Ragnarök is coming! It will be bloody...

    Hey hey!

Over the past few years, I've started many armies...mostly imperial guard, and I noticed that I get bored quickly when I have to paint lots of minis in uniforms. So, I decided that I need an army that uses less miniatures. Of course it should be Chaos, as I don't want to play xenos or loyalists...
After a lot of thinkin', I chose the Space Wolves...always loved them, lots of conversion possibilities in those. But that's not Chaos! Well, it can be...an all-termi SW LoganWing, that worships the One True God, Khorne!

Already done two test minis, Fenrisian Wolves for one of my LWs.

I will try to continue this style with the whole army, dark paint scheme with lots of blood and gore, and the bases will be representing an abandoned, desecrated Imperial shrine world.

I'm done with the base for my counts-as-Logan too:

My termis will be made of both the CSM and SW termi kits (will get one of those next week, hopefully), and I plan to get the FW Lord Zhufor for my converted Logan, Tyberos for a Lone Wolf and the WE termi upgrade kit too.

The Space Wolf codex seems to be a popular choice for Khorne players at the moment.

Good work on the Chaos hounds. The blood looks really good, not too over the top. I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

I'll most likely have updates on the end of the next week.
And yeah, SW tends to be popular with Khorne players...might be because they are pretty similar

I have an army list now(at least it will be something like that)

Bjorngrim Bloodwrath (Logan Grimnar, The Great Wolf) @ 275 Pts
Brandr the Faceless (Lone Wolf) @ 105 Pts (Termi Armour, Chain Fist, Storm Shield, 2 Fenrisian Wolf)
Braggar the Unchained (Lone Wolf) @ 85 Pts (Termi Armour, Dual Wolfclaw, 2 Fenrisian Wolf)
Ingvar the Savage (Lone Wolf) @ 80 Pts (Termi Armour, Storm Bolter, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wulfen, 2 Fenrisian Wolf)
Gunnar Skullhelm, Gorepriest (Rune Priest) @ 200 Pts (Termi Armour, Combi-Plasma, Chooser of the Slain, Wolftooth Necklace, Wolf Tail Talisman)
Pack Ulfgar (Wolf Guard Pack - 4 WG Termies) @ 313 Pts (4 Combi-Melta, 1 Chainfist, 1 Frost Axe, 1 Wolf Claw, 1 Power Weapon, Drop Pod, Logan will go with them)
Pack Agnar (Wolf Guard Pack - 5 WG Termies) @ 396 Pts (2 Combi-Melta, 2 Combi-Plasma, 1 Storm Bolter, 2 Chainfist, 2 Wolf Claw, 1 Frost Axe, Cyclone Missile Launcher, Drop Pod)
Pack Björn (Wolf Guard Pack - 4 WG Termies + Arjac) @ 521 Pts (2 Combi-Flamer, 1 Heavy Flamer, 2 Chainfist, 1 Frost Axe, 1 dual Wolfclaw, Arjac, Drop Pod)

    Any suggestions?

The Mark of the Wulfen on the Lone Wolf is very characterful, but with a Power Weapon, it's rather wasted. He can't use the power weapon in close combat - look up the rules for the Mark.

Apart from that, a Loganwing with a twist. But with four models on the board at the beginning of the game, I believe it will very much be an uphill struggle.

    Hmmz...guess I forgot about the 'what-happens-if-I-don't-get-to-go-first' thing.
What do you suggest? Should I drop the WG pack with the Cyclone and add a 10-man barebone with SB/PW + 2 CMLs without a drop pod? Or...?

Love those evil wolves! The gore on them is great. And the marine itself looks very rotten and worn!

The wolves look great so faar, the gore will be hard to pull off on a red model though. What colour are you going to use for the armys main colour?

Main colour will be most likely dark red, with brass and dheneb stone parts. I might paint a test mini to see if it looks good (or, is the gore even visible on it...)

Re: Ragnarök is coming! It will be bloody...

Then again, it IS quite possible to drop the Pods empty and footslog across the table with the whole army. That way, you get a few free terrain pieces to hide behind, and the opponent has a few more targets. But still an uphill struggle...

I like the idea for the bases, and I think it will be a challenging and (hopefully) fun army to play.

