    Project Tomb World

I had started a project log a while back, but then things got a little crazy for a while. Now things have quieted down a bit, and I am back on track. I also have a clearer idea of what I am shooting for. So I thought I would re-make it.

    Goals

    1. To create some unique models and give my Necrons a little personality.
    2. To have 9 unique and custom made Necron Lords.
    3. To create some interesting and unique expansion models (Apoc, Planetstrike, etc...)
    4. To have this all done before the next codex (may make it, might not).
    5. To show all the haters that there are plenty of conversion options for Necrons.
    6. Come up with fluff and back ground info

    Project List

    Necron Lords
    Platinum Lord
    Gold Lord #1 -Finished.
    Gold Lord #2
    Gold Lord #3
    Silver Lord
    Bronze Lord #1
    Bronze Lord #2
    Bronze Lord #3
    Bronze Lord #4

    Apocalypse Models
    1. Doomsday Monolith
    2. Obelisks
    3. Tomb Warden

    Terrain
    Miscellaneous terrain.

Ambitious I know. I will reserve the first several posts to make it easy to find the specific models. I when I post notifications for each update.

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Platinum Lord

Ok, I am still mulling over what to do with the models. All my Gold Lords are going to be converted Warmachine Models, and larger than a typical Necron. I do have some background ideas for him, and my Tomb World.

Tomb World is in the Infernus System, in Segmentum Ultimus. The Imperium named the System Infernus, due to the large red giant sun that dominates the system. Background I made for a campaign:

"In an age long past, when Infernus was but a normal sun, the system was part of the galaxy spanning Necrontyr Empire. Once under the tyranny of an all mighty star god, the Necrons of Infernus were unexpectedly liberated when their C’tan fell to the predations of another star god. The Necron lord of the Infernus system reveled in his new found freedom. Styling himself “The Lord of Dawn”, he carved for himself a small empire among the nearby systems. To insure that he would never again become a slave, he began a crusade to purge all sentient life in his domain. By doing so, he believed that the C’tan would become disinterested in his territory, and leave him to his own devices. Then came the enslaver plague. With the rest of his race going into a long slumber, he chose to join them instead of facing their enemies on his own. Now, after millennia of slumber, Imperial mining has triggered the tomb complex’s defense mechanisms. The tomb has begun to stir, and his minions are once again carrying out their ancient orders….. the purge of all sentient life in the system! "

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Gold Lord #1

Ok, for this one I became inspired by this model. http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...sphyxious-2010

I saw that, and imediately thought, "that would make an excellent Necron Lord!". So I went and bought one.

First I dremelled out the head and smoothed it down. I then assembled the model, leaving out some of the extra parts. I then green stuffed the cape, and orb. I also took a Necron Warrior head and green stuffed a helmet onto it.

Here is a picture of the unpainted model.

Once it was assembled, I knew that my meager painting skills would never do it justice, so I had a friend paint it for me. Here is the finished model.

And here is a size comparison.

I painted the Lord on the right. Notice the difference in painting skill? So please don't judge me for having him paint my show piece models. LOL

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Gold Lord #2

This one was inspired by this model. http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...ord-asphyxious

After I made the first gold lord, I took a hard look at the rest of the Warmachine models, saw this one, and thought "That's going to be my Veil of Darkness" lord. So I recently bought it, and will soon do some dremel and green stuff work like I did for the other one.

Model Assembled. I dremelled out the head area, and then put a Necron Warrior skull on a bit of green rod. My initial thought was to put a helmet on it, but after looking at it, I think that would be a little crowded. So I'll keep it simple and just green stuff a Necron insignia on his head. Also debating on a small cloak on him.

Ok, Green stuff is done. Now to wait for the painting.

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Gold Lord #3

Like the other two gold lords, this will be a converted warmachine model. I actually missed this one originally, and then I saw a converson for it on these boards. Looked so awesome that I had to do one myself.

    Model has been ordered.- recieved.

Built Model assembled, and waiting for green stuff.

Ok, Green Stuff is also done. Now to wait for the paint.

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Silver Lord

According to the Apocolypse fluff, the Silver lord is kind of the sub commander of the army. He is the first to awaken, and supervises and commands the Bronze lords, awakening them as needed. He is also the Reserve command for the rest of the tomb complex. My thoughts? I am making him have a Tomb Spyder body like they describe in the novels.

    Parts bought, fine tuning assembly.

Update: Changed my mind on how I was going to do it. Going to incorporate some tomb king parts into it, which will change my intended build up.

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Bronze Lord #1

I usually play with wraith wing, so a Lord with a Wraith body really appeals to me. To add in a twist, throwing in a double bladed warscythe.

Took a Destroyer lord body, and extra warscythe, and combined them all together, and came up with this.

In all honesty, I am not happy with the tail, and need to manipulate it for a more natural angle and flow.

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Bronze Lord #2

For my next Bronze lord, I thought that since I am already creating a Spyder and Wraith lord, why not make a flayed one lord?

Took an extra wraith arm, with an extra Necron lord and arm to get this.

Now on to the Green Stuff!

    Re: Project Tomb World

    Doomsday Monolith

I had a battered and damaged 2nd hand monolith that was missing pieces. So I figured that I may as well create a Doomsday monolith for it.

First I gave it a simple green bath, and stripped the paint.

Now I fix the damage with green stuff and plasticard.

    Obelisks

My thoughts are that these will be planetstrike bastions and defense lasers in apocalpse games.

    Tomb Wardens

Ok, this image has been circulating on the internet for some time.

So when I saw some of these AT 43 models, it got me thinking, and I picked them up.

I then also picked up a Soul Grinder Model, some styrofoam, and some errector set.

Interesting conversions, but you really need to fiddle around with your camera for better pictures.

    Some nice ideas here.
Can i suggest you try either a devlan mud or badab black wash on your own painted necrons. You will be suprised by the results :-)
