This all sounds good to me. If my dwarves can use big monsters to help them in their wars, I'm a happy camper. Keep up the good work GW.

Generic monsters that any army can take?

    ...

Oh, Horned Rat damn it. Sounds like I will be converting that Rat Dragon for my Hell Pit army after all.

I suppose expecting a new Thanquol and Boneripper is out of the question then. He's the only Skaven SC I don't have, and I would dearly love to include him purely for being Thanquol!

Fingers crossed there will be new Warlock Engineers. Awesome to see Fantasy getting the spotlight after numerous 40k expansions.
Why would they release a Warlock Engineer when there's a new plastic Engineer in the IoB box, and a new Ikit Claw blister on the racks?

No chance. If anything we'll get a new Grey Seer sculpted in the contemporary Skaven style.

I am very interested to see what they exactly do for Dwarfs. Hopefully they do something more unique than just buffing their dispel phase

Sounds very nice, I'd love to have a cockatrice as well!
A new chimera sounds...interesting, although I love my Marauder one, even if it's body is smaller than the Chaos Knights' horses.
Personally, I'd love to see a Chaos Sorcerer kit, lot of potential there!

    Re: Storm of Magic

So is the Fantasy timeline is advancing to explain these new stone things? I'm more interested in the new monsters, I hope most people at my local store adopt these rules as the potential to have all sorts of gribblies walking around is too cool to avoid. Whilst they won't mesh too well with Tomb Kings too well, it could make some very cool additions to an Empire to represent the Imperial Menagerie pushed into fighting or the flotsam and jetsam that a Chaos Warhost drags along with it.

if its anything like WH40k apocalypse then I am not quite sure I will like it.. but lets see.. and new kits are always good (oh well, most of them time, unless they look like GK Dreadknight )

Jup, that is the "worst case": New models. Best case is new models plus good book. Quite a Win-win situation!

Mazdamundi would be awesome, and would certainly fit. Maybe resin >.>
But in all honesty I doubt it. Think Lizardmen will be one of the races not to get anything in this expansion (in terms of models anyway). The only thing I could see is possible Tetto'eko.

But I'm pretty interested to see what happens. In terms of both models and what rules they give us. I assume there'll probably be something to increase the winds of magic in large games if it's along the lines of Apocalypse Fantasy.

Let's see, let's translate that to 7th ed. Why would they release multipart spider riders and night goblins, and metal trolls, and metal big bosses, and metal shamans when they were all in the starter kit? The answer is "I don't know" (), but they did, so it's not a valid reason, that's for sure

Wahey, I hope the 'generic' monsters part is true, it's been ages since my skaven have had a manticore on the field.
From a distant darkness in the galaxy...
    Invaders arrived on shining Earth.
With solid ties and burning friendship...
And with the burning your passion in your eyes, confront them.
Using the Gekigan beam, defeat the mecha monster that destroys peace

    Re: Storm of Magic

This sounds pretty cool actually. I'm glad Fatasy is getting the same kind of attention as 40K. Also, for all you naysayers, keep in mind it's an expansion, not required to play. I'm for, any expansion for these kinds of games, it keeps things interesting. It'd be nice to think GW is moving towards a new business model where expansions keep the game going for a few more years before a new edition is released.

Not-entirely-uneducated-guess. I'm not really in a position to give out rumours...

Anyways, I'm basing this assumption on:
    1. We have yet to recieve any blisters - or 1.5 wave (which are usually 90% blisty)
    2. The "interview" on the GW blog showed all the new models, including some I've never seen before (including "giant archers" and a lot of single infantry sized models - presumably characters) There were, like, 6-7 in total.

Judging from this, I'm assuming we'll get some sort of 1.5 wave, including a lot a characters, and assuming the number of them are as high as the interview showed, it's rather unlikely none of them are liches (or are at least characters that can double as liches).

EDIT: regardless, I wouldn't advice tossing away your liches just yet

    Re: Storm of Magic

Based on what we have, I'm going to make a few predictions.

    1. Plastic Black Dragon and Manticore. Those kits are hybrids as so they're the first to go. Maybe if we're lucky, we might get a kit with parts for a Black or Forest Dragon (one could design the kit so they don't look terribly different) thus kill two birds with one stone. Maybe this expac is when the S shaped "Trogdor" dragons get updated.

    2. Since the focus is on magic and monsters, the most likely armies to get new models are ones associated with having strong magic phases and/or a large array of monsters. Conclusion: The likelyhood of Lizard Men getting some new models is reasonably high. Possible candidates include new Slaan (maybe resin), a plastic Carnasaur (old one looks kind of small now) and maybe Maz.

    3. There's bound to be some anti-magic stuff in this. Possibility of getting a plastic Cygor is reasonable.

    Re: Storm of Magic

Why is everyone guesing that the second pic is a manticore ? (these threads explode if you are away for a couple of hours, so sorry if anyone also said this) There is already a manticore model... I suspect the second pic to be the lions head of the mountain chimera (as in the Transformation of Kadon spell). Maybe you can built both out of a kit (Manticore and chimera both have lions heads - the manticore in Warhammer at least), so that would be possible, but if it is a single not otherwise buildable model my money is on the arcane creature that many races can transform in, not the beast that is available to only two (Dark Elves and Warriors of Chaos I think).
