    Chronicles of Averland (Armyblog)

    Hello Warseer.
First I would like to introduce my self before we get down to the point.
My name is Dino and I am a commssion painter and gamer from Sweden.
I've been into the hobby since 2000 but the last year I have made it more serious.

I am mainly a 40K player but FB does have a big spot in my heart, so now ive decided to get a new empire army. I did own an entire painted middenheim army but in early 2009 i got mental and sold EVERYTHING related to miniature gaming that i owned. Imagine a 10 year old collection ;D

I start this blog since i found that this forum owns and the community here seem very friendly and prone to give feedback and comments on the projects posted.

Check out my commission blog for some of my other work

    Re: Chronicles of Averland (Armyblog)

Hey everybody. Long time lurker first time poster Havok has finally decided to take a break from painting 40k and do start the planned Empire army. When I do an armyblog i usually tend to make it narrative because im just snuch a nerd and for me, the writing of background is a natural process of the army creation process. So here we go with some planning and storyline.

    Models in possesion (unopened boxes)
    -10 Handgunners

    Unassemeled
    -3 knights
    -1 Warrior priest
    -10 Handgunners

    AssembeledWIP
    -1 Knights
    -1 BSB
    -10 Greatswords

    Completed
    -5 pistoliers
    -10 Handgunners
    - 40 Statetroops
    -1 Electorcount on griffon
    -10 greatswords
    -1 general
    -2 Knights
    -20 swordsmen
    -1 Cannon and crew

Pics will get posted later during the day

    Background

-Chronicles of Averland by apprentice schribe Balian the Humble of the Kampfenhammer Sigmarite chapel-

    Chapter I
    Civil unrest in Averland
Since the most unfortunate death of elector count Marius Leitdorf the position of Elector Count of Averland has been vacant. As one might expect this has caused some instability and unreast. Due to the absence of political order our province many a fortune seekers and ambitious men have taken the presented opportunity to make personal gains. Some have showed their true trecherous colours and turned away frm threir formar duties while others have stubbornly stood by the oath of loyalty which they have sworn.

One of these true heroes of Averland is one brigadier Erwin Haydrich that served under the late Elector Count Leitdorf. During the time of peace, brigadier Leitdorf served as the commanding officer of the 3rd regiment also known as "Haydrich's rightgeous hammer" of the standing Averlandian army.

Long before the tragic incidents that woild cost the counts life, rumours had been circulating of a lost bastard son of the count. Rumours that of course were wisest to suppress. Following the count's death, brigadier Haydrich remained loyal to the house of Leitdorf and took upon him the task of finding this lost son of the count, if there is one ofcourse, and place him on his rightful position as the Elector Count of Averland. course were wisest to suppress. Following the count's death, brigadier Haydrich remained loyal to the house of Leitdorf and took upon him the task of finding this lost son of the count, if there is one ofcourse, and place him on his rightful position as the Elector Count of Averland.

    Re: Chronicles of Averland (Armyblog)

The pics suck and ill take new ones during the day but let me introduce Sergeant Lutz Staal

    By dinomog at 2011-03-26

Sergeant Lutz Staal and his "Riders of Mayhem" are known to host some of the more hot tempered young nobles within their ranks. To serve under Staal requires a fine balance between skill, determination and a bit of thrill seeaking insanity. The Riders of Mayhem are often among the first to reach the enemy and are regarded a very agressive unit, even in relation to other pistolierunits and their doctrine of warfare.

    Thanks for the positiv response

The yellow is actually very simple (why do things the hard way?)

    White undercoat
    Golden yellow
    Ogre Flesh wash
    Golden yellow highlight
    Golden yellow+skull white highlight

The key is consistency of the colours, particularythe first two layers of pure golden yellow. If you get nice and even covarage here the rest will look good

I've finished the 2 final models and now the pistoliers are done (except for the fallen leavs that will be on the bases)
The weather here is awful so i don't have a good source of natural light, which shows on the pics.

Nice Pistoliers Havok and quick progress too might I add. Good to see Averland being represented so well because we all know its the greatest province I like your choice of base as it really compliments the models and will look fantastic when you add the autumn leaves.

What are you planning to paint next?

Keep up the good work Son of Averland

    Cheers
Marius Leitdorf is not dead, I bumped into him in Tesco last week.

Stumbled across this thread completely by accident using Tapatalk on my mobile phone this morning and am I glad I did!

The Riders of Mayhem look brilliant, your yellow is so so nice and doesn't sound too difficult to copy either. I may well look into using it on my own Empire, so thanks for sharing the recipe!

How lovley that you liked it The yellow is simple, and I believe one should try to keep things as simple as possible when painting a lots of modes (that die when someone looks at them). I will however go into more intricate yellowpainting on characters and such
