    Re: Legion of Thorns

So I think the mini-gun is a win - yeah!

    TheCoverter15, thesheriff, KingNova3000 - Thanks all!

    Paint is definitely due however...
Just as I was starting on the sixth Stormbringer (pics in a few days!), the first Stormbringer:

suffered a major combat wound that proved to be fatal (i.e. he fell onto the floor and I rolled my chair over him!)
He was a test build and I was never that happy with him apart from the spear, so the Fates have decreed he gets a rebuild, where he'll get a new head, as his lumpy one is going to heretic 6 (in progress).

    Just to reiterate: MINIGUN=WIN!

Seriously though both of those heavy weapons are fantastics, the shortened assault cannon in particular is really imaginative. Great use of the chaos warrior too!

Amazing conversions and great presentation. That mini-gunner is my fav for sure. And that terminator is a beast, the Mournblade is epic. Waiting for more.

The heads and shoulders of the termies are great. (where did they come from?).

I would like to see a few more spikes on the termie shooulders though. To balance all the spikes on the legs.
And you can't give a khorne termie a huge chainaxe without letting atleast one swing it like a mad man.

The Termies look great Lamby. how did you convert the upper section of the Termie armor? I love the fantasy heads (using them on my Termies too) but I am really digging the armor around them. I dont know the proper vocab for that part of the armor (the crest? the back plate?) but that bit is dope. Please, I must know the secret. I am sorry, but it will be used for a Terminator Lord I plan on converting
    Thanks you!

See mini tutorial below for the answer!

I would like to see a few more spikes on the termie shoulders though. To balance all the spikes on the legs.
I'm actually considering slicing off the leg spikes... not a real fan of spikes, nor the standard trophy racks, tho I'm considering hanging a few skulls from chains from the rear of the armour... mmm, you've just given me another idea (dives for the bitz box...)

And you can't give a khorne termie a huge chainaxe without letting atleast one swing it like a mad man.
Haha - no, you can't... we'll see what more the *CLASSIFIED* Imperial scout elements can discover about the secretive * Legion of Thorns * soon...

    AtmanAbecedarian - Thanks!
I dont know the proper vocab for that part of the armor (the crest? the back plate?) but that bit is dope.
I call it the cowl, so that's as good as any other name... as a bit of geekery, did you know the funny little shields on Imperial Terminators are called tilt plates?

how did you convert the upper section of the Termie armour?
Hopefully this Terminator cowl mini tutorial will provide the answer:

Much appreciated! I don't have that bit, but the conversion itself has inspired me.
Also enjoyed the history lesson Didn't know that at all.

    AtmanAbecedarian, TheConverter15 - No worries!
Gonders - Thanks... no pressure right!

Check out my other thread http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286973 where I'm about to start painting 5 Blood Raven Terminators for Captain Tylerius.

After those are done (a weekend or two away) I want to start on the Legion.

    I'm thinking of this scheme:

with a greenish zenithal highlight - I'm not fond of the generally garish chaos color schemes
I've always believed that all 40k minis really needs to be painted in a way that they stand out from the board. (exception of camoflage armies of course).
Because of that I don't like greyish and greenish paintschemes.

I do see a problem with all dark eldars out there using the same kind of basic thought that you have. That good conversions should be topped with a paintscheme making them crazily nice looking minis.

sgtspiff - Thanks for the comments - I acknowledge what you're say about the monochromatic look but not quite sure where you were going with this:

Still looking around for a paint scheme that'll do justice to the Legion but also one that isn't a nightmare to paint.

In the complete opposite direction of my previous post, perhaps something like the pre-Heresy World Eaters?

    C + C always welcome!
