Very cool log you have here, Averland is easily the best colour scheme and most sensible province in the Empire, having chopped down all those awful forests and replaced them with fields. The horses in particular are excellent, good kitbashing and conversions.

When are you guys going to learn... Seriously, Averland and Sylvania???

Stirland is easily the best colour scheme and most sensible province in the Empire, heating their ale and mistrusting all outsiders (EDIT: And don't forget their hate of Halflings)...

    And where are those updates?!?

Check out my Mordheim scenery! NOW! I mean... Please... Only if you want to of course...
Get your ale while it's still hot! And discover why Stirland should rule The Empire...

Re: The Old Black and Yellow

Hahahahaha you Guys crack me up!!!

Right ok ok ok I know I know! I dont want to end up singing the "3 page plog blues"

So first up excuses? Loads of Uni work, normal work and Family Illness (Ma). So not much done really but ive got some snaps I took of some projects im thinkging of doing over the Summer. Maybe you can all help pick one for me to concentrate on. Oh yea just want to make two points.

    1) Look im going to take this at a regiment by regiment pace (instead of planning a big army) as I do struggle getting hobby time. I have seen some great plogs on here that started in 2007 and are still going strong so thats how im going to roll......

    2) Realised why my pictures are crap... Camera is poo! I am planning to get one with a 15X Optical Zoom as my one is good for taking pictures of drunken uncles but not good for snappin Averlands finest silks and frills.

    Ok (Enforced) Update.....

I mentioned doing a unit of swordsmen called the Blue Reach Buccaneers and Ive started thinking of having a sort of mercenary contingent based on these guys here is some WIP (infact thats cheeky even trying to claim WIP status)

I plan on doing a unit of these, supported by some pistol wielding (free company) and Blunderbuss shooting (Handgunners) Detachments. Also a unit of Greatswords based on the Mannans Blade models.

Next Idea is a unit of Martyr Knights (just use normal Knights with great weapons rules). Idea: unit of nutters like flaggellants who go round hitting themselves and others with maces and stuff. First Knight

Think I need to shorten the handle of his flail. I was going to use this guy as a musician as hes got loads of bells on him.

Anyway thats it for now and dont worry.....

IM GOING TO GET A DECENT CAMERA SOON!!!!!

Huzzah! Updates for the update God, pictures for the Throne of Pictures!

That unit is shaping up well Yak, and that Knight conversion is bloody fantastic! I look forward to seeing more of those, consider the idea going into my Inspiration folder.

Hope your Ma's better now mate.

Rock and roll! Nice to see some progress, amigo. Where is that standard model from?

I think you shield choice is brilliant, especially if you paint it a nice wooden plank color. Your warrior priest conversion is just plain awesome.

I will say I don't think that halfing thief really fits with the rest of the unit, though.

Re: The Old Black and Yellow

@ Brother Alexos: Yep I got the landship couldnt resist, Ive got an idea for it too...

@ Saul: Thanks Saul I appreciate that, she is getting doing ok at the moment and Im thankfull for that. My advice to anyone now is dont smoke it aint worth it. Feel free to use the ideas for the knights as Im not sure they will fit into this next little project. I was going to use a few with flails, hammers and burning brands lead by a champion based on the Luthor Huss Artwork (Yes the beastmans head!!!).

@ LD: The standard bearer is an old Mordheim Reiklander Champion that I had hanging round in the bits box being lazy. I know what you mean about the halfling but see what you think of this idea....

I have been playing with the idea of doing a mercenary army based on the Blue Reach Buccaneers. At first I was going to represent them as a stand alone mercenary unit in my Averland army. Then I got thinking about it and decided a contingent would be more approppriate. Now it seems they have really struck a chord deep down in my fishy old pirate bones and nothing but a full army will suffice.....

    Ok brief theme:

Rogue Estalian Noble (The Black Bear) builds small mercenary empire in the Black Mountains near to Black Water. Vagabonds, low lives and scum from all over Averland, Stirland (because everybody knows Stirland is full of scum ) and The Moot are attracted to live a life of banditry and cheap rum. Praying on the Dwarven trade routes between the Empire. The Black Bear and his merry little army crack out a nice little fortune hiding away in the hills.

Now Marrius Leitdorf the shrewd old nutjob is not going to let this kind of thing go on unpunished on his boarders, so not to miss out on an oppurtunity he does a deal with the Bear to leave his supply lines alone but to keep on disrupting trade to other less fashionable provinces (yes you guessed it... Stirland).

