    It's update time!

Didn't get as far with the elfs as I wanted, but progress nonetheless. The red and gold are done. The end is in sight! I never enjoyed painting elves and this doesn't change it but I have set a goal and by darn it I am going to make it!

Only some minor details and I think some blue as a contrast would do

I also did some work on the CoD scenery. I managed to find some plasticine and after going through my bits I managed this:

I think I am goin to get a box of heavy weapon squad cadians, a box of zombies and a box of SKellies to decorate the rest.

What do you guys think. Should I build more buildings?

I wouldn't mind if you did, these buildings look like a lot of fun.

    Yo TJ!

I like the look of them High Elves. Its a break from the usual white and blue.

Like the progression on the board too! The controlled palette gels everything together nicely.

Quality stuff. Concerning the building bases, are those from GW modular movement trays, or you have found something less pricey?

    Hi Guys

Well that's for those that have not left . It has been a hectic year. Loads of travel and loads of work. And actually loads of painting too. However I have been mostly painting my new house so very little in the way of big updates. That said I did do some painting. The sad thing is I read back only a few posts ago about me pledging to get all the stuff on my list done first....

What really happened is that I just ended up adding things to the list.

So here is what I have to add to the list

    1.1500 points of additional necrons
    2. 4 arcane fulcrums
    3. 4 khornefields
    4. 2 hills
    5. One swamp
    6. One blasts scape
    7. Craters
    8. More skaven

So yes it's just getting worse

But I did finish some stuff so it's not all lost.

That's a great piece of terrain right there. Well done! And don't worry about adding tons of stuff to your collection. It can only mean more things to ogle at in your plog.

Re: The Void, Calamities blog of everything from tables to soldiers

@Herebedragon, thanks it was a first attempt at an eye this big.
@Juicytomatoes Its good to know i got someone supporting me where my wife for some very strange reason does not...

I prommised some more pics of other stuff so here we go. I managed to finish all the trees. They ended up being a lot of fun to paint and I even managed to add loads of small details.

I got a bit bored and added some GS to a giant rat i had lying about.
points for the person who sees what movie the rabbit is referring too.

here is a group shot of the table and scenery pieces. For the observant amongst you it might seem that this table looks different to the one in the first post. And you would be right. I couldn't take my old table with me when I moved so I had to part with it. I did however painted a new one up. ANd I went into a lot more detail. I wanted to get the wasteland feel more as I wish to use this table for a ruined almost daemonized 40k table too

I also finished the marshes. However i am not sure if i want to repaint the blue. It might be a bit too much contrast on the table. I am on a mind to do it in red instead. This would make it blend in more with the rest of the table. What do you guys think?

finally there is the Garden of morr. Man this Kit was fun to paint. And i think amongst all the Kits i have one of the most versatile one. Inside you got all the components to do

    1. Sinister statue
    2. Obstacles x 2
    3. Haunted mansion
    4. other buildings
    5. Garden of Morr ala WD article
    6. Charnel Pitt

and it just looks really good.

Re: The Void, Calamities blog of everything from tables to soldiers

And here is the WIP of the Khorne fields. My idea is to use these as the following

Hill: Screeslope (because everybody knows that once you run into a cornfield you don't come out alive
Khorne field: As an alternative tower of blood or altar of khaine
Crop circle: As an Elven waystone

all have loads of walls and fences so they can be used as obstacles as well.

ill fill them up with a Coconut floor matt. Which was very hard to find here in Malaysia. You wold think for a country whos main exports involve
    Rubber
Palm oil (so an abundance of coconuts)

would have coconut floor-mats in abundance....

Ok time for the daily update.
So got distracted a bit when the postman showed up with a package from a good buddy of mine. In it was my very first FOW army. So it being a public holiday there was no real reason to not unwrap and assemble something entirely different!

The stuff I got was 5 stuG G tanks.
2 panzer grenadier platoons with command
    2 heavy infantry support guns
And a shiny new 3rd edition book

We are kicking off a Eastern front campaign after Easter coincidentally. So I thought it would be cool to join in with some Dutch SS-freiwilligen.

Below you can see a bit rubbish picture of a test model. Note the orange-white-blue flag on the right shoulder.

The whole lot makes up for about 1360points which is just a bit shy of the 1500. But I plan to take some stuff out and put one konigstiger in the list.

Re: The Void, Calamities blog of everything from tables to soldiers

So after Yesterdays foray into something smaller and green. I continued today and managed to get half the basecoats on the rest of the FOW platoon. It is going quite fast as it only took me about 1 hour to do. But then i got a call from some local buddies to join them at the local game shop. Where i had a deathknell watch still assembled. So i took to paint that for a while whilts my mates were slugging it out over fresh table.

I recently also finished a Temple of Skulls and two fulcrums.

The fulcrums are still a little bit WIP as I dont like the dark stone of the Star on top that much. The Throne also needs to get a red cushin to finish it off.

Finished the death knell watch today. So I finally have a suitable watchtower for the watchtower scenario.

Not that it would do me as a skaven player any good as I never seem to be able to hold it with anything in my skaven army.

Last time I lost to a TK player after his only remaining king with a death mask chased a full unit of storm vermin out by shouting booh

In any case the kit comes with a rather nice wyrding well too. Al and all a fun little project

Great looking gaming table. Did you think maybe to glue buildings maybe on some bases so that they have more solid base?
