This log is responsible for showing me that there is more to great models than GW. Cheers.

    Re: World War Z

CharlesDickens - This is a real pleasure to hear, thank you for saying that. So far I've used Hasslefree miniatures for the zombie hunters and Mantic miniatures for the zombies themselves.

Gomez has already said it but a big THANK YOU to all who have commented so far - I am glad you're enjoying the fluff and models! The comments we're getting are a constant source of excitement for both of us (yes, we need to get out more).

I have a wedding to attend this weekend so I don't think I can manage an update before then. However, whenI return I will post a review of some zombie miniatures from Tengu.

I have painted 30 of my 60 zeds so far - the prospect of doing more has me bashing my head on the desk! That's not strictly true actually - I'm finding painting the gribbly li'l suckers a great deal of fun >

I still actually have to build the board as well. I've drawn up dozens of plans, sketches, ideas, and I keep scrapping it and starting again. Within the next 12 months doesn't sound too unreasonable.
Why not make an event out of it?

STEAM_GIANT - Thats the plan, however we both now have 40k and BFG forces so it probably won't be an overnight thing. I'm also planning to drag Jihad into Malifaux at some point, as Mrs Addams is quite the vicious resurrectionist player and I could do with the backup.
We're both extremely busy as well with work and with money being tight here at the moment, its not something easily put together. Don't worry. It will happen sooner rather then later

    POINTYTEETH - Maybe...

Jayne Johnson (yes, he does have a mustache)

I was hoping to get some painting done on him tonight but I've been a bit busy and things got away from me He'll be accompanied by Lil Kim at some point but I'm having trouble sculpting a truly pimping hat.

Sorry for the long delay guys - its been a busy few months and the Zed mojo went a little.

    Re: World War Z

We didn't make it out. Streets crowded with panicking people, cars. Sky dark with smoke - who's going to put out fires with these things coming for them?

Holed up in house near motorway - traffic jams drawing them to the noise. I think CCD trying to quarantine the city - saw some trucks but stayed hidden.

Haven't seen Baxter and Kev since yesterday. Kovacs not talking and Fran won't SHUT UP about cats.

Keep thinking I should return to duty but something keeps telling me 'bad idea.'

15 more zeds painted for the swarm! I now have 42 of the little ****s painted and ready. I still need to post up that review of some Tengu zombies I've bought. I'll have that up soon, I hope. I also intend to paint up a riot cop I got from Hasslefree in some Gordon Freeman style overalls. Its more orange/ yellow than anything else but I think I'm going to go for it.

As Gomez says, I've just moved down to London town and yes, I have taken some inspiration from the recent riots in my fluff. I fully intend to churn some more stuff out sharpish as I have a bunch of character models that I got from a certain Addams for my birthday.

Thanks for watching - next update might be two weeks for me as I have a stag do to attend this weekend!

Yay! Nice to see more stuff up!

Gomez - Jayne Johnson...I...umm, what? You might need to stuff the crotch with green stuff. Going to need to see him (her? it??) painted.

At Jihad - More story! Huzzah! Zombies look good, are they Mantic models? And what are these Tengu zombies you mentioned? Might have to Google those. Have fun at the stag, I just went to one last month for my friend that involved 2 full days of Warhammer Quest and Beer at an oceanfront cottage. Good times.

As always, keep up the good work you two. This is still one of my favorite blogs to visit.

I love this plog. The mini range is great, and the painting is very clean. I really enjoy the little stories to go with the updates. They give it that little extra something-something.
Good to see another person taking inspiration from Half-Life, Jihad. Can't wait to see your paintjob on the riot cop.

POINTYTEETH - Yeah the more I look at him the more I realise your right, so I guess he'll be off for a soak in the simple green.

    AtmanAbecedarian - Thanks very much

Jihad - Is the gordon freeman riot cop the thing you mentioned awhile back (based on diary of the dead I think?).

I haven't been entirely lazy and distracted by other projects (honest!) - I've managed to put together this minor conversion for my 'grungy gang', who'll be kind of like the the scooby doo gang but with more Marilyn Manson.

