Nothing good in this thread... except for dwarf lovers ;)

    Hi there!

    Story:

My friend decided that 40k is not so cool anymore, and he has a fully painted skaven army so he said we should start play Fantasy. Well I remembered that I have my old dwarf army at the shelf while one of my friend thought of starting the new TB...

So, I ran to a few painting articles in games workshop and the army is going to be blue, with standard painting, I'm not a pretty good painter.

Photobucket works, Here is a few pics

My best painted model, but not done by me:

And the first few warriors of me

And the dog listening... or perhaps it's wondering: "Where did this come from? it's white and blocks the way to water cup!"

    Cheers

Ok going on after a while,

My quareller veteran! painted to its full glory!

I've painted cannon platform, some shields, re-stepped on my bits box and started to make a rank filler.

hopefully even someone will post a comment! props to him/her!

Good use of complimentary colors. And well executed paintjobs, but... finish those bases! (I'm neurotically negatively affected by unfinished bases.)

Don't be hasty sir! I've based and painted the bases and movement tracks as well! (or whatever they are called)

Thanks! Yeah they are still "quite" WIP. But, you made me think... Some cattle here have black horns. I thought that I could give it just a highlight with grey and blam, done.

Impressed that people like you two above even commented to this. I encouraged myself and I post more pictures!

Like I said, the bases are done! at least 10 first of them. I wanted to use the scorched grass because I don't like the snow. It just doesn't look good. Actually, My gaming board I'm doing, was going to be a snow board but I eventually don't like the effect, it doesn't look real. I know what snow should look like in the winter, I live in finland, middle of northern wastes and troll country, lol

Oh and don't mind the unnatural big eye of the "veteran", He's Münir the Mad

I didn't upload the picture of the cannon "movement track" because it's still quite WIP and need crap on the base.

    And here's my Runepriest/Runelord

Still more to go: This repaint takes ages.

Props to the repliers. Hopefully there will be more replies too!

Very nice bases. Yeah your style may be a bit on the rough side, but it leads to an overall good effect.

Of course a repaint takes ages

Keep it up though. Dwarves would have been my 2nd army if I had one, always fun to see em.

Let's call it orange and blue shall we, the royal Dutch colours. Probably the colours of my repaint as well when I get to my dwarfs again (I call them the Dutch grudge).

All dwarves deserve the best paint job you can give them, take your time.

While the basing itself looks good, you spilled a bit of sand. Just cut the dwarfs from the bases with a sharp knife under the boots and redo them separately. Then glue them on top with PVA glue, works exceptionally well in static grass, or for a better halt pin them as well on your base. This is a lot easier and also makes them stand on the sand.

@Maglok: Let's hope I don't get bored. That's why I listen to the song "Warthog run" - From Halo series. It makes me hurry sometimes...

@Little Joe: Well, My grudge is blue because it's one of my fav colors. Orange is one too... I think I shall call this:
    Grudge of Annoying Orange!.

But hey, Give your dutch grudge a go!

For the sand problem, I know. But I'm too lazy to scrape them off... I shall do it soon I guess.... If I remember. Oh and I think there's a second problem. I use highly attachable superglue to glue my tiny soldiers to their bases. When it dries, (very fast, of course!) It doesn't get off even with a Dwarf axe and strength! (The bases twist and bend if I try to take them with force) I need to redo the bases completely if I'd like to do that sir, but good thing you pointed that out, Always love to have constructive criticism

Tonight I hopefully get to make some more dwarf-ish-ness things

I like your rough style, it is good to see someone doing something unique! Can't wait to see the brewery finished. Though, you really should, at all costs, avoid basing your terrain with cardboard, it warps easily and is quite weak. Thin (1/2" thick, or less) plywood would be better for basing your terrain.

Yea I know... Sometimes they escape to the warp, very easily! And sometimes they don't even come back... you said that, they're too weak :'(

...Erm, Sorry for that. I'll try to get some better materials. (From my storage for example!) I'm currently building a gaming board to 40k so there might be a lack of materials. Now it's summer holiday for me so I have lot of time to concentrate in painting (And building!)

Good, Like to have comments. Some pictures to prove I'm doing something!

What's this? Well, Balin would be proud...

    Watchtower, (Or a big chimney!)

The brewery itself has no progress... SadFace

I thought I could make a BBQ because soon it's the midsummer here in finland and the sun doesn't really go off at all. this means a lot of finnish people are eating nice and crispy BBQ food and stuff... I would use the furnace which comes from the Thorek Ironbrow kit but I sold my Thorek a year ago in exchange for some Orks. goddamn the guy holding the lightning thing could put a stake into the furnace!

Here's my "next to paint" guy.

Have you considered drybrushing your metals? Think it might give a slightly better contract than what you have here currently. (I can't drybrush AT ALL)

    Looking good!

I would recommend though, to have a little tray or something of the like to mix together the paint and a little water, then you will get a much smoother colour

    @minitrol:

Yes, but it's quite hard way to do because my brushes are not meant for drybrushing... When I drybrush with my good brushes, most of the bristles get off and stuck into the models' surface. That's why I consider a lot before drybrushing something. I have however, bought already crappy brush now, so we'll see how this turns out...

And I like plain metals, The drybrushing may give it a too weathered look perhaps, I don't know... ...I'm quite afraid to try something new. I may ruin the model by an accident!

@Fire at will: Yea, I have a palette but I can't determine the right mix (50:50 is easy but the others...)
Also, there's a slight problem with my palette; It's full of different colours and my mix's dry easily... I need to find a new way... I think I know the right person to ask.

Yeah some slightly more watered down paint could help. I agree. You can get a good feel for the mix by finding a nice compromise between how smooth the paint spreads on the model, and not having it be so wet it drips out of place when you apply it.

    Thanks guys!

Sit back, relax, and laugh to my BSB: Behold, THE GREAT ORANGE!

    It's cute, isn't it?

Don't mind if I'm a week off because I now go to my father and help him out... Or perhaps I'll help myself out, because I will soon move to there and I need to clean up my new room... and stuff.
