no comments?! That's just crazy and I will be glad to be the first to post

Lovely stuff and I don't really know where to start. First off, the terrain looks very cool and realistic

The Steamtank looks like a solid paintjob so far (even if I would like some more shading on the metallics)

The huge regiment of empire soldiers looks wicked. It is something about big units in a nice paint scheme that you don't see too often. Very good job on these!

The converted table for the champ is also a nice detail and the XXX on the bottle as well as the map sure adds to the feeling of the empire (half serious half drunk )

    Cheers keep it up

This project log shows why Averland have one of the best colour schemes of all provinces, armies and obscure warbands in Warhammer. Great painting, especially on the Halberdier horde!

    Re: Chronicles of Averland (Armyblog)

I am not dead! The blog has been very inactive due to a lot of changes in my life. Separated with ex, got a new job, finished my uni studies, moved and a lot small shananigans. Anyway I have finally picked up my magic wand again and are painting so if nothing unexpected happens again you will see the progress of your favourite blog on a more regular basis once again. More painting and more fiction. Here is a little something to get it rollin' again.

The boy was found bloody and almost beaten to death on the yard of our cloister, his clothes ripped in shreds and his skin torn by claws. It was horrendous as I saw it with my own eyes and can assure that the sight was most disturbing. The brothers took the boy in and tended to his wounds, while he was drifting between conciousness and dellusion. His state was critical and he was plagued by nightly horrors haunting him in his sleep.
As time passed, the boy started to heal and was eventually on his feet. The other brothers opened their arms and we took him in as one of ours and he became a source of joy, constantly helping with chores and never acted disrespectful to another memeber of our covenant. Never did he manage to remember anything of his life prior to that night when we found him, nor how he got there or anything about the attack.
One night, wile I was awake doing my research I could not help but sensing movement in the corridor outside my chambers. I went out with a torch to se what was in the making but saw nothing. I followed the corridor leading up to the main hall and what did I find but the boy, kneeling in front of the altar praying to our lord Sigmar, reciting the sacred prayers word by word. His zeal seemed so pure and burning. That is when I decided to include him in our armed falang for I knew that he would find himself on the field of battle and inspire our brave soldiers with his burning passion.
The following day we renamed him to initiate Nixus and his training began. I am writing this for Nixus have risen through the ranks and was today raised to the first rank of independet action on the field of battle. Brother Nixus was now raised to the rank of Warrior Brother and will soon for the first time take part in battle without any supperiors aiding him. It is a great day for our holy institurion, for today we present to Sigmar a new servant.

    Re: Chronicles of Averland (Armyblog)

Finished my second cannon, the blue one and its crew

When the heretic Albrecht von Ausberg began his preachings against our lord and master Sigmar few took him as a serious threat. But slowly and malignatly he managed to rally those who had turned their back against the faith and managed to muster an army which could pose a threat to the stability of our realm. The forces of Averland intercepted him 20 miles fron Averheim.
The heretics launched wave after wave against the defensive positions which the brave men of the province had hastly erected and every wave was beaten back. Most of the dead suffered by the heretics was inflicted by the the guns of the Averlandian forces which was placed in the centre of the battleline, protected by halberdiers. Grapeshot after grapeshot sent hundreds of heretics to whatever hellish afterlife awaited them.

    Re: Chronicles of Averland (Armyblog)

Finished some more swordsmen today (the bases are not completley done)
I am aiming at expanding my current 20man regiment into a 40man horde of swordsmen.
So 10 more to paint and my 2nd horde is ready to get slaughtered.

Also I spent some money on more **** which i am eager to get working on. The cannonbox is going to be built as a mortar

Finaly this fellow which i got 2 years ago of the swedish ebay. For all of you who have followed this blog or read through it know i paint my knights as individuals armed with 2handswords.
Therefore this old classic is going to make a great edition. I got inspired from the movie 13th warrior to include an arabian-looking fighter in my regiment.
