Skaven are horrid. Especially Thirteenth.The only time I've ever been annoyed at the Heelanhammer podcast was last episode when Dan described Winter Incursion as pretty much "I played rubbish, chucked 6 dice at 13th EVERY TURN, herp derp mad skiiiilllllz!!1!, and then I won nearly every game".

At least Mindrazor lets you have Ward saves.....

These top players. If I ever face double Grey Seer, I'll probably be the surliest player on the planet.

On a more positive note, the armies looking really good mate, the striking colour scheme works great. I also like the little Fairy type chappys. Where are they from, by the way?

They're just spites from the Wood Elf sprues, you get a load of them (along with little dragons and owls and way-stone thingies) and they're lovely little models so I thought, why buy another 20 glade guard when I can just use these?

Unfortunate match up to start with getting Tomb Kings if it's a shooty list you might struggle.

Hai Tom , i was wondering about something.
What is your idea about a noble with the hail of doom on an eagle?
I use eagles to hunt warmachines or at least get in the back of the enemy , but on the way up there on the first turn , why not shoot the hail of doom in something juicy. A sort of "by-the-way-delivery-system".
Second turn is charging the warmachines/annoy the opponent.

That could work, and it's something I might end up trying. I just have a few reservations- first is that he can only only 10" and still shoot, which limits him a bit for the points I'm paying.

Secondly, he just looks a bit too vulnerable to missile fire, and even with a Charmed Shield any sort of template is going to be worrying.

I've also got a decent bit of stuff to hunt war machines and the like (eagles, WWs, dryads) so I'm not sure I'll really need him. That said, it's on my list of things to try now so thanks for the idea

Brighton Warlords today! 4 games, 2K points with the Wood Elves. Got TK up first, very confident in the match-up as my usual TK practice partner is the best TK general in the country and I've not lost to him yet with Wood Elves

I reckon a 16-4 win first round, a 12-8 loss to Ogres at some point and the other 2 results are up in the air. Follow my progress on Twitter, @tmarichards

Agreed. Can't stand them. They just aren't fun to play against. I see them as the anti-Orcs and Goblins. Still random, but not fun at all.

Themed skaven lists are fine. It's when you start maximising that things become insane. The problem is it is very easy to maximise with the book.

A lot more fluffy list could be constructed if plague priest still wore light armour, a non SC plague priest lord ( O&G have savage orc warbosses & shaman lords) was available, and monsterous Calvary RnF to hide pox rats & Bonebraker riders in (truly my fave models.)

Further a limit of 1 grey seer per army-as no respectable Grey Seer would ever share the privilege of Leadership with another Grey Seer.

Hope the other matches were nOt as dreadful.

high elf does a pretty good match against skaven? right?.. i can see that skaven are put together as a power army, but there is weaknesses as in all armies? :/ isn't it more a question to find those weaknesses and exploit them?:/

Skaven is a horrible match up for high elves, they have everything HE hate, and they have it in abundance

Ok, so I've given it some thought and I'm taking Dark Elves to Lightning Strike. There's a very strong case against doing so, but the only Wood Elf list I like at 2.4K would have me buying 6 Treekin and painting them in a fortnight, which won't really happen. So DE it is, with a practice game tomorrow (Thursday) hopefully.
