    Smile Bugman's Upland Throng**update 3/5/11**!!

    Bugman's upland Throng
    (Gets it's own Warseer blog)

This is the first Edition change that inspired me to start an entirely new army.

I wanted to do a stunti force since 5th ed but the way the army played discouraged me. Given the changes that in the new edition I'm thrilled to actually put a dwarf force on the table.

My working idea is a transport vanguard to keep the flow of Bugman's XXX brew moving safely around the old word. They would be tasked with fighting off the highway men and drunkards that attempt to abscond with the much sought after libation.......and keep the gold coming back the dwarven keeps, were it belongs.

I want a mobile fighty force that with only a medium amount of artillery protection.

Dwarf lord kitted out to kill monsters

A Runesmith to wreck the enemy's magic phase (may or may not have an Anvil/Keg of doom)

    BSB thane (points permitting)

2- 20 man quarrelers with great weapons (shoot, shoot, Chop, Chop)

1-20 man long beard rangers with great weapons (for the scouting ability)

2 -15 dwarf strong miner unit with steam drill to threaten flanks and rears

1-30 strong warrior unit with great weapons

    2-grudge thrower with runes

    1-cannon with runes

So a fighty force with plenty of surprises

I've been tracking the progress of this army in the TOFP thread, if you've been following that you've most likely seen these pictures before. If not, enjoy and as always C&C are appreciated!

Warriors with GW and a gruge-pony unit filler.

    Runed up cannon.

    Finally a group shot

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your great looking Dwarfs!

The unit fillers are especially cool... Diving Angus actually made me laugh! Nice Cannon and Engineer, together with your uniths they should be a solid core on which you can base the rest of your force...
Check out my Mordheim scenery! NOW! I mean... Please... Only if you want to of course...

Cheers! Thanks for the interest. Just as a quick update, I snapped some WIPs on my (make shift) work station.

If you look close you might see the piper of the moores.

I REALLY like that banner. Are you going to add more to it? Because that mountain looks ace! Mind if I nick the idea? I might not use it, but if I can add it into the background of my force, it would look ace!

The background story you wrote is even better! I love it!!

    Best wishes, and keep up!

Great looking Dwarves! I really like the way you've raised some of the Quarellers to make some taller than others and break up the head heights - and the tree-diving guy is just pure genius! Can't wait to see more

    Looking good

Good use of the bases, and the dwarf dropping from a tree is great.

Re: Bugman's Upland Throng--A Dwarf blog

Hello Warseer! Its been a very productive Feb. This is in part because have a deadline now. I firmed up my entry to the Quake City Rumble in San Francisco. Everyone says great things about this event, and I've wanted to hit this tourny for years now, and never gotten around to it.

So, Late JUNE I have about 1200 points to paint and build. The good news is that I've held off on painting my characters until now, so there will be a lot of points wrapped up in them.

    This month I've finished:
8 quarller rangers, 6 regular quarllers, 6 miners (2 and a unit filler) 1 grudge thrower

HIGHS AND LOWS: These are the worst pics yet, really, really, really, bad. Almost not worth posting. Other than that, I'm happy with the models. I'm happy with the quanity I've gotten done. I think my fav is the bag-piper musician for my rangers.

Group shot of everything I've finished this month.

Ranger command. I'm really happy with how the bag piper came out!

    Some miners with filler!

and a grudge thrower sans two crew!

And as a special treat for Bugman thread followers, Franny the blog dog!

    Now the good stuff

    and rangers wither bag-piper musician!

and I sware an oath to my dwarfen ancestors, I will never use a phone cam for mini pictures again!

there some really nice conversions and the miner unit filler is superb! Just gives that effect of the dwarves emerging and being read to strike, gives the unit so much character.

The painting is nice and crisp as well! Do you use a wash on the gloves and stuff by chance?

The miner unit filler is awesome. Great job on the painting too.

Talking Re: Bugman's Upland Throng--A Dwarf blog

Cheers guys, thanks for all the great comments. Last time I checked, breeze was the only one to post about my new pic.

@ Cragum- nope, no wash. The gloves are scorched, then dark flesh highlights, then vermin brown highlights. I find it gives a nice warm dark leather.

Enough with the commentary. I've had another productive month.
I've beefed up the quarrellers, adding 11 to their ranks, including some old dwarf drunk models.

Also I finished off my runed up sniper cannon. Its funny, I painted 4 artillary crew this month, but only two for this specific cannon. The other two are for the grudge thrower from last month.

Finally, the full army shot!!! It's starting to look impressive!

Comments and criticism are always appreciated. Next up are my characters. After painting 40+ quarrellers I've earned it!
