    The Battle of Icarus Plateau

Having taken a break from my Sawtooths project I've been re-living my youth and reinventing my first ever army... Ultramarines. Now, now, hold on. I hear you groan at the Astartes poster boys but for me this is a trip down memory lane taking me back over 10 years...

So the aim of this project is to reimagine the Ultramarines army I made all those years ago. While none of the old army survives to date, I am going from memory in building this force. I want it to be as close to the original as possible and will be based around a core of a Captain and his Command squad, 2 Tactical squads and an Assault squad. Eventually I will include a Terminator squad, a Dreadnaught, Devastator squad and a Predator tank.

I like to theme my armies within a setting, this will give me a look that I'm going for when modelling and painting. The setting for this army will be in the heart of a battle on a fortress world overrun with Orks; the Battle of Icarus Plateau. This will also be represented in some fluff I have written to accompany the log to flesh out the army and its characters. More on this later...

So to start with here is the Captain and his Command Squad

    Captain Titus Agrippa

I'll be posting close ups of the rest of the squad later for those interested. But for now, thank you for your time, c&c most welcome

Nice start so far. your captain seems a bit static though. Rotate the torso, angle the storm bolter out to the model's left some more, and you'll have a beast of a pose right there!

I actually like th pose of the captain. I think it makes him look like he is striding slowly and purpousefully into battle.

Thanks guys for your comments so far. I have the Command squad and first Tactical squad modelled (pics shortly) as well as a second Tac squad well on the way.

I'll be honest the angle doesn't do him justice, however the pose isn't set in stone, I'm thinking a raised sword hand would work better for him, and a change of legs. Have him more like he's charging into the thick of the action.

I've posted some close ups of the Command squad for those interested. I'll be adding extra bits like purity seals, pouches etc nearer to painting. When modelling I want every marine to be possed like they're right in the action. I've taken inspiration from many pieces of Ultramarine artwork, I just want every model to tell a story.

Re: The Battle of Icarus Plateau

Hm, my ideas for my Salamander force are very close to your Ultramarine force - had any experience with it on the tabletop? Sorry for the irrelevant question - you can ignore it/PM me if you don't want to clutter up the thread.

Speaking of the thread, I really like what you have done with the Command Squad. The Sergeant and the Champion have a great sense of motion about them.

Definitely subscribed, can't wait to see them painted (and whatever else you come up with)!
