Thread: Tactica: Grey Knights

wbravenboer: sure you need to get to objectives, your transports will do that quickly, but later in the game. I know the lord can do his sweeping attack. Blow him away with psycannon and/or meltas immediately after. Smaller units is fine, and tesla carbines are still inferior to your storm bolters.

    Re: Tactica: Grey Knights

Trouble with transports for GKs is the horrible loss of firepower you suffer when you put your guys inside them. Strike squads come with guns, power armour, legs and force weapons. These are enough to dominate midfield and go to objectives. Oh and they can deep strike too.

Necrons? Schmecrons! They seem like an army designed for GKs to massacre. Against scarabs you can psycannon them if you like or just let them charge any of your units. Activate force weapons. Hit on 3s, instant kill on 3s. Then anything else the necron guy brought to the fight is either looking for a snake eyes morale check or is taking a ton of no retreat saves.

Otherwise they like shooting at 24". So do we, but we do it better and our guys have force weapons as well.

Problems is that his Barge goes flatout, so he gets a 4+ cover save, in 2 games he saved all hits from the Dread, Razorbacks, Techmarine and splinter cannons...
Anyway thanks for all the tips, next game I will try a few new things. I think its best to stick with a list and learn to play it wisely...
The necron-player has a pretty good list, and with some IG firepower it can be nasty...
Its pretty cool to mix totally different armies together, DE and GK do mix well, the Inquisition will not be happy about that...

Then shoot him with more stuff. But not splinter cannons, they have no effect on vehicles.

    Re: Tactica: Grey Knights

Yes, Raiders filled with Terminators, look how they float low to the ground
I was talking about a Team-battle, my friend uses Dark Eldar and I play Grey Knights. Together we play against Necrons and Imperial Guard.
It is a fun mix-up, in january we have Team-tournament in Tilburg, Holland, and all combinations are allowed, in Warhammer Fantasy too. (so High Elves and Dark Elves together
I am just learning to use my Grey Knight army, and testing and tweaking with a 750 pt list. At the moment I am having some difficulty against armoured units, but I got some good pointers and ideas.

By my count you won't able to fit a Land Raider with what you have left. A third Dread and another Strike Squad in Razorback would fit though.

Wood a dreadknight fit in there??

Yeah but it wouldn't be that effective on its own.

Anyone using a list centered around Coteaz and jokaero? If so, how does it perform?

I'm running adeptus mechanics themed Coteaz at the moment with 3 jokaero squads.

    Good point:

Never forget they have las cannons, multimeltas and heavy flamers.
When it works you get a squad of rending, 36" stormbolters.

    Bad point:

You can't plan on what you're going to get; this is fine if you use identical squads but I specialise mine.

It's a common army and has performed on the tournament scene.

Right now though my ad mech list includes a Libby. Out of the 3 inquisitors which one could best replace him?

None of them perform the same role as a Libby, so best bet is most likely the typical grenade battery OXI.

Just remember with coteaz use the sanctuary power every turn, and use strike or interceptor squads warp quake every turn.

Or don't. Unless you actually need them they are just a Perils risk waiting to happen. If there's no enemy Deep Strikers then there's no need for Warp Quake, if there's no enemies in assault range there's no need for Sanctuary.

I tend to leave enough room around Coteazs chimera for my opponent to drop a squad in if they want. Stiles they even go for it as well.

Against pods I even get to choose the pod or the squad.

I'm a returning player, messing around with a few Purifier Spam GK builds and I was just wondering what the consensus amongst tournament level players was in the Rhino vs. Psyback debate. I can see the advantages of both but I haven't tested enough yet against a wide enough variety of armies to know which will be more consistent.
