    Another winging about hydra thread

I still really dont want to put thogether a hyra model, and after seeing the new sphinx models i was wondering what people wouod think about making it into like a animated statue of khaine with two witch elves as beast master to be like followers of the idol or something. Its on the right base size and i think it would be a real challenge to model but would look really cool iin the end.

I would be fine playing against it. I would also suggest you take a look at maelstroms resin hyrda model while you're at it. It has the upside of not being metal and being a hydra.
My goal for the year is to get another 100 models painted.
    So far I haven't touched a brush.

It has the downside of costing half a month's rent.

Well that would be a good reason not to buy it then. Lucky for me, one of the local GW stores has been abandoned by the regulars for an awesome independant store that just opened up.

@Godless wow, rent sure is cheap where you live. Around where I live rent starts at around $500 a month and goes up from there. Anyways for us Yankees, the maelstorm hydra is $70 and the gw one is $57, so there price difference really isn't that bad.

PS sorry for the double post

I thought it was like 150euro like the Chimera. My bad; it's not that bad so.

P.S. Rent is certainly not cheap here, our country in on an EU bail-out after all.

I´d wait a few weeks until storm of magic comes out or a new Citadel Finecast list appears.. Maybe they will do the Hydra in plastic. If so I´d finally throw that f*ckin metal piece out of the window. The ******* heads just break off all the time just because of the fragile construction and sheer weight.

Honestly the current WFB Hydra model is god awful, especially when you compare next to the Warmaster DE Hydra, which looks beautiful.

Anything would be an improvement on what the Dark Elves have now.

I may be tempted to get one when it becomes resin becuse it will be the one peice missing from my army to finish it. But i know i really should be patient and wait till storm of magic.

Re: Another winging about hydra thread

I got suckered into buying a Hydra:
I said: "It looks like it's been on the 'size zero diet' and the heads are too big."
GW: "No, they're fine, it's just the way it's posed on the box."
    AndyG: <Hands over hard-earnt cash...opens box...palms face...>

I'd definitely go for a Lizardman Stegadon + plastic tubing to make a longer tail + Hydra heads, plus you'd then get loads of extra bits to sell or swap:
Howdah = use for a diorama? Or a proper base for a Slann?
    Ballista = Orcs?
Skink Priest + skinks = 'nuff said.
Engine of the Gods = 40K Dark Eldar webway portal?
Stegadon head = helmet for a Giant? = "Your ******* Stegadon..? Wear it like a hat, wear it like a hat, wear it like a hat..."
I am urgently trying to contact any living relatives of Sam 'Jock' Wilson, KIA 10.06.44, UK army service id 2764432, from Morley, West Yorkshire, England. Served with Black Watch Regiment & No.6 Commando.
"The world will last for three sea-monsters [=19683years]" = Inscription in Westminster Abbey.
