Thses gobbos look really good. Great contrast between colors and good solid painting.
The spearmen look awesome all ranked up.

First of all thank you guys for all your comments. It is really motivating to see such massive feedback. I stayed quiet because I didn't want to post without some new pictures.
Recently I have been working on 2 groups of old metal fanatics. Today I present you 3 oldest I have, dated late 80's. I did my best to give them justice. I hope you like them.

    Now those are some oldies!
You can never have too many old school models in you army if you ask me.
Really think you managed to give them justice, old colors with modern painting technique.
    Keep up the good work!
As for me, I still have all the skull pass gobbos to prime and start painting on. Seeing yours all ranked up gives me good motivation to get started once I can find the time.
One question though, did you drybrush the robes and cleaned up with black or spent time to highlight them them by hand?
Haven't figured out how to get that little above tabletop quality without investing all too much time in my gobbos.

Malte, Dark Side is tempting you, it seems to be faster, but ther is no easy way an the path of miniature's painter
I spray chaos black, drybrush grey, wash badab black, glaze chaos black with gray to bring back the highlights, glaze again with watered down gray to strengthen the highlights, do some corrections with badab black wash where needed. That's preaty much it

    >>>Great look to the whole army, as mentioned by everyone else, their eyes and heads really do pop out!

Quick question, and an easy one to answer I think: Are you just putting a red wash over a the black base (the sides) to give it that dark-reddishy look? Or is it just a really dark red painted straight onto the sides?

Re: Arkanus O&G plog - Mean & green

Really great job on those goblins. Got hold of a load of bfsp spear gobbos recently and this may just be the inspiration I needed to get them painted.

I'll also second the request for a skin recipe. Looks really vibrant.

Re: Arkanus O&G plog - Mean & green

TheRupert, skin recipe: GW Chaos Black spray primer, Orkhide Shade foundation, Thraka Green wash - now it gets really dark. Time to build up highlights: Goblin Green, than Scorpion Green, than Scorpion Green + Sunburst Yellow. At this moment my goblins start to glow like radioactive Fallout ghouls or office yellow highlighter. Now just 2 last steps: final highlight with Sunburst Yellow on nose and knuckles and Thraka Green wash to smooth the layering and taint the yellowness with some green tone I water down Thraka Green wash as it is very dark and if used straight from the pot it turns my glowing yellow goblins back to green. Well, it's better to do 2 thin washes than 1 too thick.
Generally I water down my paints with tap water in ratio almost 1/1 and paint few thin glazes to get smoother transition from one color to another.
Yes, it's time consuming. It took me a month to paint 6 fanatics (next pictures coming soon) painting few hours each weekend, but I was very picky about them, as old metal miniatures are under special treatment program BFSP plastics are just a test models for me to get back to form.

Star.Scream, base sides recipe: its old GW paint called Terracota, kind of middle-dark brown tone washed afterwards with Badab Black wash.
Generally these pictures are yellowish due to artificial light. Tomorrow I have a day off so I will try to take better pictures in daylight.

Now I am moving few years forward to about middle 90's bringing 3 old night goblin fanatics sculpted by my all time favorite Kev Adams. With this little fellas I felt in love to goblins long time ago. Painting these guys was just pure pleasure. I hope you like them as much as I do. Enjoy!

Thanks guys for your comments. Today nothing new as I am busy with moving out and in to new apartment. Still I managed to take few pictures to sum up what I have painted so far. Enjoy the group photos.

First regiment of 20 with full command

Second regiment of 20 with full command

And this is the whole horde painted so far including one of the command groups, big boss with little squig and shaman, releasing fanatics on second picture.

They look really nice! Now my unpainted night goblins are giving me a really mean look...

On a side note: How do you paint the earth for your bases?

Thanks for all your comments. I was keeping low profile because I didn't want to post without some nice pictures to show you. For last two months I've been busy working on 25 BFSP goblins.
Now I proudly present you 20 of them, rising red bows and screaming at enemies, just before they run away, I mean take previously carefully planed strategical positions away of enemy reach. Here deployed in 10 men wide rank:

And here in bulk regiment 5x4 to give you closeup:

    So, what do you think?
