To boldly plog where no-one has plogged before...

    Hello!

I seem to have unwittingly started a number of projects at the moment. I have a few project logs open already in other sections of the forum, but over time I intend to consolidate them all into this random plog. There's no better reason than I think it will be easier to keep them all in one place!

Anyway, to kick things off, here's Mr Kan, the first member of my Ork army. He's a partially complete scratch-built Killa Kan and I've been pleasantly surprised with how well he's gone together so far!

Mr Kan has had some more work done. He also has a brother, Tall Boy...

Ooo nice. Whats the body of Mr Kan made from? I see that Tall Boy's is a citadel paint pot. Nice Idea, how do they compare in size to the normal models?

    Thanks for the compliment HBD!

Mr Kan is built around a shampoo lid... I really have hit hard times! I've not seen the current Killa Kans in person but I'm guessing Mr Kan is a bit bigger than them. His feet will be ever-so-slightly overlapping a 60mm round base, which is what the current models are supplied on. I'm probably going to end up with a variety of sizes in my Kan Squadronz... But that will just make them all the more Orky!

This is a really cool project, though I think the grot inside must be wondering why there's a giant thumb up his... um... well...

But yeah! Keep 'em comin'! I'm lookin' forward to see how they look painted.

I've had a chance to work on my Waaagh the last couple of days. Mr Kan is nearly finished, just a few rivets on his body and limbs and some green stuffing on the base to do.

I've alse begun converting a warboss/nob on bike and my big mek with KFF, but I will post pictures of those when I've made a bit more progress. Finally, I've glued up and drilled the boyz and choptas from AoBR, but as you've probably already seen a million of these I'll keep to pictures of Mr Kan for today.

He's ended up larger than I expected, but I honestly don't care (bigga is betta!), and I'm pretty happy with how his Grotzooka turned out....

that looks great! And I must agree... bigga iz betta!

What's your method of bending plasticard? Do you put it over a flame or dunk it into hot water? Any particular things to look out for when doing this? I've always wondered how people make their plasticard bend like that.

Re: To boldly plog where no-one has plogged before...

    Thanks for the comments guys!

Juicytomatoes, for bending platicard i use the blunt edge of my modelling knife (be careful!) or the edge of the table and run the plasticard over it to make a bend. Think like when you make paper bunting for Christmas. This is not an accurate method, but luckily I'm buiding Ork vehicles! If you're making beakie wot nots I'd maybe find a neater method!

Tim, thanks for the big props for the klaw, it is indeed a big un', better for squashin beakies and elves... hur hur.

I've added the last rivets and given him a coat of white primer. He needs another coat but I got overexcited and took the photos first. I'm going to neaten up the from of the base but otherwise he's done. I think I could spend forever on him if I let myself but unfortunately I don't have that much free time!

I love scratchbuilds and I love this Kan - looks squat and businesslike, less gangly than the actual model range.

What Clan will your Waargh comprise of? Whatever they are I hope they'll be a swarm of these l'il critters to look at! You have to love paint pots for this.

Thanks for the comments Ragsta. My Klan are going to be Bad Moonz, my colour scheme test boy is pictured below.

My 1500 points list has three Kans in it, a squadron all armed with Grotzookas. I think I will end up making more but I'm going to build and playtest my current list before I decide what to add to it... It would be nice to model some Killa Kans with Kustom Mega Blastas though!

I've also finished building my Warboss/Nob Biker leader on bike with power klaw and bosspole and Mr Kan has been shaded.

    Enjoy the pics!

I've made some progress on the second two Grotzooka Killa Kans today, as well as beginning to build a looted wagon for my Burna Boyz.

    Enjoy!

Finally, I've got a little more paint/ink/wash on Mr Kan, don't worry though, this isn't the finished article!

Re: To boldly plog where no-one has plogged before...

Thanks for all the great comments!

Bluewolf, I've finished painting Mr Kan now, picture below. Hopefully he still looks old and worn, albeit a bit brighter!

Juicytomatoes, thanks for the compliment on the bike! I wasn't too sure about it to begin with but I'm pretty happy with it now!

Tim, I've just checked your project log and my stuff definitely doesn't make yours look stupid, probably the opposite, I'm jealous of all your fully painted armies! I only have one so far (Warriors of Chaos)!

Emrys, thanks for the praise, I've had a look at your blog too and again I'm jealous of all the painted models!!

I think I've pretty much finished painting the model itself but I might do something different with the grey rubble stuff on the base.

What do you think? All opinions welcome!
