Enjoying the background info and I really like the vibrant colours you're achieving (especially the yellow).

Look forward to seeing more .

My army is currently on standby.. but so is my entire warhammer hobby. Why? Because I got a puppy!!!!!!! He takes up a lot of my spare time, but as soon as he stops pissing in the living room I will continue to muster my forces

    Re: Chronicles of Averland (Armyblog)

    Resurrection!

    Hello everybody!
Long time since I updated this blog, which is mainly due to everyday life coming in my way. Especially my studies (im studying for a masters degree) which really require a lot of my time.

I have how ever been painting and also been able to step up the speed the last couple of weeks, hence i've managed to complete a 20 swordsman detachment for my halberdier horde, which I also extended with 20 additional troops, for a full 40. Finally I have finished a old cannon which I bought of the Swedish version of Ebay really cheap. But before I move on to the next models on the productionline I will finish the bases on the helberdiers and cannoncrew.
One more note is that i started painting over a black undercoat to speed things up, which sadly really does produce a poorer result with the yellow than white, but on the table it is hardly noticable, and I really want this army to get playable.

Besides that I've tried to mash real leaves into flock and added it to the bases of my pistoliers and my general on griffon with really nice results. Here follows a rather lengthy update as a compensation for my absence from the warhammer community. Please rate my thread and give me your comments.

So here are the halberdiers, BE WARNED: The pics are dreadful. Struggled with the lamp and finally gave up

    Here are some misc pics.
I ran out of bits and used some from the old soldiers-kit which really enhanced some of the figures. Also I made a little table for a champ to stand on.

Rejoice! The hour of their coming is nigh!!!

Awesome work. The blending of 6th and 7th edition parts looks amazing (if you have the bits you should try 6th edition swordsmen with 7th edition sword arms. It looks cool, trust me), and I love that banner on the halberdiers.

The champion on the table is, by far, my favorite addition.

    Nice to see you back.

Updates! Nice work on the state troops; they came out great. Love the Griffon; it is one of my favorite models of the Empire range, and the paint job turned out nicely. Do you have any pictures in which the lower part of the model is more visible?

    It is a wonderful day

I have some news on the hobbyfront which will keep me and my best pal occupied for the rest of the winter.
Before I go on, here are the horde of Helberdiers, based and completed in all their glory.

    By dinomog at 2011-12-21

Also, this arrived today, which will be started on when I am done with my greatswords, knights and rest of troops.

    By dinomog at 2011-12-21

But on to the big news.
Me and my two closest allies are running a non profit organization, aiming to locally promote culture and in some cases different sparetime activities (miniwargaming being one such activity). And today our shipment of terrain from Wayland Games (Great company, great speed, Maelstrom watch out).
This terrain will be used when we are holding our wargaming events but when it is not used, it is free to use for the members of the org.

By the way, those readymade battlefield in a box ruins (bottom 2 pics) are the best scenery ive seen. They weigh like 1000 tones each and are really well done, also allowing for personal modification and pimpage

-Chronicles of Averland by apprentice schribe Balian the Humble of the Kampfenhammer Sigmarite chapel-

Our glorious Empire is the home of many a strange thing. Some things fantastic, some jaw-dropping, some are inspireing and some downright sinister. Our glorious Empire, is home to many a wonderful men of great skill and artisans. One such group is the Engineers and their guild. This is why I am writing this short chapter in my work on Averland.

Three days ago, while on my way to the market for supplies, I choose another path than my usual. This time I decided to take a stroll through the part over Averheim where most of our skilled craftsmen have their base. On my way I passed by the magnificent building which serves as the guildhouse for the Engineers, and in thei yard was a new fantastic contraption.

A intricate pipework of brass and steel was attached to a wooden barrel and through the pipes steam was belching. Since I am no engineer I cannot tell how this thing works or what it do, but its power is still evident. The steam drove pistons attached to weels like those of a cart and the weels were spinning.

It remains to be seen what the great minds of the guild will use the contraption for.
