Thread: Tomb Kings Mk.III

    Re: Tomb Kings Mk.III

Typical Warseer to already dismiss the new models before we have even seen them The author already said that the sculpts were awesome, so can't we at least be exited until we see the models in (or without) the flesh?

For the last time, they don't surf on snakes, they ride them. The OP stated that it'd be funny to convert models to surf on snakes, not that that's what the models actually do.

Let the whining begin...Who gives a flying **** wether or not the Sphynx has wings and a scorpion tail? Just don't tack them on if you don't like them.
Snake Riders? There's no way this could look good. /sarcasm

I love everything so far. But three plastic sets sounds indeed a bit...underwhelming. I guess they are holding stuff back, similar to the HPA and the cannon, for further releases.

God dammit, here I sit and can't get to Vienna till friday...

Given that the army has had no new models for almost a decade I echo this sentiment. I'm interested in the idea that the snake riders can also be assembled as monstrous infantry "sepulcre stalkers", do these replace ushabti, or are they an alternative to them (or are they simly new ushabti models with a different name)?

As far as I know the stalkers are rare, the ushabti special. But I'm not sure of it. They are seperate units though.
We both read the rumour, day and night,
but you read black where I read white.

Erm...the character you linked to is far from a weedy skeleton warrior. Just because he is of a similar idea as these new "snake surfers" doesnt make them a good concept!

I'm sure many people would say the grey knight walker thing is awesome but many would also say its diabolical, just because some anon member if some website says they look great doesnt mean they will be. Having said that I agree we must *try* to refrain judgment until we see pictures people - including myself

Keeping things back for a second wave? Are there enough models for a second wave? What have we missed?

I thought it was two plastic kits

    1 sphinx - 2 variations

    Moster cav - 2 variations

    Right?

    Thanks for the info everybody.

    Nate.

Also, regarding "Best Monstrous Cavalry in the game": I doubt this is meant in pure OOMPH!, but more in the "Bang for your Buck" sense. For example, a quite quick Monstrous Cavalry with similar rules to the spiders regarding buildings and terrain, poison on the mounts, Killing Blow on the riders, maybe even terror and It came from below with a decent price would be very cool and very easily better than Crushers.

The champion isn't one of Nurgle's best either. The fact that they are skeletons doesn't prevent it from being executed like that. And. They. Don't. Surf. That was a joke or an idea for a silly conversion.

And yes, for the initial release. But there is a lot of room for new stuff.

I take it no one knows if there is gonna be a new battalion? Still debating what to do with this release, prices and coolness will persuade me whether to give WHFB another go.

Unlikely IMHO, since the plastic core models are all the same. My guess is that the batallion will remain the same and just go up in price by £5-£10. Alternatively they could drop something and put some new Tomb Guard in, but GWs trend is not to put new models in the batallion if they can possibly avoid it.

2 plastic kits after a decade? Pfffffft thanks GW - I agree with the amount of stuff on the sprues. You either get alot in order to make different models or it's very very well designed. Another reason i'm sure some of you modellers can't wait to see some pics, I wonder how it all goes together etc. Intesting. Thanks.

A poster on the tomb king forum said the sphinx gets Heroic Killing Blow and I quote

"when i heard the riding snakes i was skeptical, but honestly, it looks "baller shot caller." they have like giant fanged skele faces (bout bone giant sized) on a snake body, and they skele's actually ride/stand on the caped hood(think cobra) and they have longer more ornament-ed shields along with more egyptian shields. the champ gets a sweet looking axe!"

Curses!!! Now I need to buy another battallion in the event a new one comes out...maybe two I was going to hold off on starting this army up seriously but I am a sucker for a good deal and I know I will need chariots and possibly some standard cav. I already have a pile of skellies (both archers and warriors) but with the new 8th rules I know I will need more.

Incredibly excited for this, and tbh I am intrigued by the new cav stuff (which i would like to point out goes waaaay back to when someone said there would be a dual kit cav kit. They just weren't bot cav ) and the many bladed arm sphinx sounds tasty. I just hope its not on the arachnarok base...that thing is a little too huge.

I don't see why not. The boxes are out, it's public information now. Except for us poor sods that can't storm a GW right now.

Good news for all the (new)Tomb king players.

It sounds like we can use the snake rider/man box to make some Dark Eldar Sslyth, I was already planning to make them but not having to sculpt the snake bodies will save a lot of time I think.
