    Re: Warhammer Expansion this Summer

I'm going to guess any Warhammer expansions would be geared to act upon 8th addition. With Hordes and all that giant frikkin monsters jazz I think Warhammer "Not Called Apocalypse" is likely. Things you won't see: Anything encouraging purchasing fewer models ie skirmish. Things you will see: Anything encouraging large plastic boxes and high point cost games.

This my friends, is Warmaster in 28mm just like Apoccalypse was inspired from 28mm Epic. Expect anything and everything.

We're all going to need a bigger board and a better job.

On the bright side one could argue that GW is pushing our kids to outdo themselves and choose profitable career paths in order to afford the pleasures of our once affordable hobby!

Little Timmy: "Mommy, mommy!!! When I grow up I want to be a doctor/astronaut/banker just so I can one day afford a big BIG Warhammer army!"
    Timmy's mother: Thanks GW!

I hope they won´t move to resin for blisters. It's brittle, and a pain to work with.

It all depends on the typed and quality of the resin used really.

Does anyone know when we'll find out what it is.? I don't expect an actual date, more of a rough estimate.

If Forgeworld's is any indication, I'd prefer a full move to plastic than resin. I own a FW Bloodthirster and some other smaller kits, and they look fantastic, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to use that for characters to use on a common basis.

The article was about how FW had been using their products for years but now they were working closer than ever with GW to implement new techniques and production methods. I read it and just thought FW.

But something one of my contacts said suddenly made me think of the article. So resin blisters seams exactly what we'll be getting. I could be wrong. That I'll admit but I like the sound of it.
Or it may be referring to things like the resin Barricades, Mines/bombs, and basing kits GW has put out. Using resin would be a good way to get out things like objective markers and small scenery items for various races for cheaper than metal and more easily than plastic.

Sweet, and the big advantage of resin is that its cheaper than metal so switching from metal to resin will make prices go down!

    .... Oh wait.

Lol. FW is pricey because it's supposed to be a premium service. Resin shouldn't be too expensive though moulds don't seem to last as long as the moulds used for pewter.

I hear that the new Tomb Kings Skeletons are going to be changed to resin and repackaged in boxes of 5 for £18. Oh, and shields will be a separate mail order only item, for an extra £5.

I actually wasn't comparing it to Forgeworld. I was remarking on GW comments a year or two ago about switching from metal to plastic because plastic is cheaper, and now pretty much all plastic kits cost what the metal ones used to anyway. A switch to resin will most likely be cheaper for GW, but at least the same cost for us.

Well, thanks for pointing out the slight exaggeration in my post. Good thing that you did, or someone might have taken it seriously.

The problem is, people WILL take it seriously, then suddenly GW is making a full move to resin and leaving plastic, and doom and gloom, and the sky is falling.

what? the sky is falling? AHH!!! GW IS MOVING TO ALL RESIN!!!! NO!!

    <Hate> <Moan> <Complain>

    ok, I'm done

On Topic however, I was told by a source that the forthcoming Warhammer Expansion won't be released till Next year, summer 2012 and would be something along the Lines of Warhammer Fortifications and will include a brand new plastic Castle set

I'm still waiting to see it pan out though, this particular source is as of yet untested

For Orks the Lookout sir rule may not seem likely. The thought of an Ork selflessly jumping in front of his commander to protect him from incoming fire doesn’t seem to fit their nature. However the reality of the situation cannot be further from the truth, especially when the commanding Ork grabs the boy next to him and uses him as a shield.

Hmmm next year is rumored to be the release of 40k 6th edition. Which might conflict with a warhammer expension. GW didn't really release any books around the time of 8th being released.
My goal for the year is to get another 100 models painted.
    So far I haven't touched a brush.

The big disadvantage is that it feels cheaper than metal.
