great work in here Mrtn....i had no idea you actually also had a 40k force...but looking good...even though i proclaimed nurgle my arch enemy after some of my sisters got all dirtied up by some bad GW spray....so perhaps...if we ever meet...we can have us an epic stand off of the ages...

Re: mrtn's dirty rotters (Plague Marines)

    A belated thank you.

With the rumours of cultists in the upcoming starter set and CSM codex I thought I'd preempt that by making some of my own, especially since they (apparently) can be turned into plague zombies by Typhus.

I've cast these myself with an old Prince August mould, and I've had a blast doing so since I've learned how to fix the moulds to get better casting by drilling small vents and holes. I've cast some 30 odd of these.

Here is a comparison with a plague marine:

Fun minis. I think that the skin colour(s) you chose are really creepy. You may want to think of adding some additional highlighting/shading to the dark green clothes?

Thank you. The green fit in with the rest of the greens of the army and will stay as is. The pic isn't perfect though.

Nice casts and paintjob. I think I have those molds too somewhere. Did you use pewter or something else? And what is this magic of drilling extra holes?

Thank you! I've used both standard casting metal (40% tin, 60% lead) and off-cuts (like sprues and such) from lead free minis. You can read about the magic of drilling extra holes if you go to http://www.princeaugust.ie/ and click Support and then Fault Finding Chart.

Those Cultists/Plague Zombies are really nice. They're properly nurglesque but also colorful and eye catching.

Re: mrtn's dirty rotters (Plague Marines)

Thank you, I think and hope that they will fit well enough with the starter set models with a similar paint scheme.

I have gone back and painted in the eyes on all the helmets:

Looking good, esp like the look of bolter guy in the front row in the third picture.

Helmets looks good, whole warband looks consistent, and the whole colour theme appeared to be strong, simple and efficient - just like Death Guard themselves.
Cheers mrtn GW finally released plastic plaguebearers, do you have one yet?
Also glad marines from starter are based on classic metals, I belive they'll fit well with old models, so keep it up well done!

Thanks Peter! I haven't bought any plaguebearers yet, I'm waiting for the codex, plus my painting queue is quite long as it is. Just posted up some Prince August dwarves in my fantasy thread BTW.

Nice! Multiple-eye painting sessions are always memorable. Batch/speed painting, but also small details that require fine touch. It can take it's toll on the patience

The new Plaguebearers are very very very nice. =) I am eyeing them along with the new Nurglings when the new CSM codex gets out.

I myself am waiting for the new CSM codex to get released and hope GW also releases plastic Plague Marines... I brought a few sets of Death Guard Rhino conversion kits in anticipation of this!

Now its all about the loooooong wait!

Great effect and choice of colours there, I think they work very well!

Has it been five months already? A belated thank you guys...

I've slowly worked my way through another batch of plague zombies, while mainly working on my Thirty Years War army.

Irritating that Photobucket have started to rename your photos. Idiots.

I've started converting the bikers from DV, they should be finished any year now.

    Hey, welcome back, mrtn!

Cultists are looking good. I like all the variation of colours you're using on those.

Also looking forward to see your next TYW update!
