khorne-gratulations on a job well done on the khorne field. Now I wonder what project you will be khorne-centrating on next?

Love the sphinx terrain. It looks like a lot of cutting work was done! Is it going to lay eggs that will hatch baby sphinxes?
Ah the crow... Looks familiar... Would that be a terry pratchett reference? Is there going to be a grim reaper there then?

I'm in Singapore actually, so not too far from where you are. Have you gone to Ghurny Drive yet?

Ooh way off. It is reference to another famous thriller authors work. Which got made into an equally famous horror movie. It's a really obscure reference

And yes I have been to gurney a lot. Not much else to do in PG really

The cornfield is very nice and the sphinx looks very promising. A little pricey, though, no?

Thanks. I suppose that depends how you look at it. I am more of a painter than a gamer. I really liked the sphinx model from the moment it got released. But since I don't really collect TK and I don't play SOM often I didn't see a way of painting one soon. Besides if I really wanted to I can still use it. Since it's not too hard to imagine the base the right size.

My aim is to get a complete set of WFB. That is all the possible scenery from the charts (all in the same level of detail as the plastic buildings) and the IoB fully painted up with both armies going up to 2000 points. I know it's a bit of a silly project and not cheap. But in essence I am not doing it all in one month. So the expenses will be spread out over a year or two.

I guess it's like smoking you enjoy it now and at the end of our lives we smoked a Mercedes worth

    Love it all, mate.

Not such a fan of some of GW's terrain, like the boards, but you really make them interesting.

The burning crops/fields are a great idea. I'd love to try a dead and dying one with nurgle symbols. I'm inspired to do a naturally burning one with the same effect, just no chaos symbols.

I like the rust stains on the timber, too.

Thanks Zoggin, the realms of Battle board I chose mainly for its durability. I move house way too much and so far these boards have survided a 15.000 mile sea journey twice.

For those that got redirected here through my Poll. I promise i have some WIP pics of the Skaven but first some finished other items:

As you can see there is the beginning of a village in there. This is an old project which I always wanted to do. The village will be two of the modular hills wide. They are a little bit inspired by the houses used in the previous VC book. Finally I want to build a big Wall around it to represent a castle.

we are gearing up for a Blood in the Badlands Campaign at the club so I want to build all the scenery. including tunnels and more marshes.

here is a small WIP shot of a forest base i did a while ago. The brown is the new rhinox hide color. and i really like it. its darker than Scorched and covers like a charm. one tank brush full and three parts of water allows you to do the whole base in one go!

    Well-Well manthings.

its time-time to unveil my master-plan of supreme dominance! Low and behold the start of my Skaven army. I want to have a ready and build 2k army. It will be based on a clan squire list. But instead of just using clan squire models i will also build some Megapowerfull secret weapons of Verminous doom!

the first thing is this contraption which will double as a Plague Furnace. I think the lightning it generates represents the cloads and the shock prod can represent the wrecker ball. Finally the techno monks pulling it will all get earthing rods to represent the mark of nurgle.

i also finished a unit of 20 storm vermin which ill take some pics of tonight
