Some stunning stuff you have there.
As for the price of models back then it was not far off compared to what we pay now. There was no such thing as minimum wage in the UK at that point. When i started working the age of 16 i was paid £1.98 an hour. Bear in mind that chaos Dwarves had not been touched as a range for around 4 years so fairly pricey for metals and the plastics where all monopossed kits. Minimum wage here is over 3 times that now, so if anything it could be considered slightly cheaper as a hobby. Now a days i am self employed so basically i decide what i am worth paying. :P
There is no truth, only human opinion.

Lots of good stuff here but that giant blew me out of the water completely! The overall atmosphere that monster brings is immense and the look of the that beast is just perfect. The grimey painting you always brings really makes these big minis (you gorgon as well) pop, a pointer to what kind of techniques and colors you used would be much appreciated.

The fungus idea is great as well, I looked at Jarheads tutorial as well and could not figure out what I should make it out of. Your idea is just great and I will borrow that technique on some future projects.

Tons of inspiration for anyone and I want more! cheers and keep it up

Turska, this log is full of sheer awesomeness!
I know they're all fantasy models, but the colours you have on all of your models are incredibly lifelike and realistic (GW should visit this log and teach 'eavy metal how to paint like you do).
The Taurus wings remind me a lot of bat wings - very natural hues and tones.
The Giant is stunning...horribly mutated, but very well conceived and executed. I would also say the same about the Ghorgon and his...erm, additions; suitably bestial and animalistic.
I'm 38 but, when I grown up (lol), I would dream to be able to paint even 1/3 as well as you can.

SilentCivilian: Back in the day when these miniatures were published, here in Finland we still had Markka as a unit of currency. (1 euro is about 6 MK's, and I think the currency is very near to BP)

Thanks a lot dude! You have been one of my idols what comes to warhammer hobby, so all this is also a big salute to you
About the request, yes. it could be wise to list the main colour pots that I use... Thanks for the tip.

Heh, thank you for your kind words man! Natural colours are easier to handle in my opinion, and I never learnt to use bright paints..
You're never too old to learn. I'm 22 now myself and I think I'm just at the beginning - there's a big world of paints and atmospheres to discover.
    Thanks, I really appreciate it.

What! Another update. I must have no life!

A batch of three chaos dwarf warriors that are still a bit WIP. I've realized that working on 3 miniatures per time gives you results....

The shields are only conceptual. I'll propably give them few newer shields or convert those plain ones.

These were actually fun to do o _ o

Re: Turska's Orcs and Chaos Dwarfs!

Ohhh these old minis are wonderful and the sexy paintjob (reminds me about OldFogey at TWF syle a bit) is just making the old somewhat jolly minis looks so dark and grim.

The red noses is a very nice touch and I might nick that for some upcoming stuff. I like the shields so far I'm looking forward to see what you will do with it...

cheers keep it up as I want more

Great paint job on some classic models. It really brings them up to date.

+1 avec Dezmord : the shileds have a very old paper/parchment look, and I really like them !
Keep them with this look and paint the whole unit this way, man...

And as always, I'm really fan of your color scheme !!

Oh, for the standard, yes, giving as many as possible is a good thing for when you roll Blood and Glory. Not sure a champion is really useful in a unit of blunderbusses. But I thought you were more a painter than a player? Put everything that looks cool in your units

Re: Turska's Orcs and Chaos Dwarfs!

Thanks to everybody for your support again

Here's few pics of my orc army's general Gorbad. Note the tiny conversions I made with him - the curved horns in the helmet and the little moon idol, plus the flag made out of paper and superglue.

    I fancy his pants. Grr!

For some unknown reason I prefer the Bad moon- thingy much more than the evil sun- boringness. That's the reason why Gorbad also has moon flag attached to one of his stakes.

Check out also these antirelated pictures of what's going on on my table:

I think that the paper added to the normal plain shield's back gives the shield a bit more life. This is just a test, so don't mind about the horrifying gab between the paper and the rim.

Re: Turska's Orcs and Chaos Dwarfs!

Lovely stuff! I can't get enough of your painting style! The gorbad is über sexy and there are tons of details on him that I love. The checkers on the cloak is a nice addition, so is the pants and the jewel on the crown - the flag which is top notch stuff! Love the Style of the moon on the flag which really fits your pallet and paintscheme.

The classic warrior is very cute and the paper experiment looks interesting. I would suggest making the paper cover more of the shield and have a few more tears in it as it could make the impression more subtle yet intriguing. The warmachine looks cool already and I now await some grumpy gits with massive beards and hats to join it

    Keep up the awesome work

I agree with Animerik - your style is incredible! It's so anti-cartoonish .. quite the opposite to how most of my models turn out!.. I rly like that "effect" or atmosphere!
    Good job!

I love how you get so much colour out of a redish brown. Amazing painting with a personal touch. Really like your version of Grobad and the nurgle champion looks extremely nice in a none green brown.

I love how you painted those chaos dwarfs! Just brilliant. I love the tones you used. Very understated and effective.

And that Orc Boss on the Boar! Wow! Thanks for sharing!

I really love your painting style and the colors of your palette.
It has a really dark and gritty feeling, and fits perfectly with the dark and desperate atmosphere of the Old World.

    Special mention for :
    - the bad moon on the banner
    - the shield of the chaos dwarf
    - and of course, the old nurgle champion !

Thankyou fellas for your positive thoughts Here's something for my big and evergrowing army of Tamurkhan - something that some of you have seen already, but now I concider this piece ready. My Slaughtermaster for the ogre company!

Some of you maybe know where his triangular hat comes from. He heh!

Lord Azoth: I usually start with white basecoat and use a lot of same colours, so the paintpot number isn't very high. I have about 15-20 paints that I usually use. I like to wash the colours to the mini, layering is hard and takes too much time! White basecoat highlights the colours automatically and I can concentrate on the full image of the mini - imagine if you had to use water colours and you have to decide between black or white paper. White is easier and paint's work more more naturally with clean base. Even if the outcome is bloody and rusty... Try it! White base and watered down colours is the key