Gah if only I had thought of that earlier - HF do a frankenfurter model as well

You said earlier that you came out of Spearsville - by all accounts that was one of the worse outbreaks due to the countys overcrowded open plan prison

Yup, that was some hell hole alright. It started pretty slow like it did everywhere, a couple of virus outbreaks, the usual guys in suits. Then the prison went wild. Me and the gang were already investigating the prison so we got front row seats to the end of the world.

So how did you get out?

Pretty simple really. With the guards dealing with the outbreak we had the run of the prison armoury - jeepers man you aint seen nothing like it. I mean it had more guns then the Normandy landings. Makes me wonder why they needed it all... anywho we got kitted out, knicked a SWAT Van, and moved on. The dog didn't make it though, he got bitten by a muncher... had to put him out of his misery on the road. After that... life seemed a bit meaningless

Bits to tidy up but not too bad for an hours work. The rest of the gang will follow as soon - Shaggy isn't going to change, daphne is going to have weight issues, whilst Velma... well I'm going to have a go at sculpting her from scratch. Because you know, thats a good idea.

    Enjoy

POINTYTEETH - Thanks bud, should have the next Grungey Gang member up this week.

PETAY - Thanks bud, its appreciated

Expect an update from Jihad very shortly guys - he's finally put down the booze long enough to actually paint something! However I've had this idea rattling around my head for a few days and just had to put it onto paper so to speak..
Sorry its so rough, she'll get cleaned up!

I think I've been looking at far too much Suicide Girls photos recently Not entirely sure where I'm going with it though. There seems to be stacks missing from it but at the same time I don't really know what.. hmm.

Hmm. She kind of reminds me of the title character from 1999's "The Rage: Carrie 2." IIRC, she had some sort of vine tattoo-looking manifestation that writhed & crawled around when she used her TK powers.

I'm not sure what triggered that; it just popped into my head.

I love everything you have done in this log but I think its the zombies that really stand out to me, they are the first zombies I've seen done that I really like.

Kev and Baker came back with food. They were followed. Pack of moaners came up on the house. Trapped - gunfire brought more. Not enough ammo.

Saw a man on edge of the pack - yellow hazard suit. Big guy - he drew the zeds away.

We made a run for it - Kovacs tried to carry Fran and I followed the boys. We ran hard for the road.

Don't know if hazard suit man meant to help us or just get stuck in. Lost sight of him over the mob. So many of them... We're taking five before hitting the highway.

I can't hear anything up ahead.

Hello, people Gomez, I love that anarchy Shaggy, your's will indeed be a hardcore Scooby crew. The latest piece made me go 'mmmm...oh yeah...' I think some light highlights to her hair and skin will make her gorgeous - loving the greenstuffed heels.

This is my Grigori Friedmans character. I was inspired by the clean up crews from Diary of the Dead. The yellow on their suits was too bright for me - I went for more of a Half Life orange. Pretty pleased with the colour combination, nice and bright! I thought about giving him a crowbar but I don't like the idea of hacking up these gorgeous sculpts. Thoughts? If you're going to start shouting about freehand on that shield some suggestions would be nice

Killernoob - Thank you! The zombies are from the Mantic Undead regiment set - they are great fun to paint cos I get to slap on whatever gore and grunge I like. They only need a little clean up of mouldlines. I have some metal pieces from Tengu's Boss Zombie range coming soonish.

Snuffy - thanks to you I had to read the entire collection of FreakAngels. Thank you for guiding me there

Next up I have two new additions to my survivors... And these two don't know how to play nice anymore...

I love when you guys update.

Gomez, when i first saw this sculpt it reminded me of Alice from the resident evil films. Cant tempt you to change the dress to a deep red? Looks fab either way.

Jihad, great painting. I really like the blue shades you use on goggles and visors.
Freehand? How about a biohazard sign? If you did it rusty it could balance with the 'clean-ness' or white would compliment the light tones i think.

Anyway great work you guys! How can i convince you to move down south?

    Yes! An update!
@ Gomez - Suicide Girls was the first thing that popped into my head. Really like how the tattoo turned out. Can't wait to see it finished. Are you doing the dress white? If so, will you be trying out some transparency effects?

@ Jihad - haven't seen Diary of the Dead, but I might have to now. He turned out really well, the jumpsuit colour is great in my opinion. If you want freehand ideas for the shield, how about this?