But there is a risk that a lot of games will look the same. Go first: drop two units, hopw that enough survive, pound into dirt (if they didn't move away too quickly). Go second: deploy all units or four individuals with assorted pets, take cover while the opponents complete army takes a shot at you, slog across the board as Pods drop in front of you, pound enemy into dirt (if they haven't moved away or shot you into pieces).

Re: Ragnarök is coming! It will be bloody...

Been talking about the 'wolves with a friend, and we came up with a different list. Less drop pods, more models on the table at the start of the game...a completely different approach. What do you think of this one?

Bjorngrim Bloodwrath (Logan Grimnar, The Great Wolf) @ 275 Pts
Brandr the Faceless (Lone Wolf) @ 105 Pts (Termi Armour, Chain Fist, Storm Shield, 2 Fenrisian Wolf)
Braggar the Unchained (Lone Wolf) @ 85 Pts (Termi Armour, Dual Wolfclaw, 2 Fenrisian Wolf)
Ingvar the Slaughterer (Dreadnought) @ 140 Pts (Multi-melta, Dreadnought CCW, Drop Pod)
Gunnar Skullhelm, Gorepriest (Njal Stormcaller, Lord of Tempests) @ 270 Pts
    Pack Agnar (Wolf Guard Pack - 10 WG Termies) @ 435 Pts (6 Combi-Melta, 4 Combi-Plasma, 10 Power Weapon, 2 Cyclone Missile Launcher)
Pack Björn (Wolf Guard Pack - 6 WG Termies + Arjac) @ 688 Pts (2 Combi-Flamer, 1 Heavy Flamer, 2 Chainfist, 1 Frost Axe, 2 dual Wolfclaw, Arjac, Land Raider Crusader 'Sleipnir', Logan and Njal go with them)

I'd split the large unit into two, as you could need more Scoring units. You'd also be helped by having an extra target and better flexibility. But apart from that, go nuts!

Amazing hounds. The blood is great. I'm definately getting the plastic hounds for my Vampire army now.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do that. Then, the army list is done.

Thanks! IMO they look way cooler than the VC Dire Wolves, you just need to GS a bit of fur on them, because there's a hole where their horns go.

Oh, and yesterday was my lucky day: I found an old-old Björn dread with multimelta in one of my boxes. I've totally forgotten about that thing...and ages ago, I even started converting it to Chaos. So, only a couple of bits now, and there's a perfect dread for the army.
Also painted an objective, might have pics up later today.

    Meh, double post.
    Some pics this time:

    Objective

Ingvar, showing the small conversions and the painted base. That's done, apart from the blood.

Also, I finally managed to get some pictures of the two minis that I've painted for my friend's birthday.

    Nihilius, counts-as Vindicare Assassin

More pics can be seen in this and this album.

I'm thinking about using a modified version of the inquisitor's paint scheme for the 'wolves (with more brass and darker red - and less inquisition symbols). The gore might look better on the grey armour.
    What do you think?

    Hey hey!

Re: Ragnarök is coming! It will be bloody...

My termies arrived yesterday, so finally I've been able to do some work on 'em.
I'm pretty much done with 3 combi-melta/powerweapon guys, one of the CMLs, one with heavy flamer/chainfist, one with combi-flamer/chainfist and two dual wolfclaw guys. Some of them still need shoulder pads from forgeworld and some decoration bits & battle damage.
    Pics!

    CC termies

    The shooty ones

And the second objective, pretty much WIP

    Slightly more photos here.
Sorry for the bad pics, I seriously suck at photographing, and my girlfriend wasn't around to take the pics for me.

Soo, as you wished, here's the first painted terminator!
They all will be kinda similar, mostly grey&bronze, with some red parts on all of them.

    Second objective is done too!

Right now I'm in the middle of painting the dread, you can expect painted pics in a few days.

Oh! Me like. So much nice stuff and I'm in a hurry to get home form work, erhm let me see...

I really like the look of the terminator. It really suits the theme. The vindicare assassain is great, really cool model that sort of reminds me of something from GI Joe, but it fits right in with the 40k universe.

I think your inquisitor is much better than the models supplied by GW, and the powersword looks stunning to me.
