I would say crossbows are great at taking out sphinxes or any constructs
That -1 armor save.
Even if the unit only gets a few wounds, 6+ saves are really hard to make.
Similar reason I cannot stand facing empire with gunpowder weapons.
Pop pop pop
Constructs cant take those gunpowder shots
Actually, itīs "just" 2 more sphynxes (heīs proposing 5 and I have 3 in my army) and 1 of them is a ridden monster, which is usually too risky in this edition. But by adding those two and go to a full sphynx mash, the concept goes much more extreme: it will work greatly, or wont work at all. Also, the game will became more dull (in my opinion) having less flexibility and variety: go there, smash your construct into something, pray they dont get much sixes and there we go![]()
Btw, Iīm not saying Iīm not making to work my army, itīs just it is hard to do it against some armies. But I got my quote of wins, be sure of that![]()
Meat shield for larger constructs-??

go go 100mm by 100mm!

Me and another TK player in my area use Ushabti as unit fillers....
It's a sad state that some of the best models in the TK range are one of the worst units to take in terms of in-game effectiveness. If they had been just a little cheaper, and/or you could heal a unit of them for more than 1 wound per turn then they might have been effective in some scenarios. But as it stands they can be very easily wounded by basic magic missiles or S3 shooting and there is no realistic chance of healing them back up. If only GW had considered making all constructs high toughness / armour save instead of just the new ones![]()

I use mine as unit fillers too!
The book is a typicall Cruddace book, just like the Nids: he make old models much more bad as they were before, but in return we get shiney new units/modells with far superior rules. In both books! Nothin more to say, IMO...

Yeah I use rat ogres as unit fillers as well.
So when should we expect a new FAQ to clarify MY WILL BE DONE vs modifiers-?? I am tired of playing 20 questions on that subject.
Maybe the FAQ could modify Ushabiti like the white dwarf nurfed Flamers?
Wishful thinking on my part maybe.

Ushabti aren't bad. Overcosted, but not a bad unit. But just like you don't field units of 10-15 Tomb Guards, don't expect much from 3-4 Ushabti. Start at 6 as a minimum, and they can start to perform reasonably well. Bumping them to 8 is starting to get better, and maybe even 9 in a 3x3 formation won't be a bad choice. It's no more costly than 40 TG with halberd you can see around. And depending on your meta, if you don't face too many cannons you could put a BSB in there (mounted) to get the BotHD with them, or the flaming banner if they have bows.
Vampire Counts Army : At least 4000pts built, much more waiting for some love!
Tomb King Army : About 6000 pts of troops, all that is left is painting!
My Sales thread!
Ushabti are unit fillers and statues to me, nothing they can do that chariots or tomb guard can't.
As for the BsB I find him really useful just with banner of eternal flame a shield if I have a point or 2 left. He starts the game in my bunker behind 2 units of 30 archers then if I see anything flammable or has regen jump him out to an archer block try and get multi-shot then let loose.
Ogre Kingdoms (3500pts painted / 5000pts total)
Tomb Kings (3500pts painted / 3500pts total)
Night Goblins (1000pts painted / 4000pts total)
Daemons of Chaos (3500pts painted / 6000pts total)
Skaven (4000pts painted / 10,000pts total)
Beastmen (750pts painted / 3500pts total)
Wood Elves (2000pts painted / 10,000pts total)
I've been enjoying some success with a super magic-lite army based around 3 sphinxes, 2 units of necroknights and a unit of 6 bowshabti. Check it out in the Battle Reports forum for a more detailed review of how that kind of army performs. Long story short: It is quite possible to run a construct heavy army even in the face of arguably the perfect monster killer.
Why is it always the innocents who suffer most, when you high lords play your game of thrones?Looks like you lost this game in the "purchase models" phase.
Phew, anyone have an inkling of how to deal with VC?
Every time I play against VC, my Warsphinxes and Collossus have a couple of missiles homing in on them in the form of single-base spirit hosts and a banshee...
Once locked in combat, said banshee and stupid Terrorgheist will just swoop by to scream into combat and finish the beasties off. A super bad tradeoff if you ask me... 35 point spirit host to lock up a 230pt warsphinx!
Since he puts all his dice into dispelling my casket's light of death (I can't seem to roll double 6 even when 6-dicing) I can't take out all of those threats!
Besides those pesky nuisances he has 3 Vargheists hunting my casket amd lots more to cause more havoc.
Very funny Scotty... Now beam down my clothes.

For the spirit hosts try 1 or 2 level 1 light wizards with the signature spell.
Terrorgheists tend not to like catapaults landing on them so try 2 of them.
Very valid arguments, they would however require vast amounts of points spent on different stuff than the high toughness beasties that seem to be TK's forte.
What does your rare slot look like in 2k / 2.4k points?
-casket
-ssc
-ssc
(-Colossus/Hierotitan only in higher point games?)
And your mages?
I tend to run one lvl 4 now. Is it wise to run 3 lvl 2's with two of those having lore of light?

Whats in your armylist althwen, because it sounds like your just getting bad match ups.
Really, you want to target his support units with range attacks(magical on his banshee/spirits) and take those options off the board.
To be honest terrorghiest don't like much ranged attack at all, if you start concentrating fire at him you can atleast slow him down and make him pull back to get healed or play defensively.
Long and medium ranged attacks are your big advantages in the opening turns, so make sure you deploy well to get alot of attacks on to your primary target(s) and have enough redirectors to slow him down abit in mid-field to carry on with the job of depleteing his units.
Even look at taking Arkhan and 2 light priests + hierotitan
.......... alittle more ....... a little more.
