On Officer Rhames - he looks fantastic - black skin is one of the (many) things I have yet to attempt - I fear I'll either make it look utter K.Rap or (worse) racist. You seem to have pulled it off with aplomb.
The samurai - is he supposed to be Steven Segal in "Against the Dark"? Brilliant.
As an aside I was lucky enough to get my copies of The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z signed by Max Brooks a few years ago in Forbidden Planet - He is a disturbingly young looking chap.
Look forward to following this plog![]()
I think this wins BEST LOG EVER! I'll be checking this one daily, even if there isn't anything new. Cheers fella's

I have to agree, that piece is looking really nice, Gomez. Everyone knows that a samurai sword is a handy weapon to have during a zombie apocalypse. And you put my attempt at painting black to shame
Thank you for the kinds words about Officer Rhames! I have been working on him a little more to make the highlights pop. The skin was watered down Scorched Brown straight over black undercoat - I was careful to wipe most of the paint off the brush and run it along his muscles so the shadows remain. Then a highlight of 50:50 Snakebite Leather/ Scorched Brown. I was worried about it tooTry it!
I am jealous about those autographs, man! Gimme them!
This is a very nice thing to say, thank you so much - me and Gomez both appreciate it alot. I'm glad that people are enjoying themselves, this has been good fun so far!
Introducing Fran, the cantankerous old lady behind my own little team of opportunists and zombie killers. I am working on a short story for this log just now, which is why there isn't a lot of fluff for her as yet.
Pretty pleased with how she came out - I can see that she needs some touch ups but I'll hold off until she's fully based up. Then I can see where the painting sins are. Criticisms and comments very welcome, thanks everyone.

Great model! Really well done. Can't help but think she looks a bit like my great aunt...
Only a minor critique, but something just looks...off...with the colour combination of the headwrap and the hair. A bit to similar maybe. I know you said that this log was to "push the envelope" with your painting skills, perhaps do some freehand on the headwrap?

Great stuff, that's a really neat band of survivors you're building up there!
Nicely painted too.
I don't know if you've had a game yet, but I can tell you, they're a hell of a lot of fun!
Oh, and thanks for the link to Big Iron Vault, I'll have to check those rules out.
I kinda of agree with the others in that some colors don't look right, but thats kind of the point - if she was wearing normal shoes it'd be fine, but the high contrast between the blue and the red stands out. I love itDo some detailing on her scarf though you lazy sod!
I've been rather lazy recently. I'm currently chewing over dozens and dozens of ideas which dont really mesh into one another, which is throwing my painting out of whack slightly. I do however, plan to get my next adventurer painted this week and maybe a Zed too.

colhodg - Glad you like the jacket, I was trying to make it look like a puffy barbour number. Originally, her skirt had a tartan on it but it was too dark so I replaced it with the red. I agree with you guys in that it need a litte more - I'll add something and repost.
pointyteeth - Thank you! Glad you see a family resemblance, she reminds me of my gran. Tho grandma never fought off zombies with a shotgun. I will take your suggestion on board and so some freehand on the scarf - originally the scarf itself was going to yellow but I chickened out... Should I go for it?
Modhail - You're welcome on the link, the rules are relatively straightforward but I haven't played yet. I need to press gang one of my mates into it I think.
Gomez - It's nice to see that you got your act together enough to fix that signature of yoursAs mentioned, should I make the scarf yellow?
Guys, how about purple flowers with yellow centres as the freehand on the scarf?
Many thanks for your comments... I have 30 zeds on my desk that demand attention but my motivation isn't very high to do them as work has been hellish. Hopefully this weekend will see them posted here.

The Samurai is cool but Fran is awesome...I love the wellies!

EDIT: It would be cool if Fran had some spent cartridges on her base.

Great plog guys. I'd never even seen any of these minis before. They're really characterful painted up and you've put together some fantastic backstories.
Brilliant. Thank you!
I don't know if you're a webcomics fan, but she looks a bit like Alice from FreakAngels.
Brief update from me - Jihads been mad busy with work and I'm running ragged at work at the moment.
Hugh Hefner
Survivalist - I had this idea that there would be some people that would survive not through mental strength, skill, or luck, but would simply be born to survive. Like the outbreak would be there moment to shine. What kind of mind set this person is going to have is going to be fairly open to debate.
And finally, some actual painting.
Sorry the colors are off, having a few problems with my camera. She should be finished this week, along with Hugh if I get some time free.

Sheep, that hazmat suit comes from Hasslefree - you get a squad of four.
Gomez, I like where your mind is behind the fluff for this guy - cool tweaks to his kit aswell.
Thank you for the kind words and comments in general, both me and Gomez appreciate them alot.
In the mean time....
We interupt your viewing for an important news bulletin. Reports of civil unrest in the midwest are spreading to the northern states - mass hysteria and apparently random acts of murder and cannablism ahve been reported in the last hour. Currently authorities are at a loss to explain the seemingly spontaneous outbreaks in several different parts of the country. We'll bring you more as we get it.
I now have 20 zombies in varying states of painting - they still need grass added to their bases (and for the zombie hunters I want to personalise the basing a litte...). I'm pretty happy with the various ideas I've tried so far but there are still 40 to do... Arg![]()

I wanted to show that me and Gomez are taking comments here to heart, therefore posting up the improved old lady Fran. As discussed, I've freehanded her scarf and skirt and redone the hair with some white and black lining.
Shell cases to follow as basing is not finished
