Might be secular. Light is a pretty generic symbol for "justice and fairness" and such and suchlike and things of that nature.

Idiots... nothing can live forever.
Well, their name in the article is given as The Templars of Everlasting Light, plus I think the Empire army book also mentioned them as being a templar order.
So I somehow doubt them being a secular order (secular templar order sounds somewhat contradictory).
Oops, hadn't noticed that. Scratch that idea then. Carry on!Originally Posted by Griefbringer

Well, I find out the concept of secular templars humorous in some strange, montypythonesque way - perhaps an order that is sworn to the defence of seculiarism and to oppose theocracy, and do so with an almost religious commitment. However, not something that would really fit into the Warhammer world.
But to the topic, on the good side I liked the new entry of the Order of the Black Bear - nice to see a new order that is not yet another Sigmarite templar order. I am still wondering what that Halfling Coursing sport of theirs was like, though.

Reason not to hate Mat Ward #62: Mat Ward used the well designed spine of the Grey Knights Codex to 'Ward' off chavs who were harassing a group of nuns]
I was browsing up Mordheim Annual 2002, and noticed a piece of fluff that mentions that the Knight of Raven Order founded Mordheim.
I am left to wonder whether this is the same as the Morrite order of Black Knights (also known as Order of Raven and Raven Knights) or a different order with a similar name. I am leaning towards the later alternative - the brief description did not really sound like something fitting followers of Morr.
I will point out that the Sword and Scales design on the sample banner for the Templars of Everlasting Light is, in fact, the sacred symbol of Verena (minus the owl design on the pommel, which would be nigh impossible to represent at that scale).
Pride is not a sin. Hubris is not a failing. The galaxy is not a mere collection of stars, it is our birthright! For too long have men looked up the infinite expanses of darkness before them and looked back inward, seeking solance in their huddled, weak soulfires. I see the black depths before me and all I can see is an eternity of war and conquest in the Emperor's name.

I must admit that I never actually bothered to pay attention to the banner held by the example model, but from what you say it sounds like Verena (though I must say that I do not usually count models as reliable fluff sources).
Two new ones for you from Terror in Talabheim. Couldn’t find them on your list:
Knights of the Red Shields
Elector Count of Talabecland’s personal bodyguard. MIA after Storm of Chaos
Knights of the Stag
Relatively new order (no founding date given) Proud and regal they consider themselves above the other knightly orders based in the city, and think of themselves as ‘the true sons of Talabheim.
Also I just wanted an excuse to bump this thread as it’s fantastic.

Who knows what horrors lurk beneath the Trapdoor?
"New informations" about Black Guard are given page 46 The Witch Hunter's Handbook

Thank you Rathgar and Dreadaxe for those hints! I must admit that I have not really been following on the WFRP2 releases, good to know that there is some stuff about knights there too. I will add those orders and references to the list at some point.

Question:
does Morr have a knightly order and if so is it detailed and where?
Answer:
I have seen several writings on the Templars of Morr on a variety of websites, but there actually exists an official version.
In Apocrypha 2: Chart of Darkness, published by Hogshead in 2000, some excellent material concerning the cult of Morr is included. Amongst this information, is the "Raven Knights" which is the common name for the Morr Templar Order known more formally as Chivalric Order of Deserved Rest.
I can heartily recommend the Chart of Darkness book, as it contains some excellent new material on Morr (including new spells, background information, funeral practices and more), but also material concerning crime and punishment in the Old World, new careers, a reprint of long out-of-print White Dwarf articles and much more.
Another less official, but equally good source, is the Clad in Steel article by Colin Chapman, which details the Order of the Black Shroud along with a bunch of other templar and knight orders. This article is available from the Warhammer Archives, and probably on several other websites as well.
In addition, I have written my take on the Knight Order in collaboration with Black Library author C.L.Werner - and that article can be found here. The Black Guard of Morr (November 7, 2004)
This is a background article for Templar Order of Morr, which are alternatively known as "The Raven Knights" or "The Black Guard", and which I have been meaning to finalized for a very long time.
The final document is actually the result of an interesting collaboration between myself and C.L.Werner, the author of the Brunner and Thulmann books. A few ideas have been pitched back and forth, text contributed and the final result is all the better for it.
A note of thank you to Clint is certainly in order - for contributing ideas, allowing me to use a quote from his upcoming book "Witch Hunter" and for adding the bios for two of his own Black Guard novel characters to the document.
I guess we will have to wait for that release then - I am not really able to check back on all the references to try to figure the differences between Raven Knights and Black Guard.
Was the Order of the Jade Griffon an order that turned to Chaos? The Chaos Knights come from somewhere and I'm sure that I've read of whole orders turning to chaos.
I have not, but if you can find a reference somewhere, I would be delighted to see it.
Surely, individual knights from Empire (and other parts of the Old World) might at times slip to the side of chaos. However, this is not likely to be the major origin of chaos knights/warriors - for that you should rather look at the chaos-following tribes of the north.
Anyway, this thread is dedicated to (current and former) orders of Empire knights, if somebody wants to further discuss the followers of chaos, please start a new thread for that.
Someone said that there was information for the Jade Griffons in Liber Chaotica Tzeentch; Could anyone summarise it?
