Cool Britnan Dragoons. Very Tim Burton. It must be nice getting commissions that aren't just 'paint this space marine this primary colour'. Which I imagine most are.
Some call me a cynic....
These minis look great fun.

With a magical tug upon its slack (invisible) strings, the thread lurches to its wooden peg-legs and totters unsteadily back into the fray!
I was forced to put Relics aside for quite a while, what with the demands of running my own business and of other, equally cool, games, like Infinity. But Sam at Square Orange Games recently ran some Relics demo games at the Gloucestershire Games Bunker and, after a pleasant hour or so spent setting Britnan Troopers on fire, I decided it was time to get back into the race.
And then Gav announced the April painting competition. So I bought a Vaettir starter set from Sam and set to. Of course, other priorities managed to continually rear their ugly heads so it's taken me until nearly four weeks into the six week deadline to actually get anything close to finished. But here's a pic of my nearly finished converted Vstonin:
Apologies for the slightly dark picture - it's evening as I write this and the best of the daylight is gone.
As you can see, I've stuck with the scheme I began with on the Vaettir Gav sent me last year and hope to roll this out to a pretty serious Vaettir army, which I'll enjoy playing with the Relics rules and, hopefully, some Unbridled Fury and perhaps even some "Good - the Battle" (I'm a fan of collecting rules as well as miniatures).
I didn't fancy the original stance, with the arms across the body, so I opened it up, sculpted a new handle on the longsword and added a short blade onto the left hand/handle. I think he looks a lot more menacing like this.

Nearly finished the first three Varriers:
I've obviously used a slightly different technique on the one on the left, so I'll need to go back and fix that *bit. *I also need to touch up the runes on the base on the right and, of course, add appropriately treated moss to the other two bases. *I'm also not happy with the mouths overall, so they need some more work.

I really, really must finish this army. I have six Varriers and four Varbres. I wasn't immensely keen on the gaming experience of Relics (good system, but the balance between the factions, whilst good in win/loss terms didn't provide a very interesting tabletop experience) but have a feeling that it could mature into something really entertaining.