Now the Dwarves (who just love seeing their vessels being robbed and their hard earned gold spread out among the various nobles of the Empire) have realised that Mad Marrius has got his finger well and truly rammed in this little Pie and are intending to do more than cut his finger off. So they have sent spies (yes those inconspicuous dwarf pirate type spies) to help pin the blame on Mazza.

This leads to an army that will have models from The Empire, Dwarf, Halfling, Ogres and maybe even some of the old silvan elves running about spreading more mischief for the Dwarves.

    Ideas:

    1) General based on the Tzar Boris model. With Pirate hat and feathers, eye patch, beard, weapon swap and a skull and crossbow shield motif.

    2) Landship with a pirate captain (see collectors models on GW site). Halfling chef from Warploque Minatures standing over a boiling cauldron of gruel to chuck over board.

    3) Greatswords based on the Mannan's Blades. (Ive made one already and they look tasty) to be Marrius' presence in the Army.

    4) Long Drongs Slayer Pirates (Either use as free company or if opponent will let me the unit itself).

    5) Bear Guard = Knights ???

    6) Mercenary Wizards ???

    7) Mordheim vampiress model (must find a use for her she has been lying round for years now) ???

    8) Some Ogre Pirate unit fillers.

    9) Drunken and rowdy Pistoliers.

    10) Hot pot catapults and other strange artillery pieces ???

    So what do you think?

Here is a couple of ideas I have had for the personal bodyguard of thr Bear

Will most likely loose the feather pole. (still not very piratey)

will remodel head to look more like a bear.

Let me know what you think

    Cheers

Re: The Old Black and Yellow

Had a little look at that warrior priest Knight and decided to give him a few mates. Ive done all the chopping its just time for green stuffing now. Got my eye on a camera and tripod so hopefully these will be the last of the dodgy shots.

Standard Bearer. Needs a sash and to match the fur trim up on his overcoat. Also his standard top needs some GS work.

This is my favourite chap. All Sigmar'd up to the nines!

This is my blind musician. Im going to use green stuff to make chain mail sleeves (half length) and neck armour like the previous guy had.

This guy will get a cloth neck piece like the warrior priest who is blessing that handgunner minature. Chain mail sleeves and books and all that.

The horses will all have small flames modeled onto the bottom of the barding. Comet and Hammer icongraphy will be used on their heads. I intend to add parchments and bones and all kinds of wierd stuff to these models.

Ive not thought of a name for these guys, something like "The Knights of Sigmar's........" will do. I am working on a Warrior Priest to lead them and I would like about 15 all together.

Great kitbashing and modeling all round. Favourite unit is the Blue Reach Buccaneers with the (Mordhiem?) Halfling. The horsemen look promising. Get the greenstuff out pronto!

Re: The Old Black and Yellow

    Cheers lads!

Here is the WIP of my Warrior Priest. I am basing him roughly on the Picture of Luthor Huss (Page 74 Empire book) so plan on adding an Ungor head in one hand.

I may use an adapted Valtens hammer arm or get the finecast Empire General with warhammer and use that arm for the hammer. I am looking for ideas for the position of the arm; raised aloft, hefted on shoulder or held nonchalantly to the side???

I may give him a cloak draped over a copy of his copy of the Guiness World Records 2522.

Here is a shot (blury) of the Knights of Sigmars whotsanames so far

Re: The Old Black and Yellow

Your kitbashing and use of models from Mordheim is well executed. Really fitting for the Empire. Great project log, this. I'd have gone with purple instead of green as their spot colour along the black and yellow, or at least purple and green. But that's a matter of taste.

"Sylvania is easily the best colour scheme and most sensible province in the Empire, having chopped down all those awful peasants and replaced them with undead peasants."

    Too true.

Now there is a proper update! Huzzah! That unit looks absolutely awesome. So much character with each model. It's not even your typical flagellant+other empire box kitbash, either, you went so far as to convert mordheim models for additional flare. Absolutely brilliant!

Love the Sigmar-Witch Huntery knights! Quite devout for a bunch of piratey brigands out of the hills ! I love the idea of mixed race armies... brings back memories of the Dogs of War of old which cannot be anything but good. Lets see some Dwarf Pirates!
