    Et Imperator Diabolus Daemonica exorcizo!

After long years of waiting finally a new Codex for my beloved Deamonhunters! And after looking at many great logs here at Warseer I decided to do my own and document the redoing of my army for the new Codex. I apologise for the bad pictures, I try to get it right for the future.

Also many of my models were inspired by other people, I'll try to remember the origin and give the right credits.

EDIT: removed blurry pics, see post below for images.

I tried to make the Grey Knight colour scheme a little bit more exciting. Obviously I kinda failed.

There is also the question of the bases. I am not sure if I should stay with the grey, cityfight style or go for something else?

That's it for the moment. I started work on some Crusaders and will post them as soon as they are finished. Hopefully with better pictures.

    C&C welcomed.

Models look pretty cool, but the pics are blurry! Can you give them another go?

It's not Kill Team, it's not Mordheim, it's not Necromunda. But it's all that and more!

    A few quick tips.

    1) Make sure you have the macro function enabled on your camera.
    2) Try to take the pictures while using either a tripod or if not available, while resting the camera on a hard stable surface.

Thanks guys. I managed to make some nice pictures this morning. Unfortunately I forgot the usb cable for my cam at home, so I'll have to replace the pictures tomorrow.

Ok it was not as soon as I intended, but here are some better pics:

    Inquisitor Lucien Drake (WIP)

    Warriror Acolythe with (Storm)Bolter (Prototype/WIP)

    Grey Knights (Test)

    Vindicare Assassine

As I said in the first post I struggle with the Shoulder pads of the Grey Knights and I am not sure if I should keep the design of the bases?

Re: Et Imperator Diabolus Daemonica exorcizo!

After much too long time, I made some progress on the project.

First I can show you a "finished" Squad of Grey Knights. They still look not too good, but I won't completely repaint them, since the plastic ones are out now.

The other mini I want to show you is a at the moment nameless Inquisitor conversion. I'll think of a name for him while painting.

With the new Codex out and a weekend reading it, I now have an idea were things will be going with the army. There is some more conversion work to do...

    C&C welcome!

Good stuff going on so far, the Inquisitor conversion is rather cool! The warrior acolyte is also interesting, what are you thinking of using for a head?

As for the Grey Knight bases, as you've gone for quite a dark silver (rather than the usual bright and shiny with a touch of blue) I think plain grey bases may be a bit dull. Maybe some daemon bits on there would be a good way of adding some brighter colours to contrast the models themselves; plus having them striding through some warped daemon planet is fitting

Re: Et Imperator Diabolus Daemonica exorcizo!

    Update time!

I had yesterday off, so I spent the day painting and here are the result(s):

    Inquisitor Lucien Drake

He will be my primary HQ choice, counting as Coteaz (to unlock Henchmen as Troops). I am not really happy with that, but it's the only way to get an Inquisition style army on the tabletop with the new book.

The other model I finished was a servo skull, which will be part of a future Grey Knight Techmarine.

And finally some more news from the conversion lab: As the Inquisitor 28mm Blog is one of my biggest inspirations and I have a lot of models around, I will build and paint several different Inquisitors with their retinue (and hopefully play a Inquisitor campaign and some point). Here is an Acolythe from the Witchhunter:

Thanks for that. Well I am not really sure to be honest. Ithought about these, but I am not sure. I'd like to have something hooded if possible, but I am open for suggestions.

That's it for today, as always C&C are welcome.

Re: Et Imperator Diabolus Daemonica exorcizo!

Time for an Update. First the small things: the Justicar got a new arm.

Grey Knights Justicar with Nemesis Halberd

Next a Squad of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers (or the first part of it):

    Warrior Acolythes with hot-shot Lasguns.

Though it is the original colour scheme, I am quite satisfied with the results. Also I realized there are some corrections to do with the boots.

For the end something from the WIP table again. The Acolythe with Boltgun comes closer to a final version. But I am still not sure about the head(s), yet:

    Warrior Acolyth with Boltgun (WIP)

The problem is, that the Scout bodies are quite massive... on the other hand the Scout arms don't fit with the cadian torsos.

That's it for now. C&C welcomed.

Re: Et Imperator Diabolus Daemonica exorcizo!

All right with Warseer down it has been some time since my last update, but of course there has been some painting going on.

First of all, the Storm Trooper squad has now reached combat strength and is accompanied by a Mystic/Pyker:

    Warrior Akolythes with hot-shot lasguns

    Mystic/Psyker

The Jokaero weaponsmith (actually he's a Mechanicus Adept) is being painted at the moment and will be on duty soon.

Inquisitor Drake now has a retinue, consisting of a Sister Hospitalis (Acolythe without upgrades), an Acolythe with a flamer, two Assassinss and a Banisher.

    Inquisitor Drake and retinue

    Death Cult Assassins

    Akolythes and Banisher

Re: Et Imperator Diabolus Daemonica exorcizo!

    ...

I also painted the Inquisitor with the force halberd (now called Inquisitor Leon) and most of his Retniue. Two Crusaders are finished but the Bounty Hunter (Warrior Acolythe) is still wip.

    Inquisitor Leon and Retinue

    Inquisitor Leon

    Crusader

With the Vindicare and the Strike Squads thats 640 Points painted, however I wouldn't field Leon and Drake in such a small force, which makes a playable army of 540 Points.

Since I am a bit late with this update, there is already more painted, including a Purgation Squad, which I'll post as soon as I took pictures. Also a deadline for the army has been established - on 11th June I'm going to play my first game. It will be 1100 Points versus a friend's new Tau army which leaves me with 600 more Points to go from the point shown in this post.

    C&C welcome as always

you seem to have quite the bunch of models there...
    its all looking nice...
to improve a little i would suggest to use plenty of washes...and also to highlight after the washes..and try picking some stuff up from white dwarf things...that always works for me...

anyway...this is all looking very decent and im quite interested into where this is going!

Spontanious Update from the modeling table:

    Grey Knight Techmarine (WiP)

No worries i didn't forget the servoarms but I'll keep them seperate until I finished painting. Other way I'd die...

very cool model you are building...must tell you though that a tech marine carries a normal bolter rulewise...but this looks nicer anyway...keep it up

*blows away the dust and spider webs*

All right. It has been months since my last post. However I kept painting and modelling so most of the army is finished I will try and upload pictures of the stuff I did during the "update-free" time in the coming days/weeks.

At the moment the focus is on the aim to get a radical army without any classic Grey Knights going. Here is the Interrogator of my radical Inquisitor (warrior acolyth)

You have some interesting concepts here fella, a very eclectic mix of unit types an characters. have you given any thought to developing a narative for any of them?
