Woaaah, looks like somebody has been converting here
It all looks really really good, great use of all the fantasy parts, this looks like total uber Chaos. Keep it up!

    Thanks El Aartos!

So talking color schemes and fluff (hellooo any fluff guru's out there?) would it be too far a stretch to have the Legion of Thorns be an off-cast of the World Eaters, allowing me to use the pre-Heresy World Eaters scheme of white and blue?

    Thoughts?

Fluff wise, it's totally acceptable especially with chaos I think. The Horus Heresy was an epic ordeal, any number of splinter factions could have arisen out of the turmoil. The force itself is very heavily close combat themed, even if they don't look super khornate. They could have easily accepted some doctrine that has influenced their current appearance and tactics.

That's what I thought too - just not sure where to go with the paint scheme. They are close combat orientated deliberately (mostly thru the use of WoC bitz) and also not OTT Khornate, but with (what I hope are) subtle hints of Khorne affiliation and World Eater heritage.

PS - AtmanAbecedarian - Your 'Sturmgeist's Chosen' are highly inventive and well-executed! Thanks again

Great mini, Lamby, and I love the dynamic pose. Dual chainaxes, ftw. And thank you for the nice comment regarding my plog Working on it little by little.
If you decide to go for the splinter group concept, which it seems you are leaning towards, you could use the pre-heresy paint scheme and simply change a color. Nothing too drastic. Use Liche Purple instead of the standard blue. Grey instead of white Somthing simple that will set them apart from their parent faction. Just food for thought, hope it helps.

I do see a problem with all dark eldars out there using the same kind of basic thought that you have. That good conversions should be topped with a paintscheme making them crazily nice looking minis.

Still looking around for a paint scheme that'll do justice to the Legion but also one that isn't a nightmare to paint.

In the complete opposite direction of my previous post, perhaps something like the pre-Heresy World Eaters?

    C + C always welcome!

That's what I imagined when you talked about monochromatic look. So that's why I felt like BIG NO NO as giving your very good conversions the same paintscheme as standard GW DE...

    Pre-heresy Word Bearers sounds nice.

    Lovely berzerker BTW.

El Aartos - Thanks! - and I love the war-cry!

AtmanAbecedarian - Thanks! - yes, ftw indeed!
Your suggestion on changing one of the colors in the basic scheme of the pre-Heresy WE are now swimming around in my head, tho I like the WE blue, any real white is a difficult color to pull off... Maybe bone, like the shoulder pads on my Blood Ravens...

sgtspiff - Thanks! - Now I see what you mean - I had not seen that DE scheme and it's awful - definitely not going that direction!

I'm leaning toward a splinter faction of the World Eaters...

Keep the crits and comments coming guys!

Bone white would be a good color. Blue gives you a lot of options that it won't clash with. What about a metallic? The image of a deep blue with a dull metallic grey seems fitting to me. Just a thought.

I had thought of a dirty metallic but with the new Grey Knights out there's just too many metallic mini's getting around imho!

... and segue to current standard rant re: Metal replaced by resin... A converter's dream - unless of course you've already bought the mini(s) IN METAL!!!

Ah, well Chaos should never look akin to Grey Knights (ever). I like the bone and blue scheme. Are you thinking a light blue, a dark, or somewhere in between. I think a really deep, rich blue would be dope (my two cents).

AtmanAbecedarian - Thanks - a 'volunteer' is shortly to undergo paint testing, bone white and regal blue as per pre-Heresy WE

    Workbench - bitz!

And a new subject undergoing surgery - aka more bitz!

So much badass. It's kind of hard to hold back my tears right now.
Each mini has a personality. And you have a propensity for using the coolest bits GW has produced. I would buy a fancy hat just to tip it at you.
    Now...let's see some color

As there is alot of metallic out there I say go cheramic look.
Think the necron codex got some really nice cheramic examples.

The Word bearers spreading the "good word" in a decent manner.
